Chapter Fourteen: My first morning at the castle

Lucy's P.O.V

I woke up early the next morning. Rubbing my eyes as I got up and out of bed, and walking towards the two glass doors that lead to the balcony, which were currently blocked by curtains, I pulled them back to look out side. The sun was just rising in the distance, the sky still dark with hints of orange, pink and red outlining things on the earth.

Beyond the sunrise were silhouettes of mountains and land, so I pulled the curtains apart allowing access to the door, I opened the door slowly, getting hit by cold air as I walked out. I wasn't bothered by the cold I was too infatuated with the new world around me. As I reached the edge of the balcony I closed my eyes and took a deep breath in, leaning against the rail as I did so. I opened my eyes and took in the view.

'A lot of things have changed and everything is going to be different,' I thought to myself as I looked down below my balcony. I saw a small part of the castle garden, where there were already people working and gardening. I watched as some people trimmed hedges, plucked flowers,  made bouquet's, watered plants and ticked off things on a piece of paper on a clip board.

I was high up, at least ten stories high but I could still clearly see what the workers were doing. My concentration was directed elsewhere when I heard a roar in the distance to my left. I looked up and saw two dragons flying in the distance, close enough to be able to recognise who they might be. By the look of the emerald scales on  one of them and the blue and white feathered wings on the other they were Zirconis the Jade Dragon and Salacia the Water Dragon. I watched them fly around the castle walls and then part ways into their natural habitats. I looked forward to the day when  I would finally train with them.

I stopped leaning on the rail on the balcony and turned around to walk back inside. I entered my room and looked at a clock in the lounge area to see the time. It was only six thirty in the morning and the sun had just come over the mountain, but didn't illuminate the rest of the sky just yet. I walked over to my bed and tidied it up, I straightened the sheets and blankets and then sat the pillows neatly on the bed. I looked at my work and then looked at the clock again, only six thirty three. I huffed and decided I would take a shower. I walked into the bathroom and turned on the hot water, getting undressed as I waited for the shower to heat up. I got in and adjusted the temperature. I kept it rather hot which made the bathroom steam up and practically turn into a sauna. I made sure to wash my hair and body because I didn't do it last night.

After that I just stood in the warmth of the water and steam, leaning my head against the tiled wall, letting the water run through my hair, down my back and the rest of my body. This warmth reminded me of Natsu. Feeling warm, safe and secure;  it's what I felt when I was around him, but this lacked the feeling and sensation of happiness.

Being reminded of Natsu just made me sad.

I lightly slapped my cheeks to get myself to stop thinking about the man I loved. I snapped back into reality again, Natsu still in my mind but not the focus of my attention. I stood straight and turned off the water. I walked out the shower and grabbed a  towel drying my hair roughly with it and then wrapped it around myself. I walked to the twin sinks and stood in the middle of them, leaning on the bench to rub the misty mirror.

When I was satisfied that I could properly see myself I looked under the sink and found a hair drier. I turned it on and then dried my hair. which took about ten minutes. Then I styled it into a high ponytail that stopped in-between my shoulder blades. Taking note and admiring that my hair had grown, I walked out of the bathroom with the towel still wrapped around me and went into my wardrobe.

I chose something comfortable to wear, a red t-shirt and a denim short overalls. I slipped on comfortable shoes, tied the laces and walked out the wardrobe. I almost bumped into someone though.

"Oh Stella! Sorry I didn't see you there," I said, as I stopped in front of her.

"Sorry for intruding Princess, but you hadn't answered me when I was at the door . I assumed you were asleep still, so I came in to wake you but you weren't in your bed and it was also made..." she said bowing slightly as she apologised.

"Okay, like I told you the other day, please just call me Lucy. Sorry if I worried you, I woke up early so I decided to get ready for the day."

"You didn't have to make your bed, there are people here that can do that for you." Stella said.

"Oh no its not a problem. I prefer to be independent. I'm not so big on people doing things for me anymore." I said with a little bit of a chuckle.

"Very well I shall inform the staff that are appointed to you, but they will still be doing little things for you and they will still cook for you," Stella said authoritatively,as she turned and looked at her clipboard.

"That's fine." I reply.

"Are you still aware that the ball is tonight?" Stella asked

It had slipped my mind till just now.

"Yes, of course." I said

"Good. Now we are scheduled to go down for breakfast at seven thirty, which is in twenty five minutes," Stella remarked as she looked at the clock on the wall.

"After breakfast we will go to the sewing room in order to complete the finishing touches of your ball gown for tonight."

"Will I be eating breakfast with my mother?" I asked.

"No but you will see her before the ball, she is busy  sorting out your training schedule." Stella replied.

"Okay." I said a little sad that I wouldn't see my mother at breakfast, wanting to be able to be with her as much as I can before I start my training in two days.

"Do you have experience with ball dancing?" Stella asked.

"Yes." I say.

"Good, we have dance lessons for the rest of the day, so if it goes well you can leave early and have some free time to relax before the ball," she said as she started to walk towards the door.

She opened it and held it open pointing out to the corridor with the clipboard in hand.

"Shall we go to breakfast then Lucy?" She asked.

I nodded and walked out the door stuffing the maps in my pocket on my way out, Stella close behind me.
