Chapter 31 : The date

Constance was in the bathroom, doing finishing touches. She didn't know if it was good the way she was looking, but it was all she could do. She got out of the room and slowly walked to the living-room where Jane and Will were sitting on the couch, and Jonathan and Joyce waiting for her.

- "Um, so? How do I look?"

- "You look weird," frowned Jane.

- "Thank you."

- "No, I mean, you look great, but weird."

- "I got it. The shirt is not too much?"

- "No, it's great! You wear it better than me!" stated Jonathan. "Why didn't you take my jacket?"

- "It was too much, I was looking like a penguin."

- "I like penguins!" told Jane.

- "I know, but that's not the point," answered Constance.

- "I should draw penguins."

- "Yeah, do that. So, everything is fine?"

- "Yeah, you look very great," smiled Joyce.

- "She is gonna be surprised by your hair," said Jonathan.

- "Oh yeah! That's why it's weird!" intervened Jane.

- "My hair? What's wrong with my hair?" frowned the blonde teen.

- "You brushed it! Usually, it's more...messy."

- "Yeah! Like Jonathan in the morning where his hair is going in every direction!" told Will.

- "My hair is not going in every direction!" said the teen boy.

- "Mine neither!" added Constance.

- "Mom!"

Jonathan turned to Joyce for some support, but the woman pursed her lips before slowly nodding. The teen boy flattened his hair.

- "I'm alone in this."

- "Yep," smiled Constance. "I'll go before I have nice compliments like this!"

- "You look great, it's gonna be ok," said Joyce.

- "Yeah, I hope."

Jane jumped from the couch to hug her sister before kissing her cheek. Constance said goodbye and left the house. When she arrived, Robin was waiting in front of the mall.

- "Hey, nice outfit," smiled Robin.

- "Thanks, you too!" answered Constance. "You're freezing, don't get sick just for me!"

- "I didn't want you to get lost."

- "I'm never lost."

- "If you say so."

Constance playfully pushed her while Robin was proudly chuckling. The two girls entered and decided to take the elevator to go to the last floor to avoid the crowd in the stairs, and especially because they were late for the movie. By luck, they managed to take one empty and were the only ones inside. They were halfway when the elevator stopped, and the lights turned off.

- "Um...I hope you're not claustrophobic," told Constance, pushing the buttons of their floor like if it could repair it.

- "No, you?"

- "No, I'm fine, but I don't know if we'll see the movie!"

- "Or if we'll eat!" added Robin.

- "Or even go back to our homes!"

- "Or leave this elevator alive!"

The two girls slowly turned their heads with their eyes wide opened to give a dramatic aspect of the situation, before bursting into laugh. Constance called the security man who told them someone was coming, they just had to wait. The two girls sat.

- "So, as we're stuck forever, what about knowing a bit better each other?" proposed Robin.

- "Sure, go on, I'm listening," smiled Constance.

- "Tell me an anecdote about you."

- "Um, well...let me think...well, there is this one time where I wanted to participate to a motorcycle race."

- "Wait, you can ride a motorcycle?"

- "Nope!"

- "What were you doing in a race then!?" chuckled Robin.

- "Trying to win!"

- "You didn't?"

- "Of course not! I asked a guy to lend me his motorbike and to explain me how to ride it."

- "He accepted?"

- "Not at the beginning, but I told him if I won, I would give him half of the prize, which was a thousand dollars. He hesitated but accepted. We went to a hill to train. It was complicated at first, but with time, I became a little bit better, so he wanted me to try to climb the hill with the motorbike. I was like "yeah, sure, easy," but it wasn't. I struggled to reach the top and when I was about to arrive, I bumped into a tree and bounced back with the bike before rolling the entire hill with the bike! I had a massive bruise on my ribs, it was so awful, I thought I had an internal hemorrhage," explained Constance with light chuckles.

- "No way! That's so stupid, you could have killed yourself!" giggled Robin.

- "Totally!"

- "You did the race?"

- "Yep, I fell at the first bump!"

- "Oh nice, so useful!" chuckled Robin.

- "I know! It was so good an idea!" said ironically Constance.

The two girls kept laughing before taking deep breathes to calm themselves.

- "And you? Any anecdote?"

- "I was fearing this question."

- "It was your idea!" stated Constance with an amused tone.

- "I know, but I was looking for another anecdote than the one I have in my mind."

- "I'm curious now, I wanna know the one you have in your mind!"

- "Ok, ok, but don't mock me!"

- "This is not my type!"

- "No, not at all!" lightly chuckled Robin. "Ok, so, it was at the beginning of my admission in the fanfare, and we had to play for the Football match, as usual, before the match to warm the ambience, but I was so stressed that I was feeling sick!"

- "Oh no, I think I know what happened," smiled Constance.

- "Believe me, it's worse," told Robin. "So, the fanfare began, it was fine, but as long as I was playing, I was feeling this hot liquid slowly arriving in my throat before finishing in my mouth!"

- "You puked?"

- "Not yet, I kept it in my mouth the entire show, plus, we had to dance while playing, I was faking playing trumpet and trying to follow the steps, hoping no one would notice, but there was one problem in this, I was supposed to make a solo at the end."

- "Oh my god, what did you do!?"

- "When it was my part, there was a complete silence in the entire stadium, everyone was looking at me, waiting for me to play, so, I tried to swallow a bit—"

- "Ew," pouted Constance with a disgusted face.

- "But it got me sicker, so a massive spurt got out of my mouth, like an explosion!" explained Robin before giggling.

- "Squirtle! Water gun attack!"

The two girls were laughing when the doors finally opened. They got outside, their eyes full of tears, before sitting on a bench to calm down. As the movie was already begun, they decided to go directly at the restaurant. It wasn't their lucky day apparently; they waited more than an hour to have their first plate, and Robin's finished on her tee-shirt as the waiter fell when he arrived next to her. They both gave up and quickly finished their meal before leaving the place.

- "We should kiss or it's too risky after all of this?" joked Constance.

- "I guess we've nothing more to lose!" answered Robin.

Constance had a light chuckle before beginning to stress. She had never kissed someone before, she didn't know how to do that. Constance gently put her hands on the other girl's cheeks before slowly leaning to her and placing her lips on hers. The kiss was short, but both girls felt a pleasant warm inside her. When they broke the kiss, they were both blushing and smiling.

When Constance arrived at Joyce's house, she wasn't expecting an audience applauding her to welcome her.

- "You waited all this time just to mock me?" smiled Constance.

- "Stuck in an elevator for a first date is not common!" mocked Jonathan.

- "Yeah, yeah, it wasn't that bad."

- "You spent a nice night?" asked Joyce.

- "Yeah, it was cool, we had lots of fun."

- "I think we all wanna know. Did you kiss?" said the teen boy.

- "Uh, no, I don't wanna know, it's disgusting," answered Jane.

- "I won't answer anyway," told Constance.

As it was late, no one insisted, especially because only Jonathan was curious. Constance fell asleep calm, with a small smile in her face, looking forward to seeing Robin again.
