21: Drug

!!**As i mentioned before, this book is inspired by Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov so my views and opinions about it is the same for this book. This story is NOT a light hearted romance or a happily ever after book. So no matter how romantic you think this book is, there is still a victim. CANDICE (The main character) is the REAL victim in this situation. No matter how many evil things she seems to be doing in the book, she is still considered a minor/child and IS THE VICTIM. And just because Bryan (Sitter) seems to be in love with Candice, it still does NOT make it okay and it is still WRONG. Even if Candice seems to be throwing herself at him it should be HIS responsibility as an ADULT to say no.This book is not condoning this kind of relationship and is purely a work of FICTION. Just putting it out there since i didn't mention it before (well now i did since i edited it) **!!

Lana Del Rey's new song! above ^^ fits with chapter, ( this is why i love LDR so f*cking much <33)

21: Drug

'Anger is an acid that can do more harm to the vessel in which it is stored than to anything on which it is poured'
-Mark Twain

"Candice, are we ever going to talk?" Her father asked, at the dinner table.

Candice sighed, irritated, dropping her shoulders. "Talk about what? How you're denying that you don't care about this family, and only agreed for me to stay here with you to make yourself look like the good guy?"

"Candice, you know that's not true-"

"-And you're still denying it to not bruise your ego." She snapped, putting her fork down.

"See, this is why we can't have a normal conversation you just get angry for no reason." Her father said, scowling at her.

"Because you're acting like you did nothing wrong! I wore the Dallas Cowboys t-shirt that we always used to wear when we go to the games the day you picked me up, and you didn't even care to notice!"

"Candice- you always used to wear that shirt!  Stop being so childish-"

"That was the first time in a year that i wore it." She said, gritting her teeth. "And i did it because i thought it would make you happy. You said I've changed, but what about you? Ever since you left you don't even bother to call that much! I have tried so hard to get mother to try and talk to you into letting me stay with you, or at least talk to you! And you just shut me out for no god damned reason! It never used to be like that! If feeling hurt because the people closest to me are neglecting me is considered childish to you, well then you're not my dad. And i want nothing to do with you as you obviously want nothing to do with me. Are we done with our talk, now?"

"Hey." A girl said said, closing her locker and nodding towards the school entrance, "Check it out."

A few people turned round, watching Salvatore walking, arm around Candice who was twirling a lollipop in her mouth.

Mark caught sight of them and locked eyes with Candice, but Candice looked away, turning around to meet up with Salvatore's friends by the water fountain.

Jane joined him, as they both soundlessly watched Candice giggling and talking to her new gang. Mark looked away, a solemn expression on his face. Jane sighed, a guilty expression pained on her face. "You'll find someone else."

"Yeah- Jane. thanks but that doesn't help much." Mark replied coldly, slamming his locker shut.

Jane bit her lip, "I'm sorry for being such a bitch to you...the other day."

"First time you actually admitted that you're a bitch." Mark said.

"Look- i just say stuff...i don't think about who i'm hurting. But i am really sorry."

Mark studied her face, his eyes narrowed, then sighed, dropping his shoulders, and his facial features becoming softer. "It's okay. I never had a chance with her anyway. I mean, look at me-"

"-Any girl would be lucky to have you." Jane blurted out, before she had time to swallow her words back. She looked away from him and turned to Candice, trying to change the subject. "W-Well, what are the odds? The new girl partying with a bunch of seniors. And Salvatore? I didn't see it coming one bit."

"Being beautiful has it's advantages."Mark said, with a faraway look in his eyes.

Jane plastered on a fake smile, "You think she's beautiful? Look at you, acting all romantic."

Candice and Salvatore were lying on the football field, staring at the deep orange sky as the sun was about to fall below the horizon.

Salvatore had a blunt hanging from his lips, and Candice was sucking on a strawberry lollipop.

Candice giggled, and rested her head in her hands, looking down an Salvatore. "We are gonna get in a shitload of trouble for this."

"No one's out here after school except for football practice..." Salvatore said, lazily.

Candice laughed at his expression, "You're so stoned." She said, taking out the lollipop in her mouth, then lifting his shirt, kissing his abs slowly and teasingly, she was on top of him, now. Taking his blunt out of his mouth and kissing his lips. She squealed when she rolled on the floor and Salvatore was on top of her now, kissing her neck hungrily, Candice breathing turned heavy, as she wrapped her arms around Salvatore, as he continued to kiss her neck. Candice gulped, "Salvatore." She whispered, as he stopped and looked down at her. She looked up at him, with her cartoon eyes, "I need you to do something for me." She spoke, softly.

-

Candice smiled up at the butler who was serving diner to her father and her,she was batting her eyelashes at him. "Thanks Gerald." She said, sweetly. He smiled at her and walked away.

"I could get used to this northern lifestyle. Apart from some assholes here it's actually not that bad."

Her dad sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose. "Candice, just stop. You've been passive and aggressive towards me for two weeks, now."

"Have i? I think I've been perfectly normal."

"Look, i'm sorry i slapped you, okay? You were just...getting on my nerves. I'm was just trying to make things better and-"

"Of course...you always make it seem as if you're trying to do the right thing...mum was right about you."

Her dad slammed his fist on the table, "Your mother said she didn't want anything to do with you. Now i know why." He snapped.

Candice froze, and looked up at her father unbelievably, tears welling up in her eyes. "Why would you tell that? To hurt your own daughter on purpose?" She scoffed, "You're both lousy parents." She said, then grabbed her plate of food, and slammed it across the room, screaming, full of rage. She put both hands on the table, and looked into her father's furious eyes. "I hate you both." She said, "Do you hear me?"

"Gerald, clean this up." Her father said to the butler, calmly, then turned to Candice. "At this rate I've given up, i hope that one day you'll wake up and realize that you can't play the victim any longer."

Candice wiped her wet cheeks and shook her head. "I can't wait till next week so that i'll get out of this dump."

-

"Hey...Candice."

"Oh- hey! Hey-hi." Candice said, to Mark, who was smiling sheepishly at her. "How are you? It feels like forever since we spoke!" She said, trying to sound as enthusiastic as possible.

"Yeah, it has been a while..." Mark said awkwardly. "Nice to see you're having fun with your new...crowd...I never thought Salvatore would be your kinda guy..."

Candice looked away, "It's not like that..." She mumbled.

"No- sorry. I didn't mean it in a bitter way...-"

"-Have you spoken to Jane yet?" Candice changed the subject.

"She apologized to me...but i don't know...she never really means it..."

"Trust me...just talk to her. I promise you she'll change. She really cares about you."

Mark gave her a confused look.

"Trust me." Candice said, again.

Salvatore walked over to her, then eyed Mark up and down. He raised one eyebrow then looked away, grabbing Candice by the waist and kissing her, Candice smiled, and kissing him back, her back to the lockers, as people whistled.

Mark rolled his eyes and walked away angrily, book in hand.

"I talked to a friend...he said as soon as they get shipped he'll call me." Salvatore whispered, after they pulled away.

Candice smiled up at him, "You're the best." She said, and kissed his lips again.

Salvatore smirked down at her and grabbed her by the hand. "How about we get outta here?" He suggested.

"You seriously want me to skip school with you?" Candice asked.

Salvatore shrugged, "Why not?"

Candice silently laughed, but let him pulled her hand. "You're a really bad influence on me."
