Chapter 7

Lucifi was exhausted by the time his training had ended, his master had demanded he try to use the Force to fight over and over again. Sure he had managed some stuff, when he was frustrated beyond belief, but other than that it had been a struggle to do simple things at will. He was just shocked at the fact he had beaten her in a fight by redirecting that lightning back at her!

His head only hurt worse now though than it had been and seeing her dark saber had, once again, not helped. He wasn't sure why his skull decided to throb whenever he saw the weapon but it did... and it was killing him. Lucifi wanted to scream in pain from the migraine pounding in his skull but instead slumped to the ground and tried to focus on calming his mind, if he did that then it could go away, or at least it could help. Before he knew it, he was even managing to drift off into much needed sleep.

"Dad, I bet you can't catch me!" A young child laughed as he ran through the field.

A man with gray brown hair smiled and gave chase, pretending he was as slow as the child. "Look out, I'm going to catch you!"

The child gave a yelp and darted faster with a laugh before staring over to where an identical child was watching with a grin on his face. "Brother save me! The Sith is going to catch me!"

"So I'm a Sith now huh? Doesn't that mean I can use the Force?" The man teased as he caught up and began tickling the boy, who laughed as he struggled to keep pretending a Sith had caught him.

"Get away from my brother!" The second boy shouted before joining them, jumping on his father's back with a laugh as he pretended to stab the man with a thin stick. "Ha, I've slain you! Now the galaxy is safe with me as their hero!"

"Hey, I helped too, I distracted him!" The first boy retorted.

"Fine you can be my consultant when they make me their ruler."

Lucifi watched the scene fade with confusion. Who were those people? They had seemed familiar but he never knew them...had he? Maybe he had been too young to remember. He blinked in confusion as he saw the same two, a few years older now it seemed, sparring each other with training lightsabers while another man watched over them and a few others training nearby.

"I'm going to beat you again Ben!" The boy called out as he blocked another attack and quickly tapped Ben over the heart. "See? Told you, you left yourself wide open!"

Ben scowled in response to his brother's words before turning to the man. "When can we start practicing with the Force again Master Skywalker?"

"Soon Ben, but a Jedi must learn to use both his lightsaber and Force abilities together. Just having one will not make you a master, you do want to be a Jedi master to train your own apprentice someday don't you?"

"Of course! And they'll be the best Jedi in the world with me." Ben responded confidently, almost arrogantly in Lucifi's opinion.

"Then keep training."

Ben's brother nodded. "Yeah, come on. I'll show you the trick, follow me."

"Alder, wait up!" A jolt of pain shot through his skull at the name and the memory grew fuzzy until it faded out completely.

When the pain subsided, Lucifi found himself in a dark room, the smell of smoke rich in the air. Alder was older now, nearly an adult by the looks of it. Screams being cut off, screams of children could be heard nearby and as Alder left the room he could see fire everywhere while blaster shots fired against the young padawans. The children fell to the enemy no matter how hard they fought and Alder, well; Lucifi was disgusted to see him flee without even trying to help. His last glimpse of the massacre was of a tall figure dressed in black, a cruel red lightsaber in his hand, killing the younglings as though he were killing a pesky fly.

"Master Skywalker?" Alder's voice drew him to a small white and blue droid. "R2, where is he? Where's my uncle?"

The droid gave a few whistles and beeps before moving off towards a ship.

"Wait, but..." An invisible force knocking him to the ground cut him off and Alder scrambled to his feet to follow the droid without another complaint as the dark figure closed in.

Lucifi knew that dark figure too, he had just seen him, but why was he in the man's memories? And why couldn't he just wake up? He didn't want to see this man's memories anymore, if these were all Kylo Ren's.

They just got darker too, well not actually, but the theme of the memories did. It all went from loss to war, which of course led to more loss. Lucifi couldn't understand it. Why was this Alder such a coward? He had almost let his friend die just to save his own skin! But what really got to him was this last memory.

