Chapter Fifteen: Getting ready for the ball

Lucy's P.O.V

I stood in a large room with tables, dressing rooms, pieces of material and sewing things everywhere. I am currently standing on a small platform with the ball gown that I will be weary later today already on me. It was a rich red colour, almost as bright as Erza's hair. The skirt part of the dress went down to the floor, red lace spread over it, the torso was the same as the red that is under the lace, with lace bits hanging off like a cape. I looked in the mirror that was in front of me.

"The dress is beautiful.." I say to myself. As I looked at my reflection.

"It is even more beautiful on you Princess Lucy." Igneel said as he walked threw the door.

"Oh, thank you Igneel. And please, just call me Lucy." I say as I look in the direction Igneel came from.

"As you wish." He said, bowing his head slightly.

"There all done." Said the tailor that was fitting my dress for me.

Stella and the tailor stepped away from the platform I was on, so I could get a better look at myself. I stepped off the platform and walked closer to the three mirrors. I twirled a little, smiling as I admired the dress. The beautiful red colour looked stunning. My smile faded though and turned into a frown as I thought about Fairy Tail, and one particular member.

"Are you okay Lucy?" Stella asked. "Are you not happy with the dress?"

"No its perfect its just..." I said pausing as I saw a single tear roll down my cheek.

"You miss your family.." Igneel said, finishing my sentence for me as he looked at me through the mirror.

"Yeah and..." I said.

"You wish that the one who would see you in this dress is Natsu?.." Igneel asked.

I sniffed slightly, not letting anymore tears fall down my face.

"Is it that obvious?.." I asked, looking at Igneel.

He walked closer to me and pulled me into a tight hug.

"No, I've just seen the same look in someone else's eyes many times before." Igneel said pulling away and holding my shoulders whilst looking into my eye's.

"Beautiful.. Just like your mother's.." Igneel said with a smile.

"Thank you.." I said returning the smile.

Igneel pulled me in and kissed my forehead before letting me go.

"Now!" He said cheerfully. "Shall we go start those ball dancing lessons?" He asked.

"Of course." I said smiling. "I'll just get changed out of the gown."

"I will meet you in the second ball room then." Igneel said before leaving the fitting room.

*Time skip to dance practice*

The music was soothing. It was slow and elegant. Igneel held my waist with one hand and my outstretched hand with the other, my free hand resting on his shoulder. We were practicing the waltz. It was fun and easy since I had done it so many times, although to my surprise it had a couple of twists to it.

"Now.. One, Two, Three, one, two, three and spine.." Igneel said as we dance to the music. "One, two, three, one, two, three and lift!" he said lifting me into the air.

I laughed as he did so.

"Very good Lucy, you pick up fast." He said as we continued dancing, only going slightly faster.

"Well you are a good teacher." I said smiling up at him.

"Tell me, who taught you to dance?" He asked.

"My father. He used to pick me up and put me one his feet and that's how I learnt." I replied.

"That's lovely. I'm sure he's very proud of you and the women you have become." He said looking down at me.

"I hope so." I said with a smile, only thinking happy thoughts about my father. "I only wish I could dance with him still.."

"I'm sure he does to. But he wouldn't want you to be up set." Igneel replied.

I smiled at him and nodded. Igneel let go of my hand to look at the time on his watch.

"Well would you look at that. Time really does fly by when your having fun." He said with a chuckle. "Only two hours until the ball, you better go and start getting ready. I'm sure that the guest will be arriving in about an hour."

"Okay, thank you Igneel. I enjoy our time together." I said letting go of him.

"As do I Princess Lucy." He said, giving me a wink as Stella escorted me out the door and back to my room.

Stella and I walked up to my room. Stella opened the door for me and let me enter first. I walked in and standing in the middle of my room on a manikin was my ball gown.

"Okay Lucy. It's time we start getting you ready. Go take a shower and wash yourself before we put on the dress." Stella said opening the bathroom door.

"Okay, I'll be out in a bit." I said as I entered.

I got out the shower about 10 minutes later. I walked out with my hair wrapped in a towel and a bath rob tied around me. Stella was already standing at a dressing table in my wardrobe. I entered and she gestured for me to sit down. I sat in the chair in front of her and she dried my hair with a hair dryer.

"When I'm done drying you hair, we'll put you into the ball gown. After that I will style your hair and then do some light makeup. Then I will give you your jewellery and the shoes that you will be wearing." She said as plain as ever.

"Are you attending the ball Stella?" I asked.

"Yes. I am there to look after you and be at your beck and call." She said.

"Oh." Was all I could really say. "What are you wearing?"

"The black dress over there." She said nodding her head to a black bowl gown, the same shape as mine, but lace only on the torso and no where else.

"Its lovely." I said looking at the dress.

"Okay all done. Now, lets go get ready." She said with a small smile on her face.

After Stella and I got dressed, we both did our make-up and Stella styled my hair. I asked for her to leave it down again, so all she did was curl the ends a bit. She put her own hair into a large hair bun, wearing a diamond headband. She wore a simple silver chain and locket on her neck, along with a silver bracelet and a couple of rings. I only wore a bracelet and two rings on my right hand. Stella had given me red heals to wear with the dress and she wore silver heals. I was on my way to walk out the door and make my way down to ball room one, but Stella stopped me by calling out.

"Princess?" She said.

"What is it?" I asked, turning my head to look at her.

"You forget your tiara." She said, placing it on the top of my head. "Okay, we can go down now."

I smiled at her and we walked out the door, to meet my mother down at the ball room.
