(Mariah POV)

Two weeks, It's been two weeks since I left the ninja world. Technically I'm still in the ninja world but.............it's complicated. Kurayami was sitting before me with more scrolls for me to read next to her. For the past two weeks I've been sending her out to gather scrolls on every Kekkai Genkai I've copied. When I'm not reading then I'm practicing fighting with my Paths. So far I'm improving with the Renningan which is a huge benefit. I can control four at once which is good but I need all six to be better.

"Kurayami, are they back yet?" I asked.

"Yes, they're arriving right now." She answered.

"I'll let them in,"

I opened up the vortex thingy and then my little friends came in for their report.

"So how'd it go?" I asked them.

"Hehe pretty good," one answered.

"How come I don't like the way that you said that."

"Oh I bet once I tell you what I did you'll laugh,"

"What did you do?" I asked suspiciously.

"I jumped on Naruto's head making him run in circles." He laughed.

I face palmed at the little squirrels actions.

"Just tell me what happened."

"Naruto is pretty mad that no one can find you and everyone is looking for you. Um Naruto is going to an island to train and where he will be safe from the Akatsuki. That's all."

"Okay well how about you?" I asked turning to the bird.

"I was on the island and Naruto is beginning to befriend the 8 tails." She replied.

"Hm it's good that they're getting along; that will lead to problems for Madara. And what about you?"

I turned to the last animal, the mouse.

"Sasuke is still blind but he could tell right away that I was important. He was about to kill me but stopped; he even fed me! I can tell that he wants to find you; I hear him talking about you. He talks in his sleep."

At what he said I looked down in sadness but covered it up.

"Heh well, he'll find me sooner or later. But when he finds me he won't be too happy. You're dismissed, let me know if something major happens."

They bowed then disappeared out of this place.

"Mariah-chan....................are you sure that its healthy for you to be here?" Kurayami asked.

"Of course it's healthy. Why would you think otherwise?"

"Um well because I can tell that you're hurting from seeing these images."

"I'll be fine; they're nothing to me now."

"I know you're lying to yourself Mariah-chan. These mean everything to you, that's why we're here."

"No, we're here so I can see what I have overcome and the reason on why we're here in the first place."

"But it just isn't-"

"I don't care!" I snapped.

She was silent and stared at me with worried eyes then bowed her head. I sighed and started to stroke her head.

"I'm sorry.............it's just.............the stress and stuff........"

"I understand Mariah-chan............I just wish you didn't hurt yourself like this."

"It has to be done Kurayami," I said looking away from her.

"No it doesn't! Why are you doing this to yourself! You're causing yourself such emotional pain!"

"Kurayami-"

I felt a sting on my cheek; she scratched me. I lifted my hand up to my face and touched the spot where she scratched me. I pulled away and saw the fresh blood on my palm. I looked at her to see tears in her eyes.

"Please.........stop.............." She pleaded.

"She's..........really that worried about me?" I thought surprised.

"Kurayami............I assure you that I'm perfectly fine. This place isn't affecting me at all."

"You promise?"

"I promise." I assured with a smile.

I went back to reading my scrolls until I looked up. I saw that in my memories that I was in was at the part where I was put onto team 7. I felt a stab at my heart when I saw us together as a team. We will never be like that again.........ever............

Everything started to get blurry. Tears threatened to come out but I tried my best to hold them back. It was futile; they were streaming down my face. I watched as the memories unfolded. When we were on the mission to catch the cat, protecting Tazuna, fighting Zabuza, the Chuunin exams, the Hokage's death, Sasuke's and I's date, my first kiss, all the time I've spent with Sasuke.

"Mariah-chan! Stop the memories!!!" Kurayami yelled.

I snapped out of it and stopped the kekkai genkai. Falling.........I was falling..................I opened my eyes to see that I was in the air plummeting to the ground. I looked to the side of me to see Kurayami next to me unconscious. I reached out and grabbed her then activated my shield as we hit the ground. The dust cleared and we were both fine.

