Episode I: Question of Beliefs

Y/N's POV

"Get back here, traitor!" I hear a Justice Knight called.

Hiding inside a corridor, the so-called righteous Justice Knight searches for me as I've committed treason for disobeying orders.

Taking out a puck, I threw it onto the wall confusing the pursuing Justice Knight and I aimed my M14 at the puck before pulling the trigger.

The bullet ricocheted off the puck and directly hit the dumbass's head and he collapsed on the floor dead.

Taking the chance to flee the scene, the whole city and Tawagata Justice League turned against me and I was alone.

Not even my now ex-girlfriend who I thought would help me in this situation did the exact opposite.

She betrayed me, apparently, our relationship is not as important as the Justice League and the corrupted Government.

None of that matters now, not anymore, I need to get hell out of here and find somewhere to lay low until the storm passes.

"DEADBOLT, STOP RIGHT THERE!!!" I hear my ex-girlfriend call me.

Turning around to face her, I was instantly surrounded by the rest of her team, the look in her eyes showed no emotion yet not a bit of sorrow for ending our relationship.

"We have you surrounded, Deadbolt, surrender now and the High Justice Council may show some mercy for your crimes," She said.

"Zuha, do you not see what the Justice League has become!? Your blind loyalty towards them only contributes to the corruption and crime that riles in the city!" I pointed it out and she scoffed.

"Shut it, Y/N, the difference between you and me is that I'm willing to do what's best for Tawagata, even if it includes killing you..." She replied and I deeply sighed.

"You're bloody mad, Zuha, I loved you... Do you know that? Did it not mean anything to you...?" I asked and she stood silent.

"Hm. Guess it didn't..." I said.

In a blink of an eye, I drew out my pistol and shot the oil containers causing a huge eruption inside the warehouse.

Embracing the firey explosion, I closed my eyes, and the shockwave launched my body and I hit the ground dead.

Three Hours Earlier...

In the City of Tawagata, once a city that thrived in the country, business was booming, and the stock market was majorly benefiting the business people.

However, with Kim Junseo's 4-year long term as the Governor coming to an end, the election year has begun.

"Who are you voting on?" Yunjin curiously asked.

"Isn't it obvious? Junseo of course, he's the best Governor that the city can ask for," I answered.

"I can agree with you on that one, I just don't like the vibe his rival is giving me..." She replied.

Yunjin has the powers of a siren, hence giving her the name "The Siren", she's able to manipulate her enemies with her voice and make them fight against one another.

Me? Well, the only supernatural ability I have is enhanced vision and I'm the deadliest sniper in the world.

Sadly, the leader of the High Justice Council doesn't share the same views as I do, Kazuha tried to advocate for me but it was no use.

However, with much convincing, Taeyeon agreed to train me under the wing of Eunbi and her girls.

The group never took me seriously and not even my best efforts during a mission whether successful or failure and that's still not good enough for them.

Eventually, I gave up, as being part of the Tawagata Justice League is a big enough accomplishment for me especially if I'm doing it for a good cause.

"Guys, check this out!" Eunchae announced.

Piquing my curiosity, Yunjin and I joined the others in the living room to watch the news channel.

"Just in, we've received the sad news that Governor Kim Junseo's son Kim Dal has been assassinated. The culprit behind this tragic event is yet to be found but because of this, Yang Hoseok has been elected and declared to be the next Governor of Tawagata!" The news reporter informed.

Everyone in the room was shocked by the news as this was completely out of the blue, we'd expected that Dal would win by a landslide.

I'd assume that Hoseok might have something to do with it, believe me, I know a selfish politician when I see one.

"Look girls, I know this is tragic and all but we have to move on and accept Hoseok as our new Governor and we must obey all orders," Eunbi explained and the girls nodded.

Feeling left out of the group, it surprises me that the girls including my girlfriend Kazuha just sides with Hoseok in an instant.

"Problem, Y/N?" She asked.

"N-No, Noona," I answered and she nodded.

"Good, because we've just received a mission from the new Governor Hoseok, he wants us to eliminate the assassin who's responsible for Dal's death," She informed us.

"Has the culprit already been found?" Kazuha asked and she nodded.

"Yes, but what's strange is that he only gave us a detail description of the murderer," She answered.

"What do they look like?" I asked.

"According to the report, she'll be wearing normal civilian clothing to blend in, and she's scheduled to meet up with rebel insurgents in the abandoned refinery." She explained.

"That seems odd, won't Hoseok know her name?" I asked.

"Don't know, I never asked, now come on, we've got a job to do," She replied and I started to suspect that something isn't adding up.

After that, she tells me that I'm going on the mission alone as a test of loyalty and to see if I'm ready to become an official member of the Justice League.

Gearing up for the mission, I put on my black camouflage uniform to blend in with the darkness of the night sky.

Loading up my modified SR-25, I take the gear I needed and Nako used her teleportation powers to take me to the abandoned refinery.

"Good luck, Y/N, you're going to need it," She finally said before warping back to base.

Taking a deep breath, I approach the refinery, there was nobody outside the building from what I can see from the distance.

Guess, they're not here yet, I go into the refinery and set up my pucks in various angles where one bullet is enough to kill everyone inside.

While setting up the trap, I happened to notice a rusted barrel that contains oil and fuel, just a little spark is enough to blow up the whole refinery.

Once I was finished setting up the trap for the murderer and the rebel insurgents, I set up upstairs on the railings, and patiently wait for my targets.

After about a few hours, I heard a few cars pulling up outside the refinery, looking through the scope I get eyes on the entrance.

The entrance doors open revealing a few rebels, they clear out the whole place and secured the perimeter.

"My lady, the refinery is clear!" One of the Rebels confirmed.

"This is it..." I said in my head as I'm about to get revenge for Dal.

Entering inside was a hooded figure, and she was wearing civilian clothing as described, however, just as I was about to take the killing shot...

My eyes widened in dismay as I couldn't believe what I was seeing through my scope when the hooded figure took off her hoodie revealing her face. A face well familiar to me.

"W-What the hell?!" I asked in my mind.
