Air Leo

Nobody's POV

"Hey, Janelle, how about that lunch special today?" Leo asks walking over to Janelle in the school hall.

"Really? That's your opener?" She asks, not impressed by Leo's lame opener.

"Well, I was gonna go with "Where have you been all my life?" but I'm only, like, 14, so... What are you up to?" Leo says, making Giselle laugh slightly.

"I'm signing people up for the annual one-on-one basketball tourney." Janelle says showing Leo the sign up sheet.

"Ew. How'd you get stuck doing that?" Leo chuckles.

"I love basketball." Janelle says.

"Me, too! I too love the basketball. In fact, they call me Hoop Master Leo." Leo lies, trying to sound cool in front of Janelle.

"No, they don't." Janelle says bluntly.

"No, they don't." Leo mutters, his face going red from embarrassment.

"Oh, hey, do you wanna sign up for the one-on-one tourney? We need people badly." Janelle begs as people walk past

"Oh. Sign me up." Leo says.

"Not that badly." Janelle mutters, not wanting Leo to take part in the tourney.

"One-on-one tourney? Don't you mean "The Trent Show"? Starring Trent... With a special appearance by... Trent." Trent mocks strutting over.

"Trent, you're the five-time champ. I already signed you up." Janelle sighs, sick of hearing the jokes irritating voice.

"Soon to be six-time champ." Trent chuckles before walking away, no doubt off to pick on another kid.

"No one's signing up for the tournament because he wins every year." Janelle groans.

"Hey guys, what are you doing?" Mia asks walking over.

"Janelle needs people to sign up for the basketball tourney." Leo explains.

"Sign me up." Mia says turning towards Janelle.

"You play basketball?" Janelle asks, shocked that a girl with such a small stature would be any good at sport.

"Oh yeah, I was on the basketball team for a while." Mia says with a smirk.

"You accidentally walked onto the court during practice and Larry Stintson slam dunked you into the net." Leo chuckles, wiping the smirk right off Mia's face.

"Do you know what Mia, your in. No one else has the guts to go up against Trent." Janelle says handing Mia the sign up sheet.

"Check it out, it's a wild nerd." Trent cackles walking over and giving Leo a wedgie, causing everyone in the hall to laugh at him.

"Ha ha. Never gets old Trent." Leo squeals, trying to keep a speck of pride by not screaming.

"And no matter what I do, Trent always makes me look like a fool in front of Janelle." Leo sighs as he rants to Chase in the lab.

"Well, he does get a little help from you in that area." Chase chuckles, making Leo send a sharp glare in his direction.

"How awesome would it be if I could beat him in that basketball tournament? That would impress her." Leo says, imagining him beating Trent and Janelle loving him.

"Hey guys, what are you doing?" Mia asks walking into the lab.

"She made it worse too. Why did you sign up for the basketball tourney?" Leo groans walking over to Mia.

"I'm helping you." Mia says, pulling a 'duh' face.

"How is making me look stupid and entering the competition I want to win helping me!?" Leo snaps.

"Think about it. Trent will automatically be in the final anyway, so you'll need to play someone else. I'll lose so you look good in front of Janelle. That will get you in her good books." Mia explains, obviously showing she'd put a lot of thought into the plan.

"Thanks, but what about Trent? I'm gonna need a secret weapon to beat him." Leo sighs.

"Wait a second." Chase says, cutting off their conversation,

"Uh-oh, you just turned on that Chase I'm-smarter-than-you-and-I-have-a-big-idea light-bulb face! It's not your best look, by the way." Leo sighs.

"Davenport has been working on an anti-gravity high-top sneaker for astronaut training. Maybe the sneakers will up your game with a few gravity-defying slam dunks." Chase explains, pulling out the high tech shoes.

"Chase, not to play the obvious card, but there is no way my compact kickers are gonna fit into those shoe canoes." Leo says, pointing to the bricks known as shoes in Chases hand.

"Yeah, I don't think Adam could fit into them and he has huge feet." Mia chuckles.

"Just put 'em on." Chase groans handing the shoes to Leo. Leo puts the shoes on and they instantly shrink to his size, fitting him perfectly.

"Whoa! Oh, yeah, baby!" He chuckles standing up. He starts to jump up and down in the boots and they launch him across the room.

"Say hello to Air Leo!" Leo shouts.

"Now for the real test." Chase says.

"Dunk this basketball into that net over there." Mia explains handing Leo a basketball and pointing to a net across the room. Leo jumps across the room and dunks the ball into the net with ease, making him look like a professional basketball player.

