1: Pigtail braids

"It was love at first sight, at last sight, at ever and ever sight."

- Vladimir Nabokov, Lolita

Flash forward

She kissed him behind his ear, softly and teasingly, making sure she didn't wake him up. She smiled mischievously to herself. Flipping one of her pigtail behind her. She bit her lip in  concentration, as she carefully lifted up his t-shirt. She softly ran her tongue along her lips, admiring how sexy he looked, his long legs spread across the couch, his hard chest moving up and down, as he heaved softly.

Behind her long eyelashes, her eyes skimmed along his face, as she swallowed hard, mouth watering.

He was beautiful. His face was masculine, but his sleeping eyes were soft. Not like the other guys she used to see sleeping in class at high school. She looked down and softly trailed her fingers along his belt, slowly unbuckling it.

She gasped, as her eyes flew wide open. A hand stopped her.

She looked up at Bryan staring up at her, eyes still sleepy, sexy, and confused. "What're you doing?" He asked, half whispering.

She was first shocked, and afraid, heart hammering in her chest in shame. But she soon smiled down at him, placing her index finger on his lips. "Shh..." She whispered, inching towards him, until her lips were right next to his ear, "I know you want me to do this. I see the way you look at me. Pervert." She said, playfully, giggling.

She carried on unbuckling his belt, surprised to see that he wasn't stopping her. "Candice..." He began, but she cut him off.

"I told you not to call me that." She hissed.

He slowly sat up, and surprised her by grabbing her waist, pulling her closer to him, then he lied back down. Candice, helpless, was trapped on top of him, not able to get out of his grip. He started to lick her neck, then kissing it lightly. Using his one hand to feel the soft braids of her pigtails.

Candice closed her eyes, smiling to herself in amazement. It felt so good. It felt so strange. She felt like a woman. She never knew that lying on top of a man in a sexual way would feel this intense. He felt muscular all over as her legs touched his.

Her eyes flew open as she heard the front door unlocking. "Shit." She wriggled out of his grip, and sat up. As he was about to do the same, she pushed him back down and this time, put her index finger on her own lips. "Shh." She said again.

Bryan chuckled amazingly to himself, rubbing his forehead and looking away. He seemed to gain focus again, as he quickly re-done his belt, then pretending to be asleep.

Candice's mother walked in, carrying a white plastic bag, as she eyes her suspiciously.

Candice looked up at her, innocently, but then cracked a cute grin.

"What're you doing, Candice?" Her mother asked.

Candice shrugged, "Just watching a movie."She replied.

Her mother looked at Bryan, the sitter, then back at Candice. "Don't even think about doing anything that i would not be proud of." She whispered to Candice, thinking Bryan was really asleep.

Candice shrugged again, "I don't know what you're talking about, mom."

The mom rolled her eyes and placed the white paper bag on the kitchen counter. "I bought some Chinese takeout for you and Bryan. I'm coming back in the morning, i'm expecting a delivery."

"Aw thanks but...i've already eaten." Candice sad, wriggling her eyebrows, and getting a lollipop from her short pocket, unwrapping it, then putting it in her mouth.

"Goodnight, mom." She said, sweetly, and marched upstairs.

End Of Flash Forward

Candice's mom pulled the earphones out of her ears, frustratingly. Candice frowned deeply at her, "What?" She moaned, like a baby.

"I told you i'm going to the grocery store. Now, what do you want?" Her mother asked, impatiently.

"Um..." She purposely took long to answer, and than grinned up at her mother, "Lucky charms. Get two." She demanded, rudely.

The mom nodded and sighed in relief, rolling her eyes.

"Oh!" Candice exclaimed, stopping her mother, "And new lollipops. Lots. I've ran out." She said, smiling tauntingly at her mother, then turned back around and sat properly on the couch, putting her earphones in and grabbing a magazine.

"Candice." Her mother called.

Candice nodded to the music, and skimmed through the pages.

"Candice!" Her mother called out again, this time with anger.

Candice took out her earphones again, and just looked at her mother, irritated, but looking calm on the outside.

"The new sitter will be here later today. Do NOT do what you did to the old babysitter last time."

Candice rolled her eyes, "Still not over that? She was a bitch from the be-"

"Hey,watch your mouth!"

"I don't need a stupid babysitter, mom. I'm sixteen, i can take care of myself."

"Well, apparently, you showed me wrong. Which is why i did this in the first place." Her mother grabbed her coat and hurriedly unlocked the front door.

"Well, maybe you should take responsibility for once as a mother instead of hiding and avoiding your precious little daughter." Candice said, sweetly.

Her mother opened the door, and sighed, not looking back. "Look presentable before the sitter arrives."

Candice grimaced and mumbled to herself, "Whatever, loser." She grabbed the remote and turned up the volume of the T.V. putting her bare feet up on the coffee table. She hated the thought of having another babysitter. She wasn't 6. And she certainly didn't need one. She heard her ring tone, and took the phone, holding it above her face, lying on her back.