My chakra level was low but at least no one would find us. I looked around to see that we were in the Demon country...............not good..............I got to my feet and looked around. I saw the there were trees but they were dead. Everything was dead where we were. I sighed and ran my hand through my hair.

"Great.........just great..." I muttered.

I looked over to see Kurayami regaining consciousness.

"Where are we?" She groaned.

"Demon country."

"WHAT?!" She yelled.

I ran over and covered her mouth.

"Shh, they might here you." I whispered.

She nodded so I removed my hand from her mouth.

"We have to get out of here, the ninja here are savages."

"Mariah-chan, we're bound to run into at least one of them."

"Don't worry, we'll be fine."

"Are you sure?"

"Positive, now let's get out of here."

We started to walk away from the area cautiously.

"How did we get here anyway?" Kurayami questioned.

"I don't know, maybe because I wanted to be far away from Madara as possible. This is VERY far and I doubt he'd look for me here anyway, but we can't be too safe."

I was on high alert. My senses were on overdrive. This area was the worse place to be; even for Madara. This country is isolated from the rest of the world because of its people. (idk what it's really like so I'm just going with this) The people here are savages and they say that demons terrorize the country which drove them crazy.

As we were walking I heard a snap of a twig. I sensed someone approaching us not too far away. They don't have a huge chakra level but I was still on high alert. Since everything is dead there was nowhere to hide so we had to face them head on. I turned around and saw a figure approaching. As the person got closer I could fully see what it looked like.

It was a little girl with blue hair and blue eyes. She looked about nine years old. I noticed that she was limping as she walked. I looked into her eyes to see a shred of hope but also sadness. I didn't sense any hostility from her as she got closer. Kurayami was on edge but I placed a hand on her head signaling for her to calm down. I looked back at the girl and saw that she was covered in blood.

"How did you get into this country stranger?" She questioned.

"I............don't know...." I answered.

She stepped closer to me and placed her tiny hand over my heart.

"You've be hurt......so many times..............betrayed............you're afraid to trust........"

She looked up at me and looked in my eyes.

"You also have evil in you.................a demon..........but something is strange about this demon.................he's not all that evil.............."

"What are you talking about?"

"Come.....I'll take you to me village.......we can help you get home......"

She turned away from me and started to walk. Kurayami and I looked at each other in question. We then looked back at the girl and started to follow. She led us to a more......alive part of the country with some birds and stuff growing. In the distance I saw a little village.

When we entered the village I saw the villagers glaring at us.

"Don't mind them, we're not use to outsiders." She assured.

We then walked up to a building a little bigger than the others in this village. We approached a door and the little girl knocked on it. We heard a 'come in' from what sounded like a male voice. She opened the door and I saw a tall man with blue hair and dark eyes. The girl approached him then bowed.

"I have found the intruders sir," She said.

"Good Suki, thank you for getting them. Now you two, what is your purpose here?" The man said.

"We just appeared here sir, we have no idea how we came to be here." I replied.

"Hmmm what are your names?"

"Mariah and Kurayami."

"I see; do you know how to get back?" He asked.

"No,"

"I guess we could help you,"

"Sir if you don't mind me asking but............I thought that the demon country was supposed to be crazy or possessed or full with demons." I said.

"Well part if that is true. There are demons around here but everything else isn't true anymore. That all happened years ago but I guess everyone just forgot about us. You're the countries first visitor since the second shinobi war."

"Oh.............well...uh we don't really need your help to get out of here.....I can teleport out of here once my chakra is replenished."

"Really?"

"Yeah but sir.........if it's no of trouble............can we please stay here............even if it's just for a day?"

He was silent for awhile.

"I guess,"

"Thank you sir," I bowed.

"Mariah are you nuts?! We can't stay here! Madara is still after you!" Kurayami whispered/yelled.

"Don't worry Kurayami, he can't find us here. This would be the last place he'd check."

"May I ask who is after you?" The leader asked.

"Madara Uchiha,"

"I see, I've heard that he's back...."

