Ch.46 Crime scene

(Flashback) After agreeing to help Shawn, Danny stood back and watched as his former friend tried to lift up a boulder with his magic. He did his best to focus, but he was only able to lift the stone a few inches off the ground as he gave up while letting the boulder drop.

"I can't do this," Shawn breathed frustrated "I'm sorry I'm wasting your time. I'm sure you have better things to do."

"You're not wasting my time" Danny assured when he soon got an idea "You just need-"

He looked up and spotted a large boulder on top of the old tower.

"The right motivation" he grinned as he used his magic to let the boulder slip off the tower.

Seeing how the rock was about to fall on top of Danny, Shawn felt his heart racing with shock as Danny stood there and waited.

"Danny, no!" Shawn screamed as he held his hands towards the boulder.

And to his surprise, his magic had destroyed the rock, sending it crumbling into the pieces and avoiding Danny. Seeing how he had succeeded, Danny gave a proud chuckle as he turned to Shawn who stood there as surprised as he was.

"I- I didn't think I could do it" Shawn gasped, "I didn't- I didn't know it was possible."

"If you believe in yourself-" Danny smiled, "It is. You know you are a lot like I was when I first learned magic. It was really hard at first, in fact, a lot of my magic came all out of anger and hate because I was certain I couldn't do this."

"Oh yeah," Shawn pointed, "Didn't you like, destroy a carriage because of you were angry with yourself?"

"Yep," the wizard breathed, "I did some bad things with my magic. But thankfully, I had the right guide to help me."

"I wished I had a good parent like you" Shawn muttered "Merlin may not have been your father, but he was the closest thing you had to a father. As for me, I never knew my dad, neither does my mom. She still has no idea if my father was Arthur or Lancelot."

"Still?" Danny remarked.

"Yeah. But never mind that. The main thing is, you sure were lucky that Merlin practically adopted you. I would have loved to have a wizard father."

"Yeah well," he sighed, "Now that he's gone, I'm on my own now. Not to mention being hunted by your mother."

Shawn bit his lip as he avoided eye contact.

"You know I didn't kill that prince, right?" Danny demanded.

"Of course I know. But Mother doesn't care about that anymore, she's off doing her own things, and I'm off trying to find my own things."

"Well, look. If you still want to practice your magic, I'm willing to help. But just so you know, you can't always get everything you want with magic. Because from what I know, magic can come with a price."

"Glad to see you still remember that" a familiar voice suddenly spoke as the two turned to see a more familiar face.

Standing to the side was none other than a powerful and immortal being everyone knew as Gold. A man stuck in his fifties, nobody remembers the last time they heard of the mysterious man.

"Gold?" Danny gasped, "Is that really you?"

"I can see you surely grew up, Daniel" Gold remarked, "You look more like your father now."

Danny gripped his fists as he glared at the being who killed his parents long ago.

"You've been MIA for years and now suddenly you're back?" Danny snarled, "That must mean you want something, what is it?"

"I just need to talk to you, Daniel" Gold answered, "In private."

Later that night, working late at his desk at the police station, Terrence suddenly got a call on his phone as he pulled it out and answered the call from an unknown number.

"Terrence Kenneth," he answered the call.

"Mr. Kenneth," a feminine voice said, "This is Natalie Parker, the bartender from 'The Cursed Fairy' night club."

"Oh," he replied interested "What can I do for you, Miss Parker?"

"The man you asked me about, Ed, he just sent me a text saying that he wanted to meet with me at his place to talk about the missing woman, he said that it's really important."

"What do you mean?"

"All he told me was that Linda Samson should not be found. He didn't explain why, but he just wanted to talk to me."

Terrence sat there surprised by her story, now feeling that this guy could be a top suspect to Linda's disappearance.

"I'm not like part of her disappearance or anything," Natalie put in, "Just so you know, but I have no idea why he wants to talk to me about her."

"Well, what do you say?"

"I haven't responded yet."

"Well, go ahead and tell him that you'll meet with him, and do you mind if I follow behind? I need to ensure your safety because from what I know so far, he could be very dangerous."

"I would like that."

Once they were ready, Terrence slowly followed Natalie in her car as they drove up to Ed's house where she parked her car as Terrence watched from his as she got out of her car. Keeping his eye on her, he watched as she walked up the steps of the old house and gave a knock. But as they waited with no answer, Natalie knocked again, but still no answer.

Wondering what was going on, Natalie peeked through the door window, but since the lights were out, she could barely see anything as she turned to Terrence while shrugging her shoulders. Without thinking, Terrence stepped out of his car and joined her at the door as he used his flashlight to see through the window, and that's when he spotted a body lying still on the floor.

"Oh no," he gasped as he turned to Natalie "Stand back."

She did so as he pulled out his gun and kicked the door down while stepping in and carefully looked around with his gun out.

"Oh my God!" Natalie gasped at the sigh as they stepped inside "Ed!"

Ed was lying motionless on the floor as Terrence bent down and examined him. No injuries were seen, but when he checked the pulse, he knew it was certain.

"He's dead."
