Abandon Ships
🚨

"Ma'am, please, you need to stay back."

Lindsey held her arms out and tried to get the crowd to back up. "Please just go back to your homes. The LAFD can't work if you are in the way." She let out a sigh as the people listened and slowly backed away, their eyes still stuck on the destroyed house.

Lindsey's head turned to see the firefighters making their way towards the home. The firefighter with Buckley written on the back turned his head till his eyes met hers. He shot her a wink and she nodded back with a smile.

After a few moments, Lindsey saw Buck making his way out of the destroyed home and towards her. "How's it looking?" She asked and he sighed, "Not great. There's a dummy bomb attached to the jet but it's still explosive. Hen is on the phone right now with the pilot. He's gonna walk us through how to diffuse it."

"Oh my god," Lindsey said as she let out a breath, "And what happens if it doesn't get diffused correctly?"

Placing his hands on her waist, his thumbs rubbing against her stomach, he said, "Just...stay back. I don't need you or the baby hurt." Lindsey scoffed lightly, "And I don't need you dead."

Bitting her lip, she let her hands trail up his arms, "Just...be careful, please."

"I will." He nodded and then leaned forward to kiss her forehead. He gave her one last smile before making his way back into the home.

Lindsey watched until she couldn't see him anymore, and then she took a breath and turned to the people behind her. "Alright, for your safety, I need everyone to take multiple steps back."

Once the crowd was safe, Lindsey adjusted her radio so she was on the same station as the 118. As she listened, her hand twisted at the engagement ring on her left hand.

"Okay, first carefully remove the trigger housing from the nose." An unfamiliar voice said and Lindsey figured it must be the pilot. Then Eddie's voice came through the radio, "Trigger cap is removed. What now?" She thanked god that Eddie had some experience with bombs. She felt a bit better that he was there.

"Okay. Go ahead and snip that red wire...But first, disconnect the white low voltage coupling." The pilot said.

"Okay, Joe. Voltage coupling disconnected."

"Okay, go ahead and cut that green wire." Lindsey's brows furrowed. Didn't he originally say red? This time Bucks voice came through the radio, "Uh...Green? You...you said red."

"Did I?"

Eddie spoke again, "Yeah. You said red."

Lindsey's anxiety began to grow. Her hand moved to rest on her stomach, trying to find some comfort. The baby must have sensed her worry because it began to kick right where her hand had moved to.

"Are you sure?" Joe asked and this time Maddie came through, "Yes! Yes!"

Lindsey couldn't help herself, she grabbed her radio and added, "Yes! You said red! Do you even know what you are doing?" Her last words probably didn't need to be said but she couldn't help it.

"Okay, okay, uh...let's go with red."

Lindsey let out a scoff in shock. Let's go with red? Is he serious? The radio was silent and Lindsey anxiously waited. Her eyes glued to the home.

She let out the breath she was holding as she watched the 118 walk out with the man. Bucks eyes met hers again and he gave her a light smile and nod.

Lindsey made her way up the stairs of the station. "Linds, look at you! You look ready to pop." Hen said as she moved towards Lindsey, her hands resting on Lindsey's stomach.

"I know!" She said with a laugh, "And I still have ten weeks left."

Hen smiled, "Those ten weeks are gonna fly by."

"This whole pregnancy has gone a lot faster than than I thought it would...but enough about me, how's being Captain going?" Lindsey asked as she took a seat at the table, Hen sitting next to her. "A lot easier than the first time, that's for sure."

"Yeah, it probably helps that you don't have to worry about school work this time."

A beeping sound was heard and both women turned to see the truck backing in to the station. Hen looked at Lindsey with a smirk, "That should be your fiancé."

Lindsey rolled her eyes with a laugh. Her head then turned to see Buck and Eddie make their way up the stairs. "Linds, you're here early." Buck said with a smile. He walked over to kiss her but she pulled back, "First, if you want a kiss go wipe your face, you're a mess," She said with a laugh and Buck nodded before walking over to the sink to wipe his face. "And second, this little one was moving so much I could barely focus. Maynard said she would cover the rest of my shift so I could rest."

Eddie moved to sit at the table, "Shouldn't you be going on maternity leave soon?"

"Yes," Buck said before she could answer, "But she decided to cover for Athena while she's gone." He then placed a kiss on her lips and took the seat next to her.

"Anyways," Lindsey said as she turn to Eddie, "I heard someone had a date last night."

Eddie nodded with a laugh, "Yep."

"And how did that go?" Lindsey asked, leaning forward onto her elbows.

"Well..." Eddie trailed off as he looked over at Buck. "Let's just say, Christopher's a player." Buck said and Lindsey jaw dropped.