"How do you even know what's going on? Your village is isolated."

"Well we have our sources, such as talking to the demons like you do with your companion there."

"Interesting,"

"Yes indeed,"

"How do you endure the demons?" I questioned.

"We have spells and artifacts to ward them off. But they're only around the villages and towns so where you were was demon territory."

"That's very creative but then why would you send Suki to retrieve us? She looks so young."

"It's because Suki has a certain gift. Demons love her so they wouldn't dare harm her."

"That must be a useful gift. Well sir we're very grateful that you're letting us stay in your village."

I turned to walk out.

"Wait,"

I turned back to face him.

"Please stay with my family and I; I don't want you to sleep outside."

"Thank you Sir,"

"Please call me Kiyo,"

"Thank you Kiyo-sama."

"It's no problem,"

He then got up from his seat and went over to us. He picked up Suki putting her on his shoulders and led us out of the building. We walked down the path weaving ourselves down the street to a house. He stepped into it and I looked around. It was pretty plain but had some decorations such as photos and paintings.

"Kiara, we have guests." Kiyo shouted.

Suddenly a woman stepped out of the kitchen. She had dark black hair with a tint of blue and blue eyes. She was average and sent a warm aura. When she spotted us she was surprised.

"Guests? How did they get in the village?" She questioned.

"They transported here. They're going to be staying with us for a while."

A smile came to her face.

"It's a pleasure to meet you and to have you. I'm Kiara, Kiyo's wife and Suki's mother." She greeted.

"My name is Mariah and this is Kurayami."

"Mariah you're so beautiful," She complimented.

"...Thank you............I appreciate the compliment."

"You're so polite, your parents have raised you well."

"Actually I don't have parents...........they died when I was young."

"Oh I'm so sorry Mariah-"

"It's fine......I don't mind...."

"Um well I have dinner ready..............I bet you're hungry......."

"Yeah we haven't eaten in weeks."

We all sat down at the table eating.

"So what's it like beyond these walls?" Kiara asked.

"Nothing really special; I'd rather live here than out there. There's a war going on and everyone is looking for me. They only want me for my power.........That's why I left.....so I couldn't be used as a weapon.... Everyone I've trusted has betrayed me."

"Awe honey.....I'm so sorry."

"Suki was right, you have been hurt." Kiyo said.

"Yeah...............Everywhere I turn everyone betrays me."

"I guarantee you that we wouldn't do anything to harm you Mariah. We're actually very peaceful people. We'll help you with anything that you need."

"Thank you, I appreciate it."

After that we ate our dinner in silence mostly focusing on the food. I started to think about how to get stronger in order to kill Madara. I was getting to into thought that I didn't realize that someone was calling my name.

"Mariah-chan............................Mariah-chan........"

"Yeah?"

"Are you done?" Kurayami asked.

"Yeah," I replied.

"Are you okay?"

"I'm fine; just thinking."

"Okay then, if you're sure."

"Your rooms are ready," Kiara called from down the hall.

I got up from my seat and went down the hall to their guest room. There was a small twin sized bed in the corner of the room along with a little desk. New sheets were neatly placed on the bed. I looked over at Kiara seeing that she was smiling at us. I smiled back at her then sat on the bed.

"Thank you very much."

Once she left us Kurayami curled up on the bed and went to sleep. Not wanting to wake her I climbed out the window and went onto the roof.  Laying there gazing up at the stars I was thinking about what life would have been if Sasuke had never left the village.

"I could've helped him get stronger," I sighed.

"But where would be the fun in that?" A voice asked.

I jumped up to my feet prepared to attack. I didn't even sense anyone and still can't. I looked around me seeing that I was completely alone.

"Who's there?" I questioned.

"I'm here," It said again.

"Where are you? Show yourself!" I commanded.

"I'm right here Mariah...........don't tell me that you've already forgotten about me...........I'm hurt.........."

"No......."I gasped.

"I'm baaaAAAAcccckkkk," It sung.
