Chapter 5

"Yan Da, watch out!" I said, pulling her towards me when a cart suddenly passed by nearly hitting her.

"Sheesh, be more careful will you," I said, giving her a once over. The two of us are now in a human village. Whose idea was it? Mine. It's to cheer her up. I really don't like it when she's upset or crying. So, I brought her here to the Village of Hanabi. The people who live here create beautiful fireworks.

Sadly, it's morning now so Yan Da and I couldn't watch their firework lighting and display. There's still a lot to see though so being here is still worth it. Besides, Yan Da seems to be enjoying herself. She's even skipping on her feet. I grinned. I'm glad that she's back to her cheerful self.

"Yun Fei," She said, looking at me. "Walk faster, you slowpoke."

A slowpoke huh? I smirked, accepting the challenge. Suddenly, I was in front of her. Making her gasped in shock.

I laughed, flicking her forehead. "Now, who is the slowpoke?" I asked, teasing her. Her eyes narrowed. She then smirked. "It's soo on." She said, running fast.

I grinned, seeing her disappear from the crowd. After a minute, I chase after her. It's a game we always played. It's a race and at the same time a game of hide and seek and tag. Whoever loses will grant the wish of the winner.

Ten minutes passed and I finally found her. She was sitting on top of a big rock near the stream of the village.

"Yan Da!" I called out. I quickly bit my lip though stifling a laugh when she turned around.

"What?" she asked, swallowing. I grinned, sitting beside her.

"You looked like a beaver." I told her. "You're really something. It's just a few minutes and you  already emptied the food stall." I continued, teasing her.

"You!" She said, trying to hit me. I laughed, expertly dodging her attacks. I'm already use to them.

She growled. Frustrated that she couldn't land a hit at all. Looking behind her, I suddenly said. "Eh, what's that?"

As expected she turned around. She frowned when she realized that I had tricked her again. When she was about to turn around, I took my chance. Kissing her softly on the cheek.

She froze. Slowly, I saw a blush formed on her cheeks. So, cute.

I then held her hand, directing her back into the village.

Hours later...

I am now back at my room in the Ice Palace, tossing and turning in my bed. I couldn't sleep. The conversation between Yan Da and I kept on replaying on my mind. If I had a choice, I would never leave her. I knew how much she needed someone by her side. Getting up, I sneaked out of the castle.

I went to the cherry blossom garden.

What can I do? I don't want Yan Da to be alone when I'm gone. She needs at least someone to talk to. Suddenly, an idea came into my mind.

I then focused on my energy. Slowly, snow accumulated in front of me. Little by little it formed into something. First, the paws. Then, the body. Lastly, the head.

When it's done, I studied the creature in front of me. I smiled, admiring my handiwork.

It looks good. I'll awaken it when the time comes but for now...

Forming a glacier, I hid the creature inside of it.

Just sleep in there.

Contented, I went back to the castle. Inside. I felt Shi moved. I smiled. Finally, he's awake.

Days passed, I noticed that Shi and Ka Suo had become close. When Shi woke up, Ka Suo talked to him and apologized. My counterpart was skeptical at first but Ka Suo was patient and showed him that he was really sincere.

Starting there, the two often hang out together. I'm glad. He finally has someone to play and talk to. At the same time, though, I feel sad. I could feel my presence becoming weaker. I knew then that sooner or later I'm going to disappear.

Yan Da, I'm sorry. It seems like I have to leave you  much earlier than I thought.
