XV

A/N: if any of you get confused with the time placement of this chapter compared to the last one...I kinda messed this up.

I said that Zelda's coronation was happening on the day that Link and Ganondorf left Hyrule for the first time. And then, we left off with those two in Kakariko Village. In the last chapter, it was the night of her coronation and she fell asleep, thus entering the new day.

This is really confusing and I've tried coming up with the best possible way to fix my mistake, so I don't have to edit the entire freaking chapters.

We left off with Link and Ganondorf entering Kakariko on the day of Zelda's coronation, right? Well, we got Zelda's coronation done and stuff. But nothing about Ganondorf and Link was told.

So, this chapter is basically what happened during the day of Zelda's coronation, and will end with them falling asleep in Kakariko, entering the new day.

Then, the time will be in sync with that of Zelda's point of view, and everything's okay, I think.

Sorry for messing things up - I hope this made some sense to you. Carry on with your reading now.

The door closed gently behind them, creaking a bit in the process, but that was to be expected. After all, from the looks of it, this home and the entire village at that seemed to be deserted and run down. Link had really expected Kakariko to look different, and was shocked upon seeing the town for the first time. He felt like Kakariko would be a small and cozy village, with not many residents and a few buildings. Some of his predictions were correct, but he was mostly expecting the place to look more alive and not so dull and empty.

Link felt a little uneasy about entering a stranger's house, but he and Ganondorf didn't really have any other options at the moment. Finding the person holding the Triforce of Courage was going to be harder than they had anticipated.

The young girl, whose name was apparently Farona, patted her hands on two chairs that sat next to a wooden table. Link and Ganondorf cautiously sat down in those chairs, looking over at her and seeing her smile a bit.

"You guys must be hungry, right?" Farona asked, clasping her hands together and looking back and forth at Link and Ganondorf.

Ganondorf waved his hand up and shook his head. "No, we're fine-"

"Actually, we are hungry," Link protested, interrupting Ganondorf. He wore a toothy grin on his face, making Farona's eyes light up with delight.

"I haven't had visitors in awhile, so this is exciting for me," she informed. "I'll make some soup for you guys, okay?"

Farona waved a small goodbye to the two, before entering a small room nearby. Link watched as her slender figure disappeared behind the walls, which had some torn wallpaper on them and showed off the wood planks behind the plaster.

Then, Link turned to face Ganondorf with disbelief.

"We don't need to ask her for food," Link said. "That's like we're pushing her around."

"But she offered to make food..." Ganondorf muttered, shaking his head and sighing at Link. "You're stupider than you look."

"Your personality matches your appearance," Link huffed.

Suddenly, Ganondorf slammed his clenched and large fists on the table the sat at, standing up as he did so. His chair slid back a bit when he stood, making a rather awful creaking sound as it slid across the wooden floors below.

Not a single trace of fear was evident on Link's face. Instead of cowering at the taller and most likely much stronger person (compared to him, at least), Link kept himself seated. Hands placed on both of his legs, he begun a random staring contest with the Gerudo. Except it wasn't really a staring contest - more like a death glare showdown.

Small footsteps clanked against the wood flooring, causing Link and Ganondorf to snap out of their death stare contest and look at where the sound had come from. Farona stood there, holding a small wooden tray that looked a bit worn out. The tray had three medium-sized bowls of soup sat atop it, with three spoons sitting inside the liquids.

Farona smiled a bit, walking over to the table and beginning to serve the soup. Ganondorf quickly sat himself back down, scooting his chair back up against the table and trying to make this a bit less awkward than it already was.

"Was I interrupting something?" Farona asked, chuckling a bit after she had spoken.

Link shook his head. "No, no."

"Oh," Farona mused. "You guys seemed like you were about to fight each other. I could see the murderous glint in your eyes," Farona said in a calm voice, pointing at Ganondorf.

The Gerudo male crossed his arms over his chest and shrugged. "Whatever."

"So...you guys are searching for the person who wields the Triforce of Courage, correct?" Farona asked. She just wanted to get straight to the point, otherwise there would be no point in these two being here.

Link picked up the spoon that had been swirling around the bowl of soup, putting it in his mouth and eating whatever trace of soup was on the spoon. While he did that, the Hylian man nodded quickly and then began to eat the rest of the soup. It was apparently chicken noodle soup, something Link had a lot when he was a child. And he really enjoyed it. This Farona girl was a good cook.

"I don't exactly know the answer, but I do know much about the Triforce," Farona said, taking two bites of her soup before continuing her speech.

"My parents were historians like me. They traveled Hyrule far and wide, searching for clues and artifacts that could lead to more information being discovered about this country. When I was very young, my father would always tell me about the Triforce and tales of Hyrule. He told me about the regions that laid out far from this small town of Kakariko, describing vast worlds I wished to escape to. But, I was only a child and I couldn't leave the village. I was too cowardly to go adventuring like my parents, anyway.

"Um...eventually, I began to research into deeper depths of the Triforce's history. While I did find Hyrule fascinating - and I still do - I was and have always been more interested in the Triforce. Everything about it enchants me. Its origin, history, the powers it holds...just everything. As I researched more and more into it as I got older, I eventually learned about the pieces and what they meant. Power, Courage, and Wisdom. Three different souls bound by fate get to wield the powers of either one of these three.