"Yes! Did you see that? I don't need these shoes. That was all me." Leo chuckles, receiving a 'really' look from Mia and Chase.

"Okay, it was the shoes." Leo mutters.

He had this tourney in the bag.

"Ready? Okay! We're dynamite! We're dynamite! We're tick-tick-tick-tick-boom! Dynamite! We're boom! Dynamite! Whoo! Boom! Boom!" Bree chants as she dances around the living room, a pom-pom in either hand.

"Bree, you scared me! I thought you blew up!" Adam gasps running into the room.

"No, I was practicing my cheer." Bree says, smirking slightly at her brothers stupidity.

"Oh, you mean... tick-tick-tick-tick-boom! We're dynamite! We're boom! Also, what is boom dynamite? I'm all excited and I don't even know what it is!" Adam chuckles jumping up and down.

"Adam, that's the beauty of cheerleading. You don't have to think." Bree says.

"Then it's perfect for me! I cannot wait for tryouts." Adam gasps.

"Wait, you're trying out?" Bree asks, hoping her brother will say no.

"Duh, you just saw my mad tick-boom-pow skills! Pow!" Adam shouts.

"You can't try out for cheerleading. That's my thing. And besides, there's only one spot open on the squad, and you do not wanna compete against me." Bree says, trying to intimidate Adam.

"Yes, I do. See, cheerleading is one of the few sports that isn't competitive enough to raise my adrenaline and make me glitch out. So primp up your pompoms, Girly, 'cause I'm about to...Be aggressive! Be-e aggressive!" Adam says, performing a small cheerleading chant once again.

"Again, I'm all excited and I don't even know why!" Adam shouts.

"Attention, everyone! Trent is now in session! All bow to the honorable Trent! Is there anyone brave enough to challenge me in the tourney yet? Oh, I've got an itch to crush a dream or two. Who's gonna be my ointment?" Trent mocks walking around the hall, shoving people as he goes.

"Ladies and gentlemen... If I may have your attention, I present to you the soon-to-be champion of the one-on-one basketball tourney- Dunkin' Leo Dooley!" Chase shouts as Mia opens the front door to the school, revealing Leo dressed like a bit of a moron.

"Will assist, flick a wrist, win the game, and pump a fist! You think it'll go down smoothly? Well, you've never played a champ like Dooley!" Leo shouts running into the hall.

"Oh, yeah? Well, I'm the dude who's gonna...somebody give me some words that rhyme." Trent stammers, not liking the fact that someones showing him up.

"Leo, what are you doing?" Janelle asks as Leo walks over.

"He is signing up for the Hoop-A Palooza. Don't miss the event of the school year, where Trent will be destroyed by a scrawny underdog 1/16th his size!" Chase shouts pointing to Leo.

"Laying it on a little thick, aren't ya?!" Leo snaps glaring at Chase.

"Nope." Mia chuckles, making Leo switch his glare to her.

"Let me help you with that." Janelle says pulling the sign up sheet away from Leo.

"Hey! I wanna sign up! I can play ball!" Leo shouts.

"He can play ball!" Chase and Mia add.

"I've been practicing."

"He has been practicing!"

"Miracles do happen."

"Miracles do hap-"

"Stop! Stop it!" Janelle snaps, sick of the constant shouting.

"Yeah, stop it! I wanna play!" Leo shouts.

"Okay, fine. Trent, I guess you have another opponent." Janelle sighs, reluctant to letting Leo take part.

"I'll see you on the court. And try not to be so short. Just rhymed!" Trent mocks walking off, shoving small kids out of the way as he goes.

"Wait, another opponent?!" Mia shouts.

"No! No!" Bree shouts storming towards the school gym, Adam following close behind.

"Please, please, please?" He begs, really wanting to try out for cheerleading.

"Okay, fine!" Bree groans, sick of her brothers constant whining.

"Yes!" He shouts pumping his fists in the air.

"I'll think of a number between one and five and if you guess it right, you can try out before me." Bree explains, planning to trick her dimwitted brother.

"Hmm... Four!" Adam guesses.

"Nope, you lose." Bree lies.

"How do you always win that game?" Adam gasps, thinking his sister is some kind of genius.

"Next we have Riley, Bella, Olive, Siri, and Tommy." One of the cheerleaders call as Adam and Bree walk into the room. "Uh, that's a no. No. Never. Nice try. And... You might wanna think about tennis. Bye! Totes thanks for coming!" The cheerleader says, not even letting those trying out say anything. "Next we have Adam and Bree." The cheerleader calls.

