"No, Cara. I will not wear that." I told her while eyeing the revealing short lace dress.

"Come on, Sel. It's not that revealing." She insists and I groaned in response.

As you can see, we were dress shopping for the goddamn activity. I decided I will join because of my family's financial problems. Cara was surprised when I told her that I'm joining. She doesn't need to know the reason because it's a family matter. Of course, she freaking screamed in the cafeteria when I told her about it.

"How about this one ?" She said and showed me a more revealing red dress that looked like that the tailor had a shortage of money to buy more cloth to make it. I scrunched my nose up on it's appearance.

"You know, it's hard to pick clothes for you but i'm not going to give up." She said and returned the dress to it's rack. I looked around and was startled when someone draped his arm around me.

"What the actual fuck Blake ?" I said and removed his arm.

"What ?" He said amusedly. I shook my head and walked away from him.

"So you're joining the activity. Just to let you know that I'm here if you don't get picked." He said and winked.

"I'm getting picked, I swear." I said and he gave me a judging look.

"Yeah, right. As if." He said and kissed my cheek before whispering. "I got you, baby. Don't worry." I immediately scrunched my nose up.

I know that I have a low chance to get picked because of my appearance but it's a random selection so I have a chance still. Oh, geez ! I hope I have a lot of luck on my side. Okay, I'm desperate. I just need this to help my family. My parents don't know about the whole me joining the activity yet. They know that I despise the activity so much. So they'll surely be shocked when I tell them later.

"There you are ! I was looking everywhere for you and I found the one." She said and hold out a white tube dress that has flowers embroidered on it and ended up above knees for sure.

"I know you like it. Go and try it out." She said and I nodded before she dragged me to the dressing room. When I looked at myself in the mirror, I sighed. For once I looked beautiful.

"Come on, Sel. Let me see." She called and I got out.

"How do I look ?" I asked and she gave me a big smile.

"You look gorgeous." She said and I went back to the dressing room to change in my clothes and afterwards keep the white cocktail dress in my arms.

"Let's pay for the thing and let's hit Wendy's. I'm hungry and craving for burger." She said and I nodded.

Today is one of the days where we have a family dinner. Louis and his pregnant girlfriend are here and so is Gigi. So, you can say that we are a complete family right now. I'm thinking about how will I inform them that I decided to join the activity and for them to not worry because it's all on me now.

"This is so delicious, Mom." Gigi said and Mom smiled. I looked at them and they were happy. I cleared my throat that got their attention.

"Uhhmmm....I just want to tell you all something." I said and they all had their attention on me. Okay, so this is intense. I breathed out heavily and looked at my plate.

"Idecidedtojointheactivity." I mumbled. They looked at me.

"Sel, can you please slow down ?" Dad said. I nodded and sighed.

"I decided to join the activity because like you said it's a one time opportunity and I can't really get away with it." I said and they all break out into smiles.

"Good to hear that, love." My mom gestured and I smiled.

"Wait, do you even know the rules, Sel ?" Gigi asked. I put the food in my mouth first and looked at her.

"About that, can you educate me ? I mean, the school will end tomorrow because of the activity so can you ?" I asked and she nodded.

"Of course. I would love to." She said and I smiled. The fact that I was just joining because of our financial problems was eating me alive.  All I have to do is to know what I need to know and if I ever got picked, prove to that prince that I want to be an heiress even though I don't want to.

"The first thing you need to know for now is there's a first round. The first round is easy. You will get asked about some things and you have to answer them, just like a pageant." Gigi said. We were in my bedroom talking about the activity that will start tomorrow. I just got home from school and i'm nervous. There's a lot of women out there that are gorgeous than me. I'm just plain old me.

"Okay. What else ?" I asked and she looked at me.

"They will pick 50 girls and the actual picking ceremony will begin. Don't be nervous. All you need to do is to be you because I know the Prince will be a fool if he didn't fall in love with you." She said and I hugged her.

"Thanks, Gi." I said and she nodded. Someone cleared their throat. We both pulled away and looked at Louis.

"Can I join ?" He said and pulled the both of us in a tight hug that got us giggling.

"If that bastard hurt you I'll hurt him myself, I don't care if he's a Prince but if he hurt you i'll beat him. same goes if any guy try to hurt you Gigi." He said and kissed our cheeks.

"The key is to be yourself I think because the past heiress was like that." Gigi said and I nodded.

"Let's pack. You need beautiful dresses because I have a feeling you'll get picked and you'll need them." Gigi said and Louis left us to ourselves. Gigi packed me a lot of dresses and she said she'll get back because she's getting me something.

"Look, I know you don't want this, but you need this." She said and I widen my eyes.

"Gigi, no !" I said and she laughed. She was holding a dark blue lace panty and bra.

I chased her around the room but she was taller than me and raised the underwear out of my reach.

"Come on, Sel. I swear you'll need this." She said and winked at me. I sighed and let her slip the underwear in my bag. She looked at me and walked towards me.

"It'll be alright, Sel. The prince will like it if you get picked." She said and ruffled my hair.

"I'm not having sex with him." I said and she smirked.

"I bet you won't but he will." She said. I playfully smacked her arms.

"Nobody knows how he looks like Gigi. What if he's ugly." I exclaimed.

"Oh, shut it. I told you King Jared is handsome so it isn't doubtful that his son will be handsome too." She said and I shook my head.

"You will do well, Sel. All of us will pray for your win." She said and kissed my forehead. We got down for supper and after that I went to my bedroom to think. My thoughts were jumbled when Mom barged into my room.

"Hey, Mom." I said and she sat at the edge of my bed. She motioned for me to come to her.

"Whatever happened to me won't happen to you my baby." She said. I widen my eyes. My mom talked to me. She smiled when I looked at her.

"I love you, Mom." I said and she kissed my forehead.

"I love you too, baby." She said and I kissed her cheeks before she went out with a smile on her face. My mom talked to me. I know I shouldn't make a big deal about it but because of what happened to her she chose to be mute for her sake. I sighed and laid down on my bed. Tomorrow is the day where my life will take a turn. I fell in a deep slumber dreaming about a guy with green eyes and curly hair.