"One day, while I was reading about the quantities the three golden pieces possess, my father had told me that in this day and age, something felt off. He didn't know what, but he felt like it had to do with the Triforce. Now, I have no idea what he meant, but I conjured up a lame theory back then on why I think he felt that way."

Farona took a few more bites of her soup, looking at both Link and Ganondorf to make sure they were listening. Ganondorf was, and had only eaten half of his soup. Link was also listening, but had already finished his soup. Farona stifled a giggle at the sight, clearing her throat and returning to her story.

"My theory is that...the balance of the Triforce has been thrown off," Farona spoke.

Link stared at her in disbelief for a few seconds, before regaining his mind and allowing millions of questions to swarm his brain.

"The balance of the Triforce? What do you mean?" Link questioned.

"Well-" Farona started, but was cut off by Link.

"I thought the goddesses had kept the Triforce sustained for centuries now...why in this age have they not?" Link asked again. Farona could see clearly in his eyes that they were curious and begging for answers.

"I don't know...something must've happened to throw off the balance of the Triforce, but I can't find any answers to that question," Farona said, then shrugged as she stared at the small reflection of herself that she could see in her soup. "But like I said, that's just my theory. It's not confirmed to be true."

"I can believe your theory, though," Ganondorf said, holding his hand out and revealing the marking of the Triforce of Wisdom that he had imprinted on his skin.

Farona's eyes went wide with shock when she laid her eyes on Ganondorf's hand. She slowly reached her paler and much smaller hand out to just admire the marking. She had never seen the marking in person, and seeing it now was unbelievable to her.

"You...have the Triforce of Wisdom?" she asked, though she already knew the answer was yes.

"Correct," Ganondorf said with a nod, grabbing his spoon once more and returning to eating his chicken noodle soup.

"The thing is," Link spoke up, "before we came here, we visited a library in Castle Town and found out some information about the Triforce and some of Hyrule's history. We also learned a bit about the souls of the hero and the goddess Hylia reincarnated."

"In one of the texts, it said that the evil being that the Hero of Time fought against had the same name as me. Which is strange, but...anyways, it also mentioned that he possessed the Triforce of Power at the time," Ganondorf said.

Farona wanted to jump out of her seat when Ganondorf said all of that, but she knew that would be terribly rude of her. So, she remained calm and inhaled, then exhaled her breath before speaking.

"So...maybe that evil man was you, but a different incarnation..." Farona pondered. "Either that, or you are the same man as him and you possess the Triforce of Wisdom."

"Which would lead to your theory being correct - the one about the Triforce balance being thrown off," Link informed, tapping his spoon lightly against the now empty bowl in front of him.

"My theory would be true?" Farona repeated in utter shock, looking down at her hands which sat in her lap and shaking her head.

"That would mean...the Triforce of Power and Wisdom got messed up somehow," Farona said. "They've switched places."

"Switched places? As in, Ganondorf has Wisdom and some other person has Power?" Link asked for confirmation.

Farona nodded. "I would assume that whoever possessed the Triforce of Wisdom in the Hero of Time's era would be the one who has Power now."

"It was usually the hero and Hylia's reincarnation who possessed the Triforce of Wisdom and Courage. I already know the hero had courage, which means that Hylia's reincarnation possessed Wisdom," Link said.

"Do you know who is a descendant of Hylia's reincarnation?" Farona asked Link. "Or, is there any suitable person in the Royal Family that you know of? He or she may be related to the Princess of Time from the Hero of Time era."

"There's the princess - er, queen, Zelda..." Link mumbled, eyes widening when the realization struck him.

"Does that mean Zelda wields the Triforce of Power?" Ganondorf inquired, looking back and forth at Link and Farona. He was anxiously awaiting an answer from either one of them, but the two blonde's fell silent for a few seconds.

"I would think so," Farona finally answered after awhile. "I've heard rumors about Princess Zelda. I didn't know she had been crowned queen. She's too young, right?"

"Long story," Link and Ganondorf said at the same time, giving each other nervous glances before facing Farona once more.

"Alright... I've heard rumors about Queen Zelda. She sounds like a very hostile and terrible person..." Farona said. "But the Princess of Time was known to be one of the kindest people in all of Hyrule...I mean, this would explain very well that Zelda is indeed the one who wields Power in this age."

Link and Ganondorf stared at Farona, wondering what she had meant by her statement.

"The personality change. The evil man who wielded Power before her was evil. That would explain her personality in this day and age," Farona explained shortly.

Silence filled the room, the creaky noises of the wood below them sounding and the light noise of Link tapping his spoon against his bowl. Ganondorf glared at the Hylian, making Link immediately halt his actions and sit his spoon down carefully.

"So, it's confirmed to us," Farona announced. "Zelda is the one who possesses the Triforce of Power, and Ganondorf here possesses the Triforce of Wisdom."

The only thing left for them to do was find the man who wielded the Triforce of Courage. Little did they know, the answer was right in front of them all along.

A/N: sigh.

I need to update more often or this fanfiction is going to take years to finish. I've been writing this thing since August of last year...

Then again, I was gone for six months so that doesn't really count...

The point is I need to update more often and I'll try to.
