Night came...

We watched the fireworks display. They were truly beautiful. I looked at Yan Da. She was smiling happily. Noticing my gaze, she returned it. I smiled. Her eyes suddenly dimmed though, making me worried. So, I tug her hand going somewhere that's more quiet.

"What wrong?" I asked, letting go of her hand. We are now in the Fireflies' stream. So, both of us were surrounded by the small lighting bugs.

Yan Da just looked at me. Her eyes full of sadness.

"Yan Da?" I gently said, encouraging her to talk.

"You're leaving aren't you?" She stated almost a whisper but I heard it. Loud and clear. I stood, just looking at her in surprise.

I then nodded, answering her. There's no point in denying it.

Yan Da gasped, avoiding my eyes. Tears are now streaming down her cheek. "Why? Is it because of me? Did I do something wrong?"

"No!" I immediately answered, approaching her and making her look at me. "You are my best friend. I wouldn't want to leave you if I had a choice."

I said a bit angry. Not at her but at our situation. I hate it that I have to hide who I am to be with her. I hate it that I'm just an embodiment of Shi's desires. And most of all I hate it that I have no choice but to leave her, my most important person.

Yan Da sobbed. My eyes soften, putting my hands around her. "Dui bu qi," I whispered into her ear.

"Sheesh it's your birthday and I'm making you cry. I'm the worst best friend," I said, making her laugh a bit.

"Yeah, you are." She said, looking at me.

"You'll be fine Yan Da. You are a strong girl." I told her, wiping her tears. I then kissed her forehead.

"But you're the only friend that I have. I don't want to be alone." She said, clinging to my shirt.

I chuckled. "Who said that you're going to be alone?"

I let her go. "Close your eyes." I instructed. When she did, I waved my hand.

My real gift to her, appearing in my hand. "You can open them now."

Yan Da's eyes then widened in wonder, looking at the adorable creature in his hands. It's a dire wolf cub.

"It's so cute!" Yan Da squealed, touching the cub's forehead. The pup knowing that the girl is his mistress licked her palms. It made the fire princess smile wider.

"Is he mine?" Yan Da asked me eagerly. I laughed. " Of course, here hold him." I said, giving the pup to her.

She held it eagerly. " Hello, I'm Yan Da. Your new owner."

I smiled, watching her. "So, what are you going to name him?"

"Hmm... Peng Peng!" She exclaimed.

"Peng Peng?" I repeated, making her glare at me. Feeling his owner's irritation, the pup also growled at me. I chuckled. Well. I guess I created him right. It's only her that he will obey and follow. No one else even me.

"He's mine. I can call him whatever I want." She stated. "Isn't that right Peng Peng?" The pup barked in agreement.

"Yan Da," I said, interrupting their moment. "What's your final wish?"
