Song: I Think I'm in Love- Kat Dhalia

Sorry for the late update!!! Please comment a ton, it makes my day

Hinata stared at the paper, eyes already long past the point of dry and burning, heading somewhere toward Sahara desert in the middle of summer.

Come on.

Come on, come on, it's not that hard. The idea was just there-- just had to put it down on paper.

He drew a soft line as a place to start. It was crooked.

"Fuck!" He exclaimed, pushing the paper away, then proceeded to glance around the empty dorm room, expecting his mom to come barging in at any second and drag him away by the ear for his profanity.

He sighed to himself when he remembered that he was in college, far too old to get scolded by his mother for swearing.

That is, until his phone rang and he saw the caller ID show up as 'Mommy.'

He could've sworn that those were hairs raising on his neck.

"Hey, momma," he said guiltily.

"Hey, my little baby." Shouyou's mom was even more chipper than usual. "How's it going down at college? Doing good in your classes, I hope? Oh, and how about therapy? How's that going for you?"

Hinata giggled. Guess he knew where he got his short attention span from now. "College is good, my classes are fine, and therapy..." He trailed off, smiling to himself.  "Dr. Takeda said I'm really making progress. It still hurts to think about Natsu, but he said that that's natural and I should try to remember the good times I had with her. He also said that being around my friends and boyfriend will help, too." Suddenly, his blood turned cold.

Boyfriend.

That's what Hinata had said. He hadn't told his mom about Tobio yet, he couldn't just tell her now!

The line was silent for an infinite moment.

"Hinata Shouyou, did you just say boyfriend?"

Hinata gulped. "...no?"

"Shouyou!" His mother didn't sound angry- just the opposite, in fact. "You have a boyfriend?! Oh my gosh, I'm so- it's just, you've never had a boyfriend before, I'm so excited! What's his name? What's he like! When do I get to meet this charming young man?"

Shouyou pulled the phone away from his ear and let out half a sigh and half a laugh. He should've known he'd let things spill one way or another. "Mom, come on. You're embarrassing me."

"Oh, sorry, hun. Don't mind this silly old woman- just kidding. I may be old, but I can still rock it!" Then, "Oh, that's right. We were talking about your boyfriend." She said the word boyfriend with a special lilt, and Hinata could tell his mom was trying not to laugh. "So?"

"So what?"

"What do I need to know about the boy that's stolen my baby away from me?"

"Mom..." He prepared to jokingly scold her again, but got lost in thoughts of Kageyama before he got the chance. "Well, he's got these deep blue eyes like a night sky-- and his hands are really big and warm. He's super tall. Pretty much a giant, actually. His personality, is, haha, a little intimidating at first," He chuckled, thinking back to his first encounter with his boyfriend. Suddenly, his heart was soaring at how long ago that seemed to be, how far both boys had come. "He helped me get through my panic attacks a few times, back when we weren't dating. I was at jerk to him, honestly. But we're better now-" more than better- "and I really, really like him. Once you get to know him, mom, he's actually so caring and he says that he doesn't know how to express himself and I think I helped him do that, too, so it's kind of like we're helping each other." He paused, heart beating hard in his chest. His cheeks burned at the thought of that one night they'd shared together a week ago, when they'd really, uh...'helped' each other. Then last night, when they'd 'helped' each other again.

"Well, if I didn't know better, I'd say my little baby is in l-o-v-e."

Hinata burned. "Haha. Very funny, mom."

"I bet you're blushing right now."

"I bet I'm going to hang up now."

"Haha, okay, I'll stop." His mother chuckled before her tone turned back to normal.  "But seriously, when do I get to meet Tobio?"

Hinata bit his lip. Today was Tuesday, May. School was out for the summer in a week.

"How about..." He paused. "Would it be okay if you came down this weekend? Then you can meet his parents, too."

"Oo, I even get to meet his parents? Sure. I don't have any plans this weekend. I'll drop by after I water my lemon tree."

"Okay."

"Well, I have to go. Marie from next door is causing a fuss again-- you know, that drama queen-"

"Yeah, I got it. Go tell her what for, momma."

"Love you, sweetie."

"Love you too, mamma."

"You what?!"

Shouyou shrugged meekly. "Sorry, it just kind of slipped."

Tobio paled, then sat down next to his boyfriend on the outside campus bench. "Sorry for shouting. I was just... Surprised."

"No biggie. Sorry about telling my mom about you."

"Ah, it was gonna happen sooner or later I guess. Better now then never." He stuffed his hands into his jeans and started intensely at a trash can across the campus. "Does it really have to be this weekend though?"

"Sorry, unless you want to come over during the summer and meet her." Both boys blushed at the thought of being under the same roof with Shouyou's mom.

Kageyama casually rested his head on Hinata's shoulder, a movement that made both of their hearts beat a little faster, soar a little higher when they thought of how far they'd come.

"Nah, it's fine. I guess it'll help. Maybe we can both introduce each other to our parents at the same time."

"Sounds like a plan, stan."

Tobio nestled his nose into the crook of Shouyou's neck, having to bend down to do so. "Who's Stan?" He tried not to sound jealous-- it didn't work.

Hinata giggled. "You're lucky you're so cute."

Kageyama furrowed his brows, feeling like he was being complimented and insulted at the same time. "...thank you?"

Hinata planted a kiss on Tobio's forehead, feeling the soft ruffles on his lips. "I'm joking."

"I-i knew that." Kageyama pulled his head off of Hinata's shoulder and wrapped an arm around his boyfriend's shoulder.

Shouyou still couldn't believe-- still, even after having sex with Tobio, twice-- how comfortable it felt to touch one another. The way they fit together like puzzle pieces, how they could make each other feel at home with a simple look.

"Thank you," Shouyou mumbled. Now, it was his turn to rest his head on Tobio.

"For what?"

Kageyama glanced down at his boyfriend, fighting the urge to smile uncontrollably at how cute he was.

"I dunno. It just came out of my mouth." Hinata snuggled a little closer. A few people passed by, not even giving the pair a glance, and he felt his chest grow at how far the world had come to accept him. Twenty years ago, if he'd been snuggling with Tobio in public, the reactions would be completely different.

Love wins, he thought happily.

"Look, whatever happens this weekend... Whatever my parents say, especially if it's about you... Ignore it, okay? They aren't bad people. They just don't understand."

Hinata nodded, feeling his eyelids growing heavy against the warmth of the late spring and Tobio's body heat.

"Don't worry. I've been through worse."

He felt Tobio stiffen underneath him. Suddenly, he was being wrapped by a pair of strong, sturdy arms. He felt Kageyama's breath on the top of his hair. "I'm so proud of you. I just wanted you to know that." His chest rose as he took a breath. He pulled away, uncomfortable now after saying something so emotional. He set Shouyou's head back on his shoulder. "Don't forget that, you dumby."

Hinata cuddled up closer. "We'll make it through this weekend. Don't worry. No matter what your parents say, I'll be there." He chuckled. "And my mom, too."

Kageyama groaned, still smiling. "Don't remind me."
