Bonus Chapter 3

"You spoke to my grandson didn't you?" Anakin questioned his old master as he felt Obi Wan's Force presence grow stronger. It was silent so he continued. "It's amazing he even took notice of your existence, considering he never paid us any mind before. You shouldn't have wasted your time though."

"Time is meaningless now." The older man reminded him. "Besides, with your son in hiding and not living up to his responsibilities to fix what he created while his sister fights a losing battle, we could use Ben's pull towards the light to stop this mess. Your bounty hunter certainly isn't helping either, so I find it necessary to at least put your grandson on the right track."

"Luke is not hiding or abandoning his responsibilities!" He turned to face the now elderly looking man. "He did what was smart. If he had stayed and fought he would have died... at least now he has other Jedi to help him. My son is done hiding, he is already on his way to help the Resistance."

"It should be you reaching out to Ben, he is your grandson, not mine." His master was now standing near him, observing his reactions.

Anakin turned away from him. "I can't. He only sees me as that monster Sidious created... Darth Vader."

A chill seemed to run through the Force at the name. As though even here, the Sith Lord still held power... for all any of them knew they did. Perhaps, like them, Sidious had managed to become like them. Evil and ready to help the enemy destroy the galaxy, but a Force ghost just like they were. Anakin was well aware that the Force needed balance between the dark and light so it would make sense it that was true... though he wasn't too keen on finding out.

"Dead, that man is." This time Yoda's voice spoke, as he appeared a few feet off.

"I am here, I exist, so he will never be dead." Anakin clenched his teeth. "I died when I killed Mace Windu, when I chose the Dark side. But even after my son brought me back to the light, Vader was still there. It's just a part of me that will always lurk in the shadows... I see now that I brought balance to the Force much too late."

"That doesn't mean you can't try." Obi Wan retorted. "He will listen to you if you get him to pay attention, you've heard his calls before."

"They were to Vader, I will not go back to being that monster!" Anakin's voice rose a bit and he felt a flicker of something monstrous in him, as if it were getting restless in its sleep. He calmed himself. "I will try the girl again. We can't interfere with the living too much, Yoda said it many times; this is their chance to make their own choice. We shouldn't guide them too much."

"Anakin." Obi Wan stopped him as he started to leave. "You would have made a good Jedi Master, though your arrogance still shows. Be careful with this. This woman might not take kindly to your presence much longer, it could drive her and Ben farther from the light."

"If he is anything like me, he will see the light in the end." Anakin responded. "He can bring balance back to the Force just as I once did with the help of my son, but this time, it won't end in his death. I won't see the Dark side destroy him completely."

"At a fork, the two are." Yoda agreed with Obi Wan as though Anakin hadn't spoken. "Darkness one path brings, but cloudy is the other. Danger, death, pain... So much of it, there is."

"That's very encouraging." Anakin shook his head with a slight scowl. "But I know what I'm doing."

With that he left the two behind him to pay the Force using bounty hunter a visit, determined to save his grandson through her.

"Meddling, your apprentice is." Yoda muttered just loud enough to be heard as Anakin got farther away.

"It's what he does best." Anakin could imagine Obi Wan's shrug. "It gets everyone into trouble but things go right in the end."

At least his master wasn't going to stop him. Anakin was grateful for that as they finally got out of hearing range.