'What r you doing l8er?? I haven't hung out with you in ages!'  Her friend Jenny messaged her. She sighed and put the phone back down, and spread her arms out, like a bird and closed her eyes, then, she fumbled her hands around, searching for her paper fan. When she finally felt it with her hands, she grabbed it and fanned herself.

—————-

"Candice!" Her mother yelled, reaching the living room, only to find Candice in the same spot she was before she left.

"I thought i told you to look look presentable." She said, throwing the bag of lollipops to her.

Candice gasped in delight and grabbed the bag, and stood up, running over to her mother and hugging her, then kissed her cheek. "Thank you." She said, mocking a posh accent.

"Candice!" Her mother called, scolding.

"What?!" Candice yelled back, seeming angry for a moment, but then focusing her attention on the bag of lollipops, opening it, then unwrapping one, and popping it into her mouth.

"I said-"

Candice laughed at what was on the television screen, and licked her lollipop.

"Candice-" Her mother paused, trying to not lose her temper. "I said i thought i told you to look presentable!"

There was a knock at the door, and Candice groaned, rolling her eyes. "Oh great. The sitter. Answer the door, will you?" Candice demanded, sitting upside down on the couch, her legs resting on top of it.

"Don't tell me what to do in my own home." Her mother warned, pointing her fingers at her.

"Your home? You're barely here half of the time." Candice replied.

Her mother looked like she was going to shout, or cry, or get angry. "I am so sick of you." She just said, and walked away to answer the door.

Her mother, Samantha, opened the door, revealing the handsome young man with light brown hair and dark eyes. Samantha looked at him up and down in shock.

"Hey, nice to meet you. I'm Bryan. The new sitter."

Samantha shook his hand, but she didn't smile. "Yes, good to finally meet you. You sound very different from how you look." She pointed out, grimacing.

Bryan raised his eyebrows in question. "Huh?" He mumbled, "What's that supposed to mean?"

"Nothing." Candice's mother said, "Nothing at all. So, Candice is just in the living room. She just turned sixteen. I can't take care of her all the time because...well...um-work. You know how it is. And when teenagers..." He followed her down  the corridor as she carried on running her mouth. He's been constantly wondering why the hell he had to babysit a fucking teenager, but didn't dare question it, as long as he got the job. He slightly flinched when the mother screamed out, "Candice!"

"What?!" A girl's voice answered back, with twice the amount of attitude than her mother.

Bryan secretly shook his head and rolled his eyes. Is this what he's going to deal with? He shrugged and sighed. Suck it up, you need the money, he said to himself. He reached the living room, ready to see what kind of nightmare was waiting for him, but he didn't know what to expect when he saw the girl's smooth, tanned legs gracefully resting on top of the cold, leather couch. Her pigtails falling and merely reaching the floor, as she inspected this new visitor with her eyes, she she lifted her hands to her mouth, with slightly glossy lips, and took out her lollipop teasingly, with a quiet 'pop'. They wouldn't seem to be ending their gazes upon each other any time soon, and quite after, Bryan felt a sense of guilt, staring at a 16 year old girl like that. He was nearly going to walk away, turn down the job. But something apart from the money made him stay, something innocent, intriguing, and both insane at the same time. And the girl that made him stop in his tracks smiled at him, fantasizing about how much fun she'll have with her new sitter.

"...And you're going to be good to him, do you hear me?" The mother said.

Candice blinked up at her mother, "HM?"

Her mother sighed, giving up.

Candice then slowly turned back to her new babysitter, "So, you're my new sitter?" She asked, pointing at him with her lollipop.

He nodded, "I am."

A smile slowly crept over her lips, as she slipped her lollipop back inside the mouth. "M'kay." Her muffled voice said. She sat the right side up, now, to get a better view of him.

"Bryan." He said, just to make sure she knew his name.

She smiled at him, then giggled. "Candice." She said, innocently, "No- just call me Candy." She rolled her lollipop along her teeth, grinning softly.

Bryan clenched his jaw, and gulped. "I'd rather stick with Candice."

Her mother stepped in, "Candice, that's enough. And respect him while i'm gone, he's going to be taking care of you." She hugged Candice, and whispered in her ear, "DON'T mess around, you hear me."

Candice rolled her eyes as they pulled away, and smiled at her mother.

"Bryan don't let her do anything she's not supposed to do."

"Oh? Don't you trust me, mother?" Candice asked, provokingly.

Bryan shook his head. That's right. She's just another one of those spoiled teenage brats who don't know how to respect their parents. He sighed, crossing his arms.

"Bryan, i left my phone number on the entryway table, if something happens, call me."

"Got it." He said.

"Candice, i warned you!" Her mother called out, before she got out of the door.

Bryan turned to Candice, and she stared up at him, smiling, but her smile soon faded, as she looked at him rudely, and stood up, grabbing her bag of lollipops aggressively and carrying it with her upstairs.

Bryan sighed, wondering what he's got himself into. All he knew, is that this wasn't going to be an easy job.
