19: Revenge is sweet

Previously:

"Just get in or i'm gonna have to come up there and get you." He warned.

She leaned on the window sill and smile cheekily at him, "And what makes you think i'm gonna come down here?" She asked, teasingly.

"Because i said so?" He said.

"Mm...Nope."

"Because it's a hell of a lot better than where you are and you know it." He said.

She grinned, that's so true. That's so true it almost hurts, "I'm sold."

19: Revenge is sweet

'Revenge is like the sweetest joy next to getting pussy'

-Tupac Shakur

She smelt seashells and sand, mixed with the salty water of the ocean. She wrinkled her nose, and slowly opened her eyes. She was greeted by the light blue sky, as the cool morning air washed over her. She slowly sat up, as she found herself sitting on a beach towel meters from what looked like a burned out fire, with piles of wood that were covered in charcoal. She looked around, and saw Salvatore sleeping next to her, and a few other people scattered on the beach, some awake, and some still passed out with a bottle of beer next to them.

She doesn't remember what happened last night.

That same cold fear rushed over her as her mouth turned dry. She turned to Salvatore and shook him violently, breathing heavily. "Hey...hey!"

Salvatore scowled and groaned at her, waving her away.

"Salvatore, wake the fuck up!"

He finally opened his eyes, squinting at her. "Candice...what time is it?" He said, in his deep, sleepy voice.

"Did you try anything with me last night? Did you...?" She choked out, scared of the answer.

Salvatore chuckled lazily and rubbed his eyes, "If i tried anything last night you would be sleeping naked next to me."

She breathed out in relief, but her heart was still hammering.

"You cool?" He asked, frowning at Candice's pale face.

"Yeah, yeah...i thought..." She ran a hand through her hair which was damp for some reason, and sat up, watching the sun rise over the horizon. "What time is it?" She suddenly asked.

"That's what i want to know." He said, sitting up and grabbed his t-shirt and slipped it on. Candice turned to him and for half a second, caught a glimpse of Salvatore's tattoo, as he was turning his back to her, but it was soon covered up by his t-shirt. He stood up and sighed checking his pockets for his phone. When he finally found it, he scrolled through it. "6 am." He said.

"Mmh, i better go home and get ready." She said, as Salvatore gave her a hand getting up. He seemed to text someone, then finally answered her.

"I'll drive you home." He offered.

--

She fell off the window sill and stumbled onto her bedroom floor.

After she got ready, she checked her phone for any messages. Then stopped dead in her tracks. 21 missed calls from Steve? How dare he call her? He did to Bella the same thing Brandon and Tucker did to Candice. Why is Steve calling her? To threaten her to keep her mouth shut? She groaned and shook her head.

She got a text from one of her friends from Lincoln High. She frowned. Sophie hardly ever texts her.

'Call me!'  It said.

Candice did Sophie told her and waited for her to answer.

"Candy Cane!" Sophie exclaimed.

"Hey, Sophie. What's up?" Candice asked, lying on her bed.

"Okay...i know i haven't heard your voice for a while but...you sound hungover."

"How would you know?" Candice asked, raising one eyebrow.

"Because i am too." She sighed. "I heard about you and Hayley's confrontation last week..."

"I only wanted her to be safe at that stupid basketball party." Candice said, defensively.

"I know, i know. But we ended up going last night-"

"What? Hayley said she wasn't even thinking about going." Candice hissed. "What happened?"

"Oh, nothing much...I mean...i don't remember much..." She laughed nervously.

Candice stopped breathing. "Soph...you sound weird...what's going on?"

She chuckled, "Oh, nothing...it's just boys these days are really stubborn..."

"Wait..." Candice sat up, "What- what boys are you talking about, exactly? Are you talking about all of them?"

"No, some were cool...Brandon and that weird guy are another story though..." Sophie said, nervously. Candice clenched her jaw.

Sophie carried on. "They seemed kinda...forceful."

--

Candice searched around for a painkiller, when she finally found one she popped it into her mouth and drank it down.

"Didn't you hear me calling you last night?" Her father asked.

"I was asleep." She replied, coldly.