Adam and Bree step in front of the cheerleaders, each with a pair of pom-poms in their hands.

"And cheer!" The cheerleaders shouts.

"We're dynamite! We're dynamite! We're tick-tick-tick-" Bree and Adam chant.

"Okay, okay, I've heard enough." The head cheerleader says, cutting off the cheer. "Better luck next year." She says to Bree. "And welcome to the squad!" She says to Adam.

"How is that possible?! He spent all morning wearing my pompoms as a wig!" Bree gasps, shocked that Adam was picked instead of her.

"Oh, not a wig! Secret agent disguise." Adam says, pulling a 'duh' face.

"We need someone to catch us when we dismantle the pyramid. There have been a few problems." The cheerleader says nodding to another cheerleader, who's wearing a huge neck brace. "It's ironic 'cause she's a total pain in the neck." The cheerleader mutters.

"See ya at rehearsal! Him, not you." The cheerleader says, glaring at Bree.

"What'cha hidin' there?" Trent asks walking over to Chase, who is sat with the gravity boots.

"Nothin'. How ya doing, Trent?" Chase stammers..

"Oh! These are some cool kicks! Thanks for donating to the Trent-Likes-Your-Stuff fund!" Trent chuckles taking the shoes away from Chase.

"Trent, those are Leo's. You-you can't-" Chase stammers.

"Well, not anymore." Trent says cutting Chase off.

"They're not even your size." Chase says as Trent puts them on, the size of them changing to match Trent's feet. "Yet they fit perfectly." Chase sighs.

"Thank you for providing me with the proper footwear to kick your friend's and sisters butt." Trent chuckles shoving Chase over and running out of the room.

"We have a major problem. Trent stole your sneakers." Chase gasps running over to Mia and Leo.

"No. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no!" Leo and Mia shout in unison.

"Calm down, calm down, calm down. Let's look at the bright side." Chase says.

"What's the bright side?" Leo asks.

"He is gonna kick your butts much faster now." Chase says, making Mia and Leo give him a sharp glare.

"Ok Mia, your up against Trent first." Janelle says walking over.

"Uh...quick Chase. Use your nerd powers to get me out of this." Mia gasps ducking behind her older brother.

"Mia you've got to play. That way, I can find a way to get the shoes back or make it difficult for Trent to use them." Chase mutters, just loud enough for Mia and Leo to hear.

"He's right." Leo adds.

"Fine but if I die, all my stuff is going to Adam and Bree." Mia groans walking towards the basketball court.

"First match up: Mia Davenport Vs Trent!" Janelle calls through the gym.

"Go on Mia! You got this!" Chase shouts.

"Come on Mia. You got this." Mia mutters under her breath. She could do this.

"Ow." Mia groans as she falls through the basketball net, landing flat on her back.

"And Trent dunks the dork! Who's next!" Trent shouts running around the court, trampling on Mia as he goes.

"Mia are you ok?" Chase asks running over to his little sister and helping her up, Leo following close behind.

"Ok, you are officially my least favourite sibling right now!" Mia shouts.

"All right, 30 seconds 'til game time. Trent's got first ball." Janelle says blowing the whistle.

"Trent is wearing my sneakers! What am I supposed to do?!" Leo shouts.

"Run. Run far, far away. Cry like a baby and hope for sympathy. Fake a cramp!" Chase stammers.

"Is that all you've got? Where's that unattractive light-bulb face when I need it?" Leo says, receiving a glare from Chase in return.

"I've got it!" Chase gasps. "I'll be right back. Stall." He says before running out of the room.

"You've got this Leo." Mia says limping over to the bleachers. Leo wasn't exactly optimistic. If the bionic girl couldn't beat Trent, what chance did he have?

"All right, play to 11. Best two out of three games wins." Janelle says as Leo walks into the middle of the court.

"Wait, wait, wait, wait. How many is that?" Leo asks, trying to stall like Chase said.

"Two out of three." Janelle says, looking at Leo like he's a complete idiot.

"Okay, so somebody wins three then..." Leo mutters.

"No, Leo. It's two out of three." Janelle interrupts.

"Wait, is it two or is it three-" Leo adds, trying to stall for even longer.

"Game on!" Trent shouts, making Janelle blow the whistle to commence the game. "Oh! These shoes are so springy! They're the best things I've swiped all day!" He shouts jumping up and down, going soaring in the air.

