interview #9 Series promotion with @jessica25january, Before Series

1 What is the title of your series?

I'm calling it the "Before" series since all the titles begin with Before.

2 What inspired the idea of your series?

Funny enough, it stemmed from a dream that I couldn't get out of my head. Pretty much two best friends that have feelings for each other and the girl lies and pretends she doesn't feel the same way.

3 How many books are in your series?

Four. I'm debating on adding a fifth that would act as a prequel of sorts but I'm still unsure. I don't want to say too much about it as it would be a major spoiler.

4 Is it the only series on your profile?

Yes

5 What do you desire readers take away from your series?

That sometimes the love story you may have envisioned for yourself isn't always the one you get.

6 is your series complete or ongoing?

Ongoing but I just completed the first title in the series today!

7 What are your future plans for your series?

Continue to publish it to Wattpad. They are all written except the for the fourth so my plan is complete that one. It has an extensive outline though.

8 What would be a good piece of advice for someone who desires beginning to write a series?

Create an outline for the entire series. Then break it up into individualized novels.

9 Do you prefer writing a series over a standalone novel?

That's tricky. If my readers have the desire to follow me through a whole series then I think series as I get so attached to my characters and it's hard to say goodbye. I never set out to make this book a series. It was always meant to be a standalone that was open to a series if I wanted it to be but the ideas kept flowing. I don't plan on creating any further series though.

10 Who is your main character? Are there any similarities between you and your main character?

There's three characters and I took bits and pieces from myself for all of them. I have Addison's fierce loyalty and love of French fries and glitter. Vanessa's shyness and feelings of insecurity when it comes to my looks. Like Matt, I also love reading and astronomy.

11 What does your character go through in the series?

All three of them go through their own growing. I'm most proud of Matt's growth in the third book. I don't want to give away any spoilers but we will see him overcoming the bullying from his past and his mother's death. That's something we have yet to see him really deal with. But for the first book, I focus on Vanessa's fear of falling in love for the first time.

12 What does having readers for any of your stories mean to you?

It means I lot. I love drawing out emotions from my readers and seeing them get as wrapped up in the storyline as I am. Addison has received positive feedback which I'm so pleased about because she's my favorite!

1 What type of stories do you like to read?

Romance. I also enjoy a good psychological thriller.

2 What type of music do you like to listen to?

Taylor Swift, Taylor Swift, and more Taylor Swift.

3 What is one of your favorite stories that you've read on Wattpad?

Honestly, I don't really have one as I mainly just use Wattpad for publishing.

4 What do you believe is better for a story? {Quality or Quantity}

Always quality. I believe that sometimes, even just a paragraph can be impactful if it's well-written.

5 Are you more likely to check out an ongoing or completed story?

Completed. Too many people abandon an intriguing story. Nobody wants to be left in the lurch. It's similar to having a TV show cancelled on a cliffhanger.