"You can't stay mad at me."

"Believe me, there's something else that i'm more furious about. But let's not pretend i'm too glad about what you did yesterday, dad."

She said, grabbing her bag from the coat hanger.

"Didn't you get any breakfast?" Her dad asked.

"No." She said, walking out of the door.

"Your driver's waiting-"

She slammed the door shut behind her and saw the driver's car parked outside the house. She turned away and headed to the direction of Salvatore standing next to his motorbike which was parked on the other side of the street, waiting for her.

She walked towards him with hard eyes, and grabbed his shirt, and kissed him right near the lips.

When she pulled away, Salvatore's side of his lips twitched, but he had a confused look in his eyes. "What was that for?"

Candice shrugged innocently, "Oh, nothing." She said.

She now realizes what she has to do here. The whole reason why she came here. And what she has to do before she comes back home.

She is going to plot her revenge on Brandon and Tucker.

--

Bryan got out of the car, Clara following behind him as they got into the convenience store. Bryan grabbed his usual 6 pack of beer and Clara looked at him, her red lips curved into a smile, as she went and bought a pack of cigarettes.

"You should've seen what happened last night, bro."

Bryan heard a teenage guy said.

"All he did was pull one chick." Some guy said.

The teenage guy scoffed, "But did you check out her ass?"

"That bitch was nearly passed out when you was talking to her." Some guy said.

"The chick was passed out on my bed, yo." The teenage guy said.

"Bruh..." The guy said, quietly.

"Ew, Brandon." Some girl said, lazily following them.

"So?!" Brandon  replied to them.

Brandon...where has Bryan heard that name before?

That's it.

Candice mentioned him.

Brandon Lee.

Bryan turned around, "Hey." He said, coldly. "Your name's Brandon Lee?"

The guy frowned, "Who the hell are you?"

Bryan stepped closer to him, as Brandon stepped back. "Fucking answer me."

"Dude, chill..." Some guy said, stepping in front of Bryan, but Bryan grabbed him and pushed him away.

"What's going on?" Clara suddenly said, running to Bryan.

"Yeah my name's Brandon Lee, so what?!" Brandon asked, terrified.

"Do you know a girl named Candice?" He demanded.

"Psh, no."

Bryan nodded, his jaw clenched, then threw a punch at Brandon.

Clara gasped and grabbed Bryan. "What the fuck are you doing hitting a kid?"

But Bryan wasn't done yet, as he  grabbed Brandon from the floor and pushed him into the wall, his friends frozen in shock.

"I'm calling the police!" Said the store clerk.

Clara pulled Bryan's arm. "Let's just go, Bryan. Whatever it is, it ain't worth it."

"It fucking is to me."

Brandon tried to wriggle free out of Bryan's grip, but Bryan pulled him and pushed him hard against the wall.

"Bryan stop!" Clara exclaimed, and turned to the store clerk. "We're leaving! Promise."

Bryan let Brandon go and let him fall to the floor. "You're lucky i didn't kill you." He spat.

--

People stared at Candice as she hopped off Salvatore' bike.

Some guy came up to Salvatore and greeted through a hand shake. "What's up, man." Said the guy.

"Yo, Candice, this is Tyler from last night." Said Salvatore.

"Hey, Tyler." Candice said, sounding enthusiastic.

While they were talking, Candice spotted Jane staring at Candice, her jaw dropped. Jane gave Candice a look that said 'you better tell me everything.' As she pointed at her in a scolding manner, then waited for her, crossing her arms.

"...And she was wild last night." Said Tyler, smirking at Candice.

Candice smiled tightly.

"Anyway, i'll catch you later." He said to Salvatore.

"Yeah, man." Salvatore said.

Tyler wrapped one arm around Candice. "Peace out." He said, and walked off, hands in his pocket.

Jane was practically dying at that  point as she waited impatiently for Candice to come over to her.

Candice and Salvatore walked over tot he school building as one of his friends joined them. She finally reached Jane as she widened her eyes at Candice, but acted calm. "Hey, Candice." She said.

"Hey, what's up?" Candice replied.

"Wait, you're Jane, right?" Salvatore asked.