"Oh! Charlie horse!" Leo gasps, pretending that one of his knees have buckled.

"Oh, what a faker. Walk it off." Trent scoffs.

"Aah! Double Charlie horse!" Leo shouts buckling his other knee, making the whole crowd groan.

He had to stall for as long as possible.

"Ready? Okay!" The head cheerleader, who Adam had learnt is called Stephanie, shouts.

"Two, four, six, seven, who do we appreciate?!" Adam chants, flailing his arms around like a drunken pelican.

"That was great, Adam. My favorite part was when you stopped talking." Stephanie says sharply.

"Aw." Adam says, thinking that Stephanie's comment is a compliment.

"Now get ready. We're about to perform at the Hoop-A Palooza, and I don't need to tell you how important this is." Stephanie orders.

"Got it." Adam says walking to the doors of the gym, only to be greeted by the sight of his sister sat all alone at the bleachers. "Hey, look, I know I took the last spot on the squad, but do you think you could make room for my sister Bree? I think she's kinda mad at me." Adam asks turning back towards Stephanie.

"Yeah, not gonna happen. If we let her join, she won't feel the true sting of rejection. And I generously try to give everyone that experience." Stephanie says, her answer confusing Adam. "Girls, come look at this. Ew. She looks like my pet pug when I paint her paw nails against her will." Stephanie mocks pointing at Bree.

"Hey, stop talking about my sister like that." Adam says.

"Um, I'm cheer captain. I talk, you listen." Stephanie orders.

"No, when it comes to defending my sister, I'm gonna talk all I want. In fact, I quit the squad." Adam says throwing his pom-poms on the floor.

"Game one, shut out! How 'bout a shout-out for the shut-out?! Hoo! Still rhyming'!" Trent mocks just as Adam makes his way over to Bree.

"Shouldn't you be off somewhere juggling airheads?" Bree asks as Adam sits down beside her.

"Yeah, but I quit the squad." Adam sighs.

"What? Why?" Bree asks.

"I can't say why because it'll hurt your feelings that they were making fun of you." Adam says, clueless that he just answered Bree's questions.

"Wait, you quit the team because they were making fun of me?" Bree asks.

"I just told you I can't say that." Adam says.

"Adam, we have moves that are way better than anything they have. We should just do our own cheer!" Bree suggests.

"Oh, good idea! We'll see how they like it when we hit 'em with the Turbo Booty Shake!" Adam chuckles.

"Hey guys." Mia says limping over to her older siblings.

"What happened to you?" Adam asks.

"Were you attacked by the football team again? I told you not to irritate them." Bree sighs.

"Not exactly. Trent threw me through the basketball net." Mia sighs.

"Eh, thats not the first time." Adam says.

"Where have you been? I tried stalling, but I ran out of injuries to fake." Leo asks running over to Chase.

"The compound in the sneakers is highly susceptible to electron beams. So I ran home and got these electron-beam generators from the lab." Chase explains holding up two small devices.

"And those will mess up the shoes?" Leo asks.

"Mm-hmm. Say hello to "attract" and "repel." I'll make Trent dance like a puppet. If I were less mature, I'd evil laugh." Chase cackles, putting on a small evil laugh as well. Leo walks back onto the court, a small smirk on his face as he goes.

"Okay, first player to score 11 points wins the second game. Go!" Janelle says, commencing the game.

Chase uses the electron beams to make the shoes go haywire, causing Trent to fly around the room.

"Whoa! What is this?! What is this- What is this magic?!" Trent screams, making everything in the gym laugh at him.

"Hey! You're not a cheerleader! Quit stealing our boom-pow!" Adam snaps, causing everyone to laugh at Trent even more.

"Hey! Stop laughing at me! I'm supposed to laugh at you!" Trent whines.

"What are you doing?" Janelle asks walking over to Chase.

"I am... cheering. Go, Leo!" Chase chuckles, pretending the electron beams are glow sticks.

"I want my old shoes back!" Trent shouts taking off Leo's shoes and throwing them to the ground, running out of the gym in shame.

"Okay, since Trent left the court, I guess game two goes to Leo." Janelle sighs.

"That's right! Leo, me, winner! Small's the new tall, y'all! Bam!" leo shouts running around the gym, everyone cheering for him as he goes.

"Go, Dingoes!" The cheerleaders shout running into the middle of the gym.

"Ugh, move back! I'm in front!" Stephanie snaps shoving the other cheerleaders behind her. "Ready? Okay!" She shouts, initiating the cheer.

