3) It's getting worse

“I wish my parents could meet my boyfriend, oh wait! I don’t have either!” I slurred, pacing in the forest. Rex sat on the rock and took a swig of his beer. “All he does is treat me like a dog and fuck me like a bitch, shit, I’m his fucking bitch. Literally!” I threw my hands up and turned back to him. He smirked, shaking his head and continued to watch me stumble around.

“How’s your side?” He nodded toward my big bandage, taking another swig.

“Does it matter?” I smiled, stumbling again but caught myself once more.

He snorted. “Come sit before you side and puncture something else.”

“Rex, you’re too cute.” I purred, giggling and coming over.

“Oh god.” He smirked, setting his beer down. I tripped over some, yipping and falling forward. I grunted when we collided, landing on the ground. I giggled into his hoodie as he just held me, whining when I realized I dropped my beer.

“Awh, shit. My beer.” I groaned, burying my face into the cloth.

“Someone likes to cuddle.” He chuckled, the alcohol was overcoming me, slowly peeking up through my hair at him. “I like to do more than cuddle.” I purred.

“You what?!” Aiden shouted, pacing in front of me. I flinched and gulped, staring at my feet. I hesitated, listening to him growling and placing more weight on the balls of his ankles as he walked. “Valerie, I can’t believe you. First, you almost scare off Summer’s parents by literally ripping Robby’s shoulder open. And now this. I ought to castrate that fucking mutt!” He yelled out with rage.

“It wasn’t his fault.” I choked up, glancing up at him.

“Then who’s? Yours?” He stopped and crossed his arms.

The look he gave was surely the one he gave to all of his victims before he did something grave; it scared me. I swallowed, stiffly nodding. “I-I-I didn’t get to eat, Aiden. Right when I was about to, you called us out of the forest. The damn buck stabbed me and it wasn’t healing right.”

Again?” H dropped his hands to the side, shooting me a confused look. He huffed, running his hand through his hair and turned away from me. “I can’t keep covering your ass if you’re not healing right, Valerie.”

“It’s my—.” I stopped when he turned halfway to me, having a blunt look now. “You know.” I whispered, he sighed and came over.

“Let me see.” He murmured. I gulped, not moving a muscle. He flicked dark his eyes on me, yelping when he grabbed my hair and pulled my headd down. I bit my lip, feeling him pull my shirt up. “Jesus Christ.” He sighed heavy, feeling pain stab into my back. It felt like it was happening all over again; seeing the bones all around me. Seeing his face gawking at me through those bars. A blood curdling escaped me; grabbing out onto his pant leg and trembled violently.

“Don’t fucking touch it!” I yelled, clamping my eyes shut.

“Valerie, calm down!” He groaned, “I didn’t even touch it. I was about it but I was an inch away.” He sighed, pulling my shirt down. “We need to go to Ka-.”

“No!” I yelled, feeling the hot tears down my cheeks. He sighed, squatting down in front of me and touching my legs.

“Valerie, it’s getting worse.” He shook his head, “He knows more than me, clearly, feeding on animals instead of humans aren’t going to slow it down more. We need answers…you need answers.” He blinked, I broke down and shook my head. I hugged my legs and rocking, feeling his hands on my shoulder blades.

My voice cracked. “I don’t ever want to see his face again…he ruined my life.”