"Yeah, how'd you know?" Jane asked, her heart dropping to her stomach as her face became bright red. Did he hear her talking about him on the lunch table yesterday?

"Candice mentioned you last night."

"She did?" Jane said, giving Candice a warning look.

"I did?"

Salvatore chuckled, "You were really drunk last night weren't you?"

"I...guess i must have been. Um. Anyway, thanks for the ride."

"Anytime." He said, and walked away with his friend.

"'Thanks for the ride?'" Jane asked. "And i hope to god you didn't say anything about me talking about him last night!"

"Sorry, Jane. I don't remember what happened last night. But it must have been pretty wild."

"So you decided to go after all, huh? I told you it was gonna be worth it."

Candice laughed, "When did you say that?"

"In my mind." Jane said, flipping her hair. "Now, tell me everything."

Candice sighed. "I don't know. But he was in front of my window in his motorcycle and picked me up to that bonfire, i guess."

"He picked you up in his motorcycle, and he drove you to school in his motorcycle. Candice, he doesn't even let girls touch that thing- hey, Mark!" Jane said, snickering and dragging Candice over to Mark.

Oh, great.

"What's up...?" Mark said, shutting his locker.

"You can say 'bye bye' to your little fantasy about being with Candice because she found herself a catch!" Jane exclaimed. "Salvatore." She said, giving Mark a taunting look.

Mark frowned, "What?" He said, not believing it, "Stop fucking with me, Jane."

"I'm serious-"

"That's enough, Jane." Candice snapped, "I'm not in a romantic relationship with Salvatore. I don't even know his last name for crying out loud."

"Salvatore." Jane said.

"Now you're just being annoying-"

"No. His last name is Salvatore. He makes people call him by his last name. He changed his name so many times i lost count."

"What the heck- Why?"

"Duh. Because his father's a mob boss. He's been seen doing weird shit. It's like he's running some kind of secret government organisation. He never gets arrested. Actually, Salvatore is kind of mysteriously sketchy too." Jane said, as they both looked at Salvatore from across the hallway.

"So what's his first name?" Candice asked.

"Who knows. He like- changes it every month."

"Ha! So the fact that he did not tell me about this proves the fact that WE ARE NOT DATING."

She gave her a look of 'Just wait and see' and turned to Mark, blinking, "Are you still here?" She asked him rudely.

Mark shook his head at Jane, "Bitch..." He muttered under his breath and walked off.

--

"Bryan, what the hell was that?" Clara demanded, struggling to keep up with him. "Don't fucking do that again."

"It doesn't concern you."

"Yes it does!" She said, and ran in front of him, stopping him. "I hate to see stuff like that. Especially since i grew up in a rough neighborhood. And you may not believe me but i don't give a shit. Yes, i used to be what they called a 'Chola'. Think whatever you want to think, but you're the only one who didn't judge me the first time we met. And for you to pull that stunt back there was just stupid."

Bryan scoffed, shrugging and dropping his arms to his side, "What makes you think i care about your little story? We were nothing serious, anyway so why do you care?"

Clara nodded understandingly, then spoke, "I'm out." She said, and left him standing alone on the sidewalk.

--

"Dude, we should fucking call the police." Brandon's friend said. "What was that dude on?"

Brandon shook his head, spitting blood out of his mouth. "I don't know."

"Who was he talking about? Do you know a person named Candice?" He demanded.

"I don't fucking know, man!" Brandon said, visibly pissed.

"We need to call the fucking cops, man!"

"No. I'm fucking fine. So don't fucking call the cops."

There was a moment of silence, and everyone exchanged glances.

"Brandon...are you sure you don't know who this Candice is?" The girl asked.

"I don't know, for the last fucking time. Maybe!"

One guy sighed, "Bro, we know you're hiding something so you might as well just tell us."

"I don't know a fucking bitch named Candice."

"I don't get it..." Said the girl, "Why don't you want us to call the cops and bust this guy's ass, then?"

Brandon wiped his bloody mouth, "You're all fucking idiots, and  i'm going home, so get off my ass." He said, and pushed one friend out of the way.
