6) Four!

Sorry this one is so short, I had many different directions I could go with this chapter but decide it's best to go with this one.

I woke up to someone humming, fluttering my eyes to see Aiden was still driving the boat. I groggily rolled over to my other side and snuggled closer to whatever laid on me.

“Aiden…do you think we’ll ever see mom and dad soon?”

I kept quiet, hearing nothing what the water and the boat’s engine pushing us faster. Aiden suddenly speaking up then, sounding sad and faint “I don’t Alex.”

“Do you think we’ll be safe in Hawaii?”

“…I hope so.”

I stared out behind us, watching the open water move as we left it behind, pearl blue and fragile looking for once. I gripped the cross that dangled from my neck, no longer seeing the big apple. I was homeless just like them. There was no going back and no buts about it, if I ever walked into the apartment it’d be empty and smell weird. I wander how excited Jake would be that I left his beautiful city or suddenly disappeared. I sighed, closing my eyes and bit my lip.

All I had now was hope like them.

“I spy land!” Alex chimed, laughing.

“Hush, you’re going to wake her up.”

“Already did.” I yawned, rolling back over to face them while rubbing my eye. Aiden’s broad shoulder’s dropped as he shot his brother a blunt look. I sat up on my elbow and saw what was covering me what a hoodie, looking it over.

He rubbed the back of his head awkwardly now. “Yeah…you were shivering while sleeping so I covered you up.”

I smiled, looking down. “Thanks.”

“Aiden, do you got a crush on Valerie?”

The question buzzed in my head as Aiden instantly grew a pissed off look and death glared at his brother, “No, I don’t Alex. It’s called being nice! Shut up!” He shouted, making my giggle behind my hand. Alex shrugged, looking down at his feet with a smile. “It sounds like it.”

“Alex!”

We finally crept up on shore when the sun was setting, lying in the warm sand. All of us peeking through tall grass, Aiden groaned and narrowed his eyes. “They were expecting us.” He huffed, following his aggravated stare. Seeing a few guys in all black was heading towards a rundown looking beach house. I sighed, drumming my nails along the sand.

Aiden groaned, looking around then his eyes shifted to me. “I know where we can go.”

~♠~

The moon hovered over us, watching our every move. Clearly Aiden knew where we were driving since he slithered the boat through the water, seeing jagged rocks appear when close enough in the water. Alex was shifting through his bag as I sat on the bench and huffed, leaning over my hands.

“Where are we exactly?” I grumbled, flicking my cold look on Aiden. He held the wheel with one hand as he turned half away around and stared at the full moon, he started to mumble something under his breath then he made the loser “L” shape with his hand; squinting.

“An old friend of mine’s.” He dropped his hand and turned back to me, leaning somewhat against the wheel.

I raised a blunt brow. “You’re willing to put your friends in dangerous?”

Aiden suddenly smirked. “More like we play tag.” He chuckled, standing up and straight and pointed at the only land in sight. It appeared as an jungle infestation skin over steep mountains as they were planted on a piece of island, not seeing a single strip of beach anywhere. I squinted, looking harder but nothing.

“Where are we going to port at?” I turned back to him.

He smirked bigger, “You’ll see.” Steering the boat to go toward the left side. “Shark bait is very anal about his privacy and creativity.” He shrugged over his shoulder, pointing to the island. Looking, we were heading towards a waterfall.

Uh?” I turned back to Aiden who was smirking, still feeling us move forward. “Aren’t we going to get wet?” I yelled over the roaring waters, seeing the shadow swallow as I only felt tiny droplets hit me. Something was blocking the water at the top as it flowed like an open curtain, flowing on each side of us. On the other side was more of a lazy river feeling, swerving left then right. Bushes and trees with vines hung over us, smiling with awe.

“This is beautiful.” I whispered, smiling back at him. Aiden shrugged, smirking.

“Wait? Shark bait?” Alex spoke up, twisting around to us.

Aiden nodded, leaning back against the wheel as kept straight for a while. “Yeah, Shark bait. He doesn’t like the name his mother gave him.”

“What is it?” I rose a brow.

“Kade.”

“It’s not that bad.” I murmured, staring back at the wild life.

“He says its blunt for him, wait, you’ll agree soon enough.”

I groaned, tracing the easy flowing river to our destination. Now noticing lit Tiki lanterns on each side of us as if some kind of landing strip or red carpet entrance, shifting a little uneasy when I heard a rustle. Then a whimper, following with multiple others. In the distance, a loud yelp echoed over the trees. I snapped back to Aiden who only seemed a little distracted by it, resuming to keep us straight. “Coyotes.”

“Out here?”

“Yes.” He huffed. “That surprised me too.”

A loud sharp now closer made me flinch, in seconds, Alex was hugging my waist. Growling down at him, “Do you mind?” He groaned, shaking his head and burying his head into my side, growling deeper. My shoulders dropped once I huffed, ignoring Aiden’s little laugh from it as we slowed to a stop. Standing up wasn’t so easy, I’ve been sitting for hours now he wanted us to get up like nothing happened. Stumbling  and almost fell over till a hand grabbed my wrist, seeing it was ironically Aiden with a stern look.

“I do need you still.” He rose a smartass brow, pulling me up.