"No way!"

Eddie sighed, "Yeah, turns out he's been talking to five different girls."

"Sounds a little like Buck 1.0." Hen commented and Buck shot her a playful glare.

"Which is why I was hoping Buck could talk to him. You know, a reformed player to a current player." Eddie said as he patted Buck on the back.

Lindsey couldn't help but laugh, "Oh please! I need to see this!" Eddie nodded with a laugh while Buck shot the two of them glares.

"You want something to drink?" Eddie asked as he moved towards the fridge. "Sure, what do you have?" Lindsey asked.

"Well I do have orange juice..." He watched as Lindsey face twisted to disgust. "Ok, what about pepsi?" Her face twisted even more. "Water?" This time she nodded. "Alright, water it is."

He filled her a glass and handed it to her. "Thanks. Sorry for being picky but some thing's just make me want to puke."

Eddie shrugged, "Don't worry about it, Shannon was the same way when she was pregnant."

They could hear voices down the hall and they turned to look at each other. "Should we?" Eddie asked and Lindsey bit her lip, "Maybe?" Their eyes drifted back down the hall for a moment and then back at each other, "Yeah." They both said and then quickly stood up and moved towards Christopher's room.

"He told me," They heard Buck say, "there might be some other girls that you like as well."

"I like to keep things loose." Lindsey jaw dropped at Christopher's words and she turned to look at Eddie. He just shook his head with a quiet laugh.

"Nice. I feel you." Lindsey rolled her eyes when she heard Bucks voice. He continued to say, "And listen, it's okay you know, to like more than one girl. Uh, it's maybe less okay to let each one of them think they're special, though. You know, it's uh, it's kind of like lying."

"It's not a lie. They're all special." Chris said.

"Okay, uh, yeah, no I get that, I do, um...I think what it is, is when you tell a girl that she's special, it tends to make her think that she's the only one. And then, when she finds out that you've been saying the same thing to a bunch of other girls, it makes her feel not so special anymore. You know, and then they talk and you get a reputation for being a not-so-nice guy, and you want the ladies to think you're a nice guy, right?"

"Does it matter?" Chris asked and Bucks voice stuttered, "What do you mean, does it matter?"

"They just end up leaving anyway."

Lindsey's heart began to sink at Chris's words. Her eyes shifted to see Eddie staring at the wall, his expression held confusion.

"Uh, why would you say that?" Buck asked and Chris responded, "My mom did."

"Uh, Chris, your mom died."

"Before that. She left us. We loved her and she left anyway. I can't remember her voice anymore." Chris said, his voice soft.

Eddie's head fell back against the wall, his face twisting with sadness and his eyes filling with tears. Lindsey wrapped her arms around him and pulled him into a hug. She gave him a light squeeze as a tear fell down his cheek.

"Fell on a cactus, my ass. Those were nail marks. And the maid said that the beds hadn't been slept in all night."

"Woah, Athena...slow down." Lindsey said as she took a seat at the counter. Her arms pushed out so then she could see Athena better through the FaceTime call.

"I don't know where he was last night but I do know where she wasn't. And still isn't." Athena continued to rant. Lindsey sighed, "Athena, please don't say what I think you're saying."

"I think he killed his wife."

Lindsey groaned, "Athena..."

"Come on, think about it. Use those FBI skills of yours," Athena began, "I mean, 106 weeks at sea with the same person? Oh, that can only end in a homicide."

Lindsey shook her head, "Are you feeling okay? Seriously, Athena, just relax. I'm sure there's a reasonable explanation for all of this. It's not like he pushed her overboard."

"No, no, no. I don't think the murder happened on the boat." Lindsey rolled her eyes and muttered to herself, "She didn't even hear me." Athena kept talking, "I mean, they got security cameras all over the damn place."

Lindsey nodded with a raised brow, deciding to go along with Athena's theory, she asks, "Okay, then what about the blood?"

"I mean, it could be his. They got off in Mazatlán, but I don't think she ever got back on. And he did mention something about a sacrificial temple." Athena explained.

"Okay, look, i'm not saying I don't believe you but there might be more to the story than you think. I have to go but I can ask Penelope to look into the two and see if she can find anything on them. Okay?" Lindsey told her and Athena nodded, "Have her look into the cruise ship as well. They've been on the same one the whole time. You'd think they'd get bored of it."

"Okay, I'll tell her. Talk to you soon and please...enjoy your vacation and stop stressing about this." Lindsey pleaded and Athena scoffed, "We'll see."

"Just try. Love you!"

Athena smiled, "Love you too."

Once the call ended, Lindsey sighed as her head fell into her hands, "That woman is going to be the death of me."
