Chapter 101: The Turn Of The Tide

After saying goodbye, I made my way inside the cruiser, where Areria was waiting along with my troops and the Bad Batch. Areria gave me a smile as I approached her.

"So I heard what the Council considers on doing. Do you think I'll become a Jedi Knight soon?" Areria questioned.

"Of course. You deserve to become a Jedi Knight." I assured her.

Echo then approached me, giving me a smile along with a salute. "General Ca'ana."

"Corporal Echo." I greeted, returning his salute.

A grin appeared on Areria's face as she looked back and forth at us. "Oh this should be interesting..."

~Jinx's P.O.V.~

A meeting in the communications center took place and surprisingly, I was allowed to attend. Anakin, Master Windu, and I stood around the holotable along with holograms of Matter Mundi, Kina, and Master Secura. At that moment, a hologram of Cody appeared at once. "Master Windu, may I interrupt? General Kenobi has made contact with General Grievous, and we have begun our attack."

"Thank you, Commander. Anakin, deliver this report to the Chancellor. His reaction will give us a clue to his intentions." Master Windu mentioned. "Jinx, since Storm is on New Plympto, you go with Anakin."

Anakin and I gave him a bow. "Yes, Master."

With that, Anakin and I made our way to the Senate Building. As soon as we reached Palpatine's private office within his suite, we saw Palpatine sitting at his desk with a holomap. However as soon as we arrived, he turned the hologram off. I mentally shook my head. It must not be anything important.

"Chancellor." Anakin and I greeted.

"We've just received a report from Master Kenobi." I informed him.

"He's engaged General Grievous." Anakin added.

"We can only hope that Master Kenobi is up to the challenge." Palpatine mentioned.

Anakin's eyes fell to the ground. "Jinx and I should be there with him."

"It's upsetting to me to see that the Council doesn't seem to fully appreciate your talents." Palpatine stated. "Don't you wonder why they won't make you both Jedi Masters?"

Palpatine had a point. The Council doesn't realize our full potential, it infuriated me. I was a Ca'ana, much stronger than Dooku was or ever would be.

"I wish I knew. More and more I get the feeling that I'm being excluded from the Council." Anakin confessed.

"As do I. I know there are things they are not telling us." I pointed out.

"Especially things about the Force." Anakin added.

Palpatine gave us a sympathetic look. "They don't trust the both of you. They see your futures and the power that you'll have, it will be too strong for them to control."

Palpatine then he stood up from his chair before making his way towards us. "You must break through the fog of lies the Jedi have created around you. Let me help you to know the subtleties of the Force."

I furrowed my brows. "How do you know the ways of the Force?"

"My mentor taught me everything about the Force. Even the nature of the dark side." Palpatine confessed.

Both Anakin and I were baffled by his words. He knew the dark side? But how? Only a Sith knew the dark side, and then it hit me...he was the Sith Lord that we were looking for.

"You know the dark side?" Anakin questioned.

"Anakin, Jinx, if one is to understand the great mystery, one must study all its aspects, not just the dogmatic narrow view of the Jedi. If you wish to become a complete and wise leader, you must embrace a larger view of the Force." Palpatine explained. "Be careful of the Jedi. Only through me can you achieve a power greater than any Jedi. Learn to know the dark side of the Force, and you will be able to save your wife...from certain death."

My eyes widened. His wife?! Anakin did a double take at Palpatine. "What did you say?"

"Use my knowledge. I beg you." Palpatine pleaded.

Anakin and I ignited our lightsabers at once. I knew it, he's the Sith Lord. I pointed my lightsaber towards Palpatine. My blade was inches away from Palpatine's neck.

"So you're the Sith Lord." I stated.

"I know what's been troubling you both. Listen to me. Don't continue to be pawns of the Jedi Council. Ever since I've known you, you've both been searching for lives, greater than that of an ordinary Jedi. A life of significance, of conscious." Palpatine insisted. He then glanced over at me. "To live a life away from the shadows of your sister."

At his words, I lowered my lightsaber before turning it off. Palpatine wore a relieved look before looking at Anakin. "Are you going to kill me?"

"I would certainly like to." Anakin revealed.

"I know you would. I can feel your anger. It gives you focus, makes you stronger."

At his words, Anakin turned off his lightsaber before putting it away. "Jinx and I are going to turn you over to the Jedi Council."

"We are?" I blurted out.

Anakin gave me a look, causing me to nod. "...Uh, I mean, right, we are."

"Of course. You should. But you're both not sure of their intentions, are you?" Palpatine inquired.

"Don't you worry, we will quickly discover the truth of all this." I retorted.

"You both have great wisdom. Know the power of the dark side. Power to save Padmé." Palpatine commented before looking over at me. "The power to show your family, your friends, and the entire galaxy that you are more than just Storm's sister."

My eyes lit up at his words. I certainly was tired of being known as Storm's sister. For the Force's sake, I was the oldest Ca'ana, which obviously meant I could become more powerful than Storm ever could. If only the others could see that...