I jerked my hand free and cursed under my breath, stepping onto land and stretched. Seeing a small boat house off to the left then a path to the right into darkness, a little further, laid a huge house.  We must have been in the back since there was a volleyball net up and tiki lamps everywhere in the yard, letting Aiden take the lead and walk under the huge upstairs porch. A bright light flashed us, all of us growling and I clamping my burning eyes shut. Someone grabbed my hand, getting pulled. By the difference in the humidity and coolness, we must have been in the house. Fluttering my eyes, seeing they were girls and guys in bikinis everywhere. Aiden groaned, watching group of girls were versing a guys in a game of pool. Alex pressed against my side, following his horrid stare to a guy pushing a girl up against the wall and squeezing her covered breast while sucking tongue. I growled, covering his eyes. Someone tapped my shoulder, seeing gladly it was Aiden and not some drunk dude. A girl somewhere busting up laughing, being obnoxious. Oh god, she was getting annoying in record timing. I snarled, biting my tongue. Forcing to move through the crowd, my hand over Alex’s eyes as he held onto me by my wrist. Aiden squirming through the crowd as I growled at them, seeing some were vampire that growled or hissed back. Hissing at a bitch near the door, hearing her call me something. I was about to turn around and give her a piece of my mind but Aiden pulled me up stairs.

“No fighting these people. They’re drunk.” He scowled.

“I’ll give them a better reason next time.” I growled, coming upstairs to a small version of a party.

It was a open concept house, the high ceilings to two big columns. Being impressed when the columns were fish tanks, one of them was empty as the other had varied fish in it. The living room had no one in but I heard laughter, Aiden walking around of the column and yelled out Shark bait! I groaned, walking after him and pulled my hand away from Alex’s face.

“Is it okay now, Val?” He glanced up at me as we walked.

“Yes, there’s nothing distu-.” I stopped when we rounded it, spotting two shirtless girls sitting at the island. Alex was about to look but I slapped my hand over his eyes.

“Ow! That hurt!” He tried to pry it off but I made the comment Devil will make you blind if you see this…He didn’t try to peek. There was a shirtless guy shaking a metal container and smirked as Aiden came around and hugged him, slapping the metal cup down and did a “bro hug”. I rolled my eyes, meeting them with the two girls who only wear boxers; guessing it was the guys.

“I see you’re having a another party.”Aiden laughed, slipping onto the marble island and leaned over on his knees. The guy chuckled, flashing his teeth before pouring whatever into two glasses and offered the nude girls the drink. They both giggled and spoke in sync Thank you big boy. It made the guy grin, I shook my head and ran my tongue over my teeth, feeling my fangs were starting to come out. God, I haven’t had blood in a few days now. It felt like I was starting to starve.

“Valerie.”

I raised my brow in their direction, seeing everyone now looked at me. Biting my tongue, I slowly walked over with Alex blinded. “Yes?”

Aiden leaned back on his hands and nodded toward the guy, “This is Shark bait.”

Kade looked at me then, I narrowed my eyes at him. Seeing he did the same, something I’ve never felt sunk into my chest. He felt strong, stronger than me. It wasn't intimidation like what Jake sent under my skin, it was something I couldn’t even explain. I inhaled a breath in, taking him in well. He was, well-built, six foot four, silk ocean blue hair that curled at its edges that laid against his perfect jawline. He stood with a calm confident posture, planting his hands firmly on the island. Another surge of weirdness came over me, turning my head a little to the side. My wolf didn’t growl nor even want to bare her teeth, she too was quiet and studying his movements.

 He was something far different.

His stone grey eyes tore away from me to Aiden, smiling frail. “You actually found something quite valuable.” He turned to the girls and nodded to them. They all made pouty face before they got up and walked past me, each shooting a dirty look before heading down stairs. Peeling my hand off of Alex’s eyes and walked closer to the island as Kade was in the process of getting him a bottle of wine. “So you want me to help to take you to Hawaii?” He turned back to Aiden who cleared his throat.

“You’d be the quickest way.”

I flicked my eyes on Kade who twitched a smirk when we met eye contact, his eyes flicking back on Aiden. “By the way you’re thinking, I can’t deny it would but…I just can’t leave my own party to go galloping on some adventure.” He sighed, popping the bottle open. Alex flinching before he slipped into the chair and huffed; getting our attention when he yawned. “Besides, the little guy is tired.”

“Mandi can carry him.” Aiden shrugged.

I groaned, getting the both of them to look at me. “I’m not some babysitter.”

“And the wolf shows its teeth.” Kade smirked, I stuck my tongue out with disgust and shot an irritated look back at Aiden who had a serious look.

“Once you are in Hawaii, I’m done with you two. I don’t want any more buildings falling on me and men chasing after me.” I growled, Kade laughed as he took his bottle and walked off down the hallway. Aide growled, slipping off of the counter and turned to me. He slapped his hands on the counter.

“Good. Becuase I can’t stand my brother’s shitty decisions.” Aiden glared.

“Guys.” Alex groaned.

My brows tugged down, leaned against the marble. I growled deeper, feeling my fangs flick out. “I can’t wait to drag you out of here.”

Aiden’s fangs shot out, snarling. “Then do it already!”

I started to climb up on the island, seeing something swing down. Creating sparks , flinching back. Seeing it was an aged looking staff, it’s brand new looking curved blade stopping me from going at Aiden. I following the grey metal pipe to seeing Kade who stood now fully clothed and had a messenger bag, he blinked and shook his head. “Royal vampires.” He flicked his eyes on Aiden then me. “And Mixbloods…this is why I stay with humans, there more mellow with everything.” He sighed, pulling his “scythe” up and rested it on his shoulder. “We going or not?”

I pulled my lip. Great. “You’re going?”

He chuckled, shrugging. “The party below will die in an hour then everyone will leave, I’ll just lock the door and we can head down to the docks.” He turned to Aiden. “Got it?”

Aiden gulped, nodding.

“Four!” Alex laughed, slipping off of the chair.

I rolled my eyes. “Alright, let’s just go.”