"We're dynamite! We're dynamite! We're tick-tick-tick-tick-boom! Dynamite!" They chant, performing their cheer.

"Cheer bomb!" Bree and Adam shout as Bree cartwheels into the middle of the gym, causing the cheerleaders to split off to the sides.

"Oh-ho-ho! Oh, Stephanie, can you do that? No, I didn't think so!" Adam chuckles walking into the middle of the gym.

"Ready? Okay! Ooh, what's that? What do I see? Bree cheers better than Stephanie!" Bree chants as her and Adam perform their cheer.

"Hold up there! Not so fast! Stephanie's a thing of the past!" Adam chants.

"Better call your mom! It's a cheer bomb! Huh!" Bree chants.

"Ring, ring! Hello? Oh, it's your mom!" Adam shouts pretending to hand Bree a phone.

"Hey there, mom! It's a cheer bomb!" Bree shouts as Adam lifts her into the air.

"Cheer bomb!" They both shout punching their fists in the air, causing Adam to accidentally send out a plasma grenade.

"Uh... Yeah, that's right. Special effects. When we say "boom," we mean boom!" Bree stutters.

"Yeah, and when we say "brunch," we mean a delicious combination of breakfast and lunch!" Adam shouts, acting like he's a complete and utter genius.

"Did you have anything to do with that little display of Dancing with the Jocks?" Janelle asks walking over to Mia, Chase and Leo.

"Don't look at me. My heads still woozy from my trip to net-land." Mia groans rubbing the side of her head.

"What makes you think that I would be responsible for giving Trent his comeuppance for always picking on smaller, smarter, cuter people?" Leo asks.

"Yeah, not Leo. Nope." Chase stutters.

"You're right, it's crazy to think the guy with the inventor dad and genius brother would somehow use electron beams to manipulate Trent's shows so you'd win." Janelle says pulling out Trent's shoes.

"Hey Adam, Bree wait up!" Mia shouts running over to her siblings, trying to say out of the whole situation.

"Good luck, buddy." Chase says.

"Leo... You know why I can't stand Trent? Because all he does is make people look bad. And now you're doing the exact same thing." Janelle sighs before walking away.

"I guess there's only one thing left to do." Leo says.

"Yep, I agree." Chase adds.

"Get out there and lose fair and square." Leo sighs, knowing that the only thing he can do to put this right.

"What?! No! That's a terrible idea! I was gonna say slip out the back door." Chase says.

"Okay, let's finish this thing. And this time, you're getting the real Leo." Leo says walking onto the court.

"Okay. First one to 11 wins. Good luck, Leo." Janelle says.

"Good luck, Leo." Trent mocks as Janelle blows the whistle.

"Come on, Leo. Don't give up. Leo! Leo!" Everyone shouts as Trent keeps scoring past him.

Leo somehow gets the ball from Trent and scores a point.

"Yes! I did it! I scored a point! That was nothing but net! And rim and backboard, but it went in!" Leo shouts. When he's not looking Trent grabs the ball and scores another point, winning the game.

"Yes! Winner, right here! I'll be signing foreheads in the hallway!" He shouts running out of the gym.

"Leo, you may have lost, but that shot was awesome! And you did it on your own, without any gimmicks or gadgets." Janelle says walking over to Leo.

"Nope, I just relied on the other "G"- Greatness!" Leo sighs.

At least Janelle was no longer mad at him.

"Chase! Chase! He's our man! Typing on the keyboard like no one can! Chase! Chase! He's ou-" Bree and Adam chant.

"Guys. Guys! Do you really have to do that? It is so annoying!" Chase groans.

"Chase, you don't understand. It's part of our creative process and you're our muse." Adam says.

"Hey guys. Whats up?" Mia asks walking into the lab, eating a small green apple.

"Mia! Mia! She's our girl! Eating apples like no one can!" Bree and Adam chant.

"Small and whiney!" Adam chants.

"Stupid and tiny!" Bree chants.

"Chase your my favourite sibling again." Mia groans walking over to her brother.

"Don't just sit there, clap and cheer!" Bree shouts.

"You can't be a downer all year!" Adam chants.

"Sto- Stop!" Chase screams, sick of the constant chanting.

"No! No! No!" Mia shouts running out of the room, Chase following close behind.

"Chase and Mia are mad!" Bree chants.

"Let's sing them a cheer to make them glad!" Adam shouts before running after his youngest siblings, Bree following close behind.

Let's just say that all the chanting made Mia glitch. You can probably guess what happened next.
