Y/n and Stefan's favorite song to listen to together was A Drop In The Ocean by Ron Pope, they listened to it so much they memorized every lyric. Y/n and Stefan broke up a few days ago due to him not wanting her to be dragged into the vampire drama and getting her hurt not realizing he was hurting her more than anything by ending things.

"Y/n!" Caroline ran through the halls, y/n was walking with her band and talking, "y/nnnn!"

"Caroline. What's up?" She questioned.

"Soooo the band we had for the dance bailed and can't make itttt." Caroline smiled.

"You need a band?" Y/n questioned.

"Yes. Please. Just this once." Caroline begged.

"Okay." The whole band agreed.

"Here's a list of songs." Caroline handed it to her and walked away.

*later*

Y/n and her band were rehearsing for the dance.

"Ooh this is such a good song but it's so sad!" Y/n band mate looked at her.

"What is it?" Y/n questioned.

"A drop In the Ocean by Ron Pope." She spoke.

"Oh- Uh- We'll rehearse that one last." Y/n sighed.

"This is our last song." Her friend chuckled.

"Oh okay." Y/n nodded.

The band was starting the melody and y/n was now singing it.

They finished the song and y/n walked away quickly.

"Y/n? You okay?" Her band followed.

"Yeah I just need a drink." She opened her cabinet.

"Damn." Her friends watched her chug the bottle of vodka, "Isn't that your moms?"

"She won't notice. She never does." Y/n spoke.

*at the dance*

Y/n showed up in her red and black dress

The dress with her high heels.

Everyone was showing up and y/n was with the band and they placed the paper on the stage so people can request songs, they added a few other songs they knew.

"Hello mystic falls high! Let's get this dance started! Please give a hand for our Very Own Battle of the bands Winners 4 years in a row! Cherry Red!" Caroline smiled at y/n.

They started playing the melody to Candy Rain by Soul For Real.

Stefan and Damon walked In and saw y/n on stage.

"Oooh looks like lover girl is playing music tonight. You think I'd be able to make a request?" Damon chuckled.

"My love, do you ever dream of, Candy-coated rain drop? Your the same my Candy rain." The band except y/n sang.

" have you ever loved someone, so much you thought you'd die? Giving so much of yourself it seems the only way tell me what you want and I- and I will give it to youuuu cause you are my love." Y/n sang with a smile.

The band continued playing song when Damon walked up to the stage and got y/n attention.

"I was wondering if I could make a request." He smiled.

"Yeah sure what song?" She handed him the list.

He pointed at one and he smirked, she looked and broke into a laugh.

"Seriously Damon?" She laughed.

"Yep. 100%." He smiled.

"Okay fine but just this once." She whispered to the band and they started laughing.

They started playing the song and the crowd started smiling and getting excited.

"All the single ladies!" She started singing and dancing to it, "now put your hands! Up in the club just broke up! Doing my own little thing! You decided to dip and now you wanna trip cause another brother noticed me! I'm up on him , he up on me."

"Seriously?" Stefan glared at Damon.

"Yep. And look even the girls are dancing." Damon pointed at Elena Bonnie and Caroline all dancing.

*later*

"Let's slowww it down." Y/n smiled, she decided she wanted to sing the song and wanted to see how some would react.

They started playing the melody to it and y/n started singing.

"A drop in the ocean, a change in the weather. I was playing that you and me might, End up together. It's like wishing for rain as I stand in the desert and I'm holding you closer than most. 'Cause you are my heaven." She sang.

Stefan stared at y/n as she sang the song and he started walking over to the stage and stood in front of it.

"Heaven doesn't seem far away!" She sang, "it's just a drop in the ocean! A change in the weather, I was playing that you are me might, end up together. It's like wishing for rain as I stand in the desert! But I'm holding you closet than most."

Stefan locked eyes with her and she didn't break eye contact.

"Cause you are my heaven...ohhh! Your are myyyy...Heaven." She finished the song and looked away from Stefan.

The band decided to take a break, y/n was sitting on the stage when Damon walked up to her.

"Stefan told me about the break up." Damon sat next to her.

"He did? What did he say?" She questioned.

"He said that he just wanted to protect you." Damon nodded.

"I don't need him to protect me Damon." Y/n sighed.

"Before he did it he told me that he didn't want you to get hurt so he had to find a way to get you away." Damon spoke, "apparently he's been wanting to for a month now. He kept talking to me about it like everyday but never did it."

"What?" She looked at Damon.

"Yeah." Damon nodded, "y/n I'm sorry. I'm here if you need anything. I mean it."

"Thank you Damon. I'll see you later." She stood up and ran outside crying, Stefan chased after her.

"Y/n! Wait!" He yelled.

"Leave me alone!" She cried.

"I'm not leaving you y/n!" He spoke.

"But you already did." She turned back to him, "why didn't you tell me you went to Damon about us? Why?! Why!?"

"I don't know!" He yelled.

"If I had known." She paused, "if I had known that you had done that, that- that you cared that much about me, and about us...If I'd known that I would've fought for you!"

"What do you mean?" He questioned "what do you me-"

"For us! I would've fought for us! I mean at prom and at the funeral. I mean I- I would've been there for you! Through everything!" She cried.

"I thought you knew! I thought you knew! The moment we kissed at the party! I thought you knew!" He spoke.

"Why?! Why!? Why did you throw it all away!? Why!?" She sobbed.

He stood there with tears in his eyes not sure of what to say.

"I thought...I thought...that we loved eachother." She spoke.

"We did." He spoke.

She just stared at him realizing everything between them was official gone.

"I guess not enough." She had almost stopped crying.

He watched as she turned around and walked away.

She was sobbing as she walked through the dance trying to find one of her friends.

"Y/n?" Jeremy spoke seeing her crying, "hey? What's wrong? Hey look at me. What happened?"

"I ruined everything." She sobbed and he pulled her into a hugs.

Elena walked over with the girls and they brought her to the car and as they were walking out. Y/n saw Damon, his eyes widened as he saw her sobbing.

Y/n was sitting in her room with Elena and the girls, Jeremy walked in with snacks and drinks.

"I'm not good at the whole breakup thing but I figured we need a movie night and a bunch of snacks." He smiled.

"Thank you jer." She slightly smiled.

"We're gonna go make cocoa, do you want some?" Caroline questioned.

"Please." She nodded.

They all went downstairs leaving y/n alone.

The window opened and she went to close it, she turned around and saw Damon.

"What do you want?" She questioned.

"I want to apologize." He spoke.

"Damon." She sighed.

"Please. I know telling you everything Stefan said and did, that was wrong, I was just trying to look out for you."he spoke, "and I know I don't deserve your forgiveness but...I need it."

"Damon. I forgive you. I'm not mad at you. I'm mad at Stefan for not telling me in the first." She nodded.

"Are we still friends?" He questioned.

"Y/n! Do you want sprink-" Caroline opened the door, "Damon?"

"Sorry I was just leaving." Damon nodded and was about to walk out but kissed y/n cheek.

"Also Damon the answer to your question about our friendship, No you haven't lost me." She smiled.

He smiled and vamp sped out the window.

Y/n the girls and Jeremy were laughing all night and having fun, watching movies and playing games. Y/n even got Jeremy to let her do his hair and Makeup.

Damon and y/n became best friends and were always there for each other no matter what; they didn't push each other away.

Y/n healed after time and forgave Stefan but they never did have the same relationship as before.