Blood was soaking the snow, Alder's blood, and Lucifi could tell the man was dying. Staring around he could see Kylo Ren staring down at Alder with that freaky lightsaber of his while off to the side he could see the woman Alder had called Rey fighting against... was that his mentor? He gave a cry of alarm as she was forced off the edge of the cliff, barely holding on as Rey stood at the edge and looked down at her.

He couldn't do anything though, as his attention was pulled back to Alder, who was waiting for Kylo to bring his lightsaber down on his skull. It was as though he could feel that craven's pain rushing through him as he too crumpled to the ground; was it even possible to feel someone else's pain in a memory? He then thought back to some of the other memories and froze... all of them had Alder in it but lacked Kylo in some... that couldn't mean... but this memory... He was dead, right?

"No!" Lucifi screamed and jolted awake to see a scaly black lizard like creature staring at him with beady red eyes, a creature called Hssiss. "What...?"

If those were Alder's memories and one of those beasts was here... was he Alder? Hssiss were known to poison those they bit with a Dark side poison, had one bitten him? Lucifi kicked at it with his boot, not wanting that monstrous creature near him, he didn't want to be evil, not if that wasn't who he was! His head was pounding with those memories and several more the more he thought about it, he was Alder, his parents were part of the Resistance, his brother was evil and trying to kill them, and his friends...

"Rey?" He stared at the strange tunnels around him. "Finn? Poe?"

Were they here too? He didn't think they were, which meant they were at least safe, unlike him... he was now in the center of his enemy's home with Dark side poison coursing through him, likely to pull him under its affects again. Alder tried reaching his mind out to his friends, hoping he could find them and warn them what had happened to him.

"Lucifi, why are you making such a racket?" He shivered at Skurn's voice, why hadn't she just died?

He turned to face her, hoping she hadn't heard him calling for his friends. Perhaps he could still play along that nothing was out of the ordinary, which meant he stayed silent as he shrugged and stared at the ground. Alder cringed slightly as she moved closer and circled him before stepping back again with a scowl on her face.

"Don't tell me you got lost again?" She growled. "Pathetic."

A sharp retort came to his mind but he bit his tongue and shook his head, hating that he couldn't speak without giving himself away.

"Follow me, I'll take you to your room." Skurn sighed tiredly and walked back the way she'd come from.

Alder quickly followed her, feeling the poison beginning to cloud his mind again of whom he once was. He had wanted to grow stronger... but not if this was the cost, though his other self was right, he couldn't stay a coward. The pain in his head increased as he fought back until he staggered to his knees with a small sound of agony, he wished Rey was here; she could help him fight this off.

"Lucifi?" Skurn's voice seemed to echo in his head as he fought between who he was and what the poison was trying to warp him into once more. "Get back to your feet before I decide to leave you here for a less friendly person to find."

He glared at her from under his helmet but didn't answer as she knelt down to examine him, actual concern forming as he failed to fight off the poison any longer. Lucifi stayed on the ground as he caught his breath and froze as his master started taking off his helmet, should he stop her? Probably, but he couldn't bring himself to move as he felt cool air against his skin, it felt so nice after wearing that helmet for so long.

"Force!" His master cursed and jumped back a bit. "You?"

"Master?" Lucifi got to his feet as she stared from the helmet to him, realizing his mistake a second too late. "I..."

"Kylo killed you." She spat and reached for her dark saber.

He quickly backed away. "Master? I don't know what you mean! If this is for something I did, I'll do better next time I swear."

Zein paused and narrowed her eyes. "Why should I believe you?"

"Because I don't know what you're talking about!" Lucifi cried out, a faint pain in his head as she went into his mind.

The feeling stopped and she tossed his helmet back to him, a slightly confused expression on her face as she started walking away. "Something isn't right here... get back to your room, stay there until I get you for training."

"As you wish, Master Zein." He responded as he stared after her until she disappeared in the darkness.
