Episode II: Goodbye for Now

Y/N's POV

How can this be...? There's no fucking way that she'd be the one that murdered Dal let alone her own younger brother.

Jennie... The daughter of the late Governor, it doesn't add up or make any sense at all that she'd end Dal's life.

Deciding to listen in to their conversation I pulled out my long-distance listening device to find out the truth.

"We're safe here for now, at least until the Justice Knights find us," One of the rebels said.

"I have a bad feeling that they've already had, and it's only a matter of time. Hoseok is a monster, he was the one that hired that assassin to murder him and he framed me," Jennie replied.

"Indeed, but without cold hard evidence, there's no way we can prove your innocence in his death," The rebel mentioned and she nodded.

She was framed... Of course, it makes sense now... Who else would want Dal? That fucking bastard, Hoseok is going to pay for this!

"Wait, I feel like we're being stalked by someone..." She sensed.

"What do you mean? Nobody is here but us," The rebel replied.

Slinging my rifle, I leaped down from the railing and landed on the ground, the rebels pointed their weapons at me until I took off my mask.

"Y-Y/N, what are you doing out here?" She nervously asked.

"I was sent by Eunbi to kill you and you were the one that murdered your own brother," I answered.

"So, are you going to kill me then like the rest of Hoseok's political opponents?" She asked and I shook my head.

"Nope, I'm not going to follow their orders, at least not anymore..." I replied and I happened to spot a glowing object on the wall.

Immediately, I drew out my pistol and shot at the object, I went to retrieve the object to investigate it, and I realized it was a probe.

Eunbi and the others must've been watching us the whole fucking time and that brings to question the Justice League.

"A probe...? Well, I can only guess that more Justice Knights will arrive here shortly," She pointed out and I sighed.

"I'm so sorry about this, Jen... I had no idea," I apologized but she shushed me.

"It's alright, it's not your fault, we need to move now or else they'll catch us," She explained and I shook my head.

"No, you guys go, I'll delay them as much as I can, the city and the people need you more than ever," I instructed.

"But what about you? You're already guilty of treason for just simply talking to me, and I heard what happens to those that desert the Justice League," She warned me.

"You worry about yourself and your rebellion, I can handle my own besides their superpowers and illusions don't frighten me," I assured and she deeply sighed.

Finally giving in, she ordered her group to vacate the refinery, they all hopped into the vans and sped off into the forest.

Soon after, it didn't take long for a squad of Justice Knights to arrive at the scene, and they looked pissed.

"The Justice League doesn't tolerate such failure and desertion, Deadbolt," Eunbi said as the Knights surrounded me.

"There were complications..." I replied.

"Indeed, the probe's footage provided a great amount of detail that you conspired with a villain let alone a terrorist," She explained.

"But since I'm feeling nice tonight, Deadbolt, I'm giving you two choices... One, you can fix your mistakes by terminating Jennie Kim and her rebel insurgents, or... Two, you can refuse to comply with our orders and I assume you know the consequences of treason." She offered and I sighed.

"So... What's it going to be...? Her or us?" Kazuha asked.

Contemplating my decisions here, there wasn't much of a choice as I'd either follow their orders or else I'll be imprisoned for eternity.

However, I already made my choice as soon as I found out how corrupt and greedy Hoseok is and his crimes against the city.

"Noona... The only reason I wanted to become part of the Tawagata Justice League is to protect civilians from the supervillains not to enslave them and fulfill a deadbeat politician's bidding." I explained.

"If this is what the Justice League is becoming... I want no part of it," I answered and I threw her my Justice League badge.

"Then I'm sorry Y/N... But it's treason. Execute him!" Eunbi ordered and I drew out my pistol shooting the pucks that ricochetted the bullet killing the surrounding Heros.

Using the confusion, I make a run for it and hide behind the support pillars as the Justice Knights hunt me down.

Kazuha and the others were frantically searching for me, I was caught off guard when a vine rose from the ground and grabbed a hold of my ankle.

"There you are!" She exclaimed as the vine held me upside down.

"W-Why are you siding with them, Zuha?! They're the fucking criminals in this!" I asked.

"Because I follow orders unlike you! Now, this is your last chance, surrender or die!" She replied.

Taking out my dagger, I cut the vines and I was set free, I get back up on my feet and continue running as other Justice Knights chased me.

Using a puck, I threw it onto the wall confusing the pursuing Justice Knight and I aimed my M14 at the puck before pulling the trigger.

The bullet ricocheted off the puck and directly hit the dumbass's head and he collapsed on the floor dead.

It's hard to believe that the whole Justice League had turned against me let alone my now ex-girlfriend who I thought would help me in this situation did the exact opposite.

She sees that our relationship is not as important as the Justice League and the bastard Hoseok.

None of that matters now, not anymore, I need to get hell out of here and find somewhere to lay low until the storm passes.

"We have you surrounded, Deadbolt, surrender now and the High Justice Council may show some mercy for your crimes," She said.

"Zuha, do you not see what the Justice League has become!? Your blind loyalty towards them only contributes to the corruption and crime that riles in the city!" I pointed it out and she scoffed.

"Shut it, Y/N, the difference between you and me is that I'm willing to do what's best for Tawagata, even if it includes killing you..." She replied and I deeply sighed.

"You're bloody mad, Zuha, I loved you... Do you know that? Did it not mean anything to you...?" I asked and she stood silent.

"Hm. Guess it didn't..." I said.

In a blink of an eye, I drew out my pistol and shot the oil containers causing a huge eruption inside the warehouse.

Embracing the firey explosion, I closed my eyes, and the shockwave carried me across the refinery and I was launched outside.

Lifting my head, I see the whole refinery burning up in flames, and I assume that everyone inside is likely been killed.

Examining my M14 rifle, it was broken in half making it useless, but it gives me an idea... I threw away all of my equipment on the ground to make it look like I'm dead.

Not wasting any time, I ran away from the scene and into the city as fast as possible to avoid patrols.

Kazuha's POV

Why...? Why did you turn your back on us Y/N...? All of this could've been avoided if you'd just completed the mission and killed that traitor.

Now here I am, miraculously surviving the oil explosion, using my powers of mother nature and the plants as a shield.

Pushing myself out of the wreckage, I saw that my team wasn't as lucky as I was, examining the area to find any signs of Deadbolt, I happened to find his badge in the piles of debris.

Dusting off the ash, the number matched up, and I go outside to find all of his gear and weapons in the grass.

There were no signs of where his dead body could be and I was starting to suspect he'd escaped.

Then, the rest of my team members arrived at the scene to inspect the wreckage, Sakura uses her psychic abilities to see if Deadbolt had survived or not.

"Hmm... It's mostly clouded, the last thing I saw was that he was engulfed in flames, so he's most likely dead," Sakura explained.

"Hmph. Good riddance to that traitor," Chaewon commented.

"But there's no dead body, so he has to be alive!" I mentioned.

"Zuha, without any evidence, there's no way we can prove he'd survived, besides we have bigger matters at hand," Eunbi explained and I sighed.