~Storm's P.O.V.~

Once we arrived on New Plympto, we landed just outside a village in the forest filled tall hiakk trees with silver trunks, plants of different colors, and animals such as Foragers covered in feathers and rikknit surrounded by their own webs. Master Dass Jennir approached us along with the Nosaurian rebels. Master Jennir had long white hair, fair skin, and green eyes. Areria and I bowed. "Master Jennir."

"Ah Storm, Padawan Skikea, so glad you arrived. We're in great need of reinforcements." Master Jennir informed us.

At that moment, a Nosaurian rebel with horns, red eyes, and yellowish orange skin made his way towards us. The Nosaurian let out a few barks along with a warble. Tech immediately put on his goggles as he recorded the Nosaurian's words on his datapad.

"He's General Huli Coran." Master Jennir said, translating for us.

"And he's glad we've arrived. We're just in time for the next wave of droids and Nosaurians that have aligned themselves with the Separatists." Tech added.

Master Jennir was taken back by Tech's words. "You speak their language? That's impossible! It took me months to learn."

"Well, it took me only thirty seconds." Tech retorted.

"Tech, ask General Coran if his troops are ready." I urged, returning to the matter at hand.

In an instant, Tech began translating my words to General Coran. Coran responded, letting out a few high pitch barks followed by a low warble. Tech immediately translated for us. "He said they're ready. He's wondering what your plan is, General Ca'ana."

"Master Jennir, where are the Separatist army right now?"

Master Jennir took out a imagecaster, turning it on to reveal a holomap of the planet. "The army's over here, just twelve klicks away from us."

"Which means we have some time. Now here's the plan." I began.

~Jinx's P.O.V.~

Anakin and I rushed to the Jedi Temple, finding Master Windu in the hangar along with Master Tiin, Master Fisto, and Master Kolar. Palpatine's words were still echoing in my mind. I glanced over at Anakin. "Are you sure this is a good idea?"

"Master Windu, we must talk to you." Anakin mentioned.

"Skywalker, Ca'ana, we just received word that Obi-Wan has destroyed General Grievous. We're on our way to make sure the Chancellor returns emergency power back to the Senate." Master Windu informed us.

"That won't do anything. He won't give up his power." I commented.

"We've just learned a terrible truth. I think Chancellor Palapatine is a Sith Lord." Anakin revealed.

Master Windu furrowed his brows. "A Sith Lord?"

Anakin nodded. "Yes. The one we've been looking for."

"How do you know this?" Master Windu inquired.

"He knows the ways of the Force." I explained.

"He's been trained to use the dark side." Anakin added.

"Are you sure?" Master Windu questioned.

"Absolutely." Anakin confirmed.

Master Windu wore a grim look. "Then our worst fears have been realized. We must move quickly if the Jedi Order is to survive."

"Master, the Chancellor is very powerful." Anakin warned.

"Yeah, you'll need Anakin's and my help if you're going to arrest him." I advised.

"For your own good, you two will stay out of this affair." Master Windu ordered.

My stomach dropped at his words. What? We tell him that Palpatine's a Sith Lord and now he wants to keep us out of the affair?! If it wasn't for Anakin and me, they wouldn't have even known about Palpatine's kriffing secret.

"I sense a great deal of confusion in you both. There is much fear that clouds your judgement, young Skywalker." Master Windu protested. He then turned to look at me. "And there is much anger in you, young Ca'ana."

I clenched my fists, narrowing my eyes at Master Windu. However, Anakin placed a hand on my shoulder. I glanced over at Anakin to see him giving me a look, one that said stop while you're ahead. I let out a sigh, releasing my anger.

"We must go, Master." Anakin insisted.

"No. If what you've told me is true, you will have gained my trust. But for now, remain here. Wait in the council chambers until we have returned." Master Windu demanded.

I was baffled by his words. We didn't have his trust before? Reluctantly, we bowed our heads. "Yes Master..."

We then watched Master Windu and the other Masters climb inside a shuttle before taking off. We then made our way to the Council chambers, where we both sat in silence. Palpatine's words echoed louder and louder in my head. I snapped out of my thoughts, when Anakin shook my arm. "We have to go to the Chancellor's office."

I nodded. "You're right."

We quickly rushed into the hangar, hopping into some airspeeders before taking off, making our way to the Senate building. As soon as we reached Palpatine's private office, we saw Palpatine lying down against the broken window with Master Windu standing in front of him with his purple lightsaber pointed just centimeters away from his face.

"You are under arrest, my lord." Master Windu said.

As soon as we approached them, Master Windu placed a hand up towards us in an attempt to stop us. Palpatine turned his head towards us, giving us a pleading look. "Anakin, Jinx, I told you it would come to this. I was right. The Jedi are taking over."

"The oppression of the Sith will never return. You have lost." Master Windu informed him.

Palpatine shook his head. "No, no, no. You will die!"

From Palpatine's fingertips, lightning emerged and made their way towards Master Windu. Master Windu struggled as he used his lightsaber, deflecting the lightning. Palpatine cried out. "He's a traitor!"

"He's the traitor!" Master Windu shot back.

Master Windu used all his strength, pushing forth. The lightning went back towards Palpatine, making him weak.

"I have the power to save the one you love, Anakin. And I have the power to give you what you never had, Jinx. You must choose." Palpatine insisted.

"Don't listen to him." Master Windu advised.

"Don't let him kill me!" Palpatine pleaded.

We watched as the lightning deformed his face. For once, I felt conflicted, unsure of what I should do. Palpatine laid his head back, growing weaker. "I can't hold it any longer. I...I can't. I-I'm weak...I'm too weak. Anakin, Jinx. Help me, help me!"

In a matter of seconds, Palpatine gave up, the lightning vanishing at once. Palpatine let out a groan of agony. "Please...I'm too weak. Don't kill me..."

"I am going to end this once and for all." Master Windu mentioned.

"You can't...He must stand trial." I protested.

"He has control of the Senate and the courts. He's too dangerous to be left alive." Master Windu argued.

"Jinx's right. It's not the Jedi way." Anakin pointed out.

Despite our words, Master Windu raised his lightsaber in the air. Palpatine's yellow eyes widened. "Please don't."

"We need him!" Anakin shouted.

"Please don't!" Palpatine cried out.

"No!" I yelled out.

Anakin quickly ignited his lightsaber, cutting off Master Windu's arm that held the lightsaber. Master Windu let out a scream of pain. He looked over at me for help, but I just stared at him with a vacant look. Master Windu didn't trust me...and besides perhaps Palpatine was right, Master Windu's the real traitor. A grin appeared on Palpatine's face before he extended out a hand, sending lightning in Master Windu's direction. "Power! Unlimited power!"

We watched as the lightning engulfed Master Windu, causing him to scream louder. It wasn't long until Master Windu fell out the window. I was taken back. My mind was trying to process everything that had just happened. Palpatine lowered his hand, letting out a sigh of relief. Anakin kept his gaze out towards the window. "What have I done?"

Palpatine made his way towards us. "You are fulfilling your destiny. Become my apprentices. Learn to use the dark side of the Force."

"I will do whatever you ask." Anakin informed him.

Palpatine nodded. "Good."

"Just help me save Padmé's life. I can't live without her." Anakin pleaded.

"To cheat death is a power only one has achieved, but if we work together...I know we can discover the secret." Palpatine explained.

"I pledge myself to your teachings." Anakin stated.

"Good. Good." Palpatine said. He then turned towards me, awaiting for my response.

"You can tell me all the secrets my family's been hiding and give me more power, right?" I inquired.

"I will do that and more for you, Jinx." Palpatine confirmed.

"Then I too pledge myself to your teachings." I replied, caving in.

Both Anakin and I knelt before Palpatine. A smile appeared on Palpatine's face. "Good. The Force is strong with the both of you. Powerful Siths, you will become. Far more powerful than Naexle or Tyranus. Henceforth, you shall be known as Darth Vader."

Anakin bowed his head. "Thank you, Master."

"And you Jinx, shall be known as Darth Ucra. Rise." Palpatine commanded.

At his words, we both rose from the ground. Palpatine placed his hood over his head, hiding his face. "Because the Council did not trust you, my young apprentices, I believe you two may be the only Jedi with no knowledge of this plot. When the Jedi learn what has transpired here, they will kill us along with all the senators."

Anakin nodded. "I agree. The Council's next move will be against the Senate."

"Every single Jedi, including your friend Obi-Wan Kenobi, is now an enemy of the Republic." Palpatine informed us.

Anakin bowed his dead. "I understand, Master."

I hesitated. "And what of my sisters?"

"Your sisters will be of great value. With all three of the Ca'ana sisters on my side along with Vader, this new Empire will be unstoppable. And besides, they are just like you. Storm and Maya just doesn't realize that the Jedi Council is holding them back. But we must move quickly the Jedi are relentless." Palpatine mentioned. "If they are not all destroyed, it will civil war without end. Darth Vader, I want you to go to the Jedi Temple. We will catch them off balance. Do what must be done, Lord Vader."

I raised an eyebrow. "And what about me?"

"Lady Ucra, bring Maya to me alive if you can. Go to Acherin, and find Maya. We'll deal with Storm later. But know this, if Storm joins us, I'll make sure you never have to life in her shadow ever again." Palpatine assured me.

"And if she doesn't?" I inquired.

"Then you shall kill her. Both of you, do not hesitate. Show no mercy. Only then will you both be strong enough with the dark side to accomplish your desires." Palpatine ordered.

"What about the other Jedi spread across the galaxy?" Anakin asked.

"Their betrayal will be dealt with. Lady Ucra, you may leave. Remember Maya is on the planet Acherin." Palpatine reminded me.

I bowed at once. "Yes Master."
