Chapter 11

coddiwomple

(v.) to travel in a purposeful manner towards a vague destination

The next day Hiccup and you decided to explore some new places and on the way both of you nattered about literally anything that crossed your minds, that was until from the corner of your eye something in the sea caught your attention. You glanced down and saw that it was just some ships, ships with strange sail's that you had never seen before.

"Hey Hiccup, look." you called out to him and when he turned around you motioned your arm towards the ships below. Hiccup looked down and then back at you.

"They're just sailing boats (Y/N), what's so weird about that?" He questioned, slightly confused to what you found strange about them. You looked at the ship's one more time, squinting your eyes and scanning it thoroughly before realizing something.

"Oh I don't know? Maybe the fact they're all deserted?" You spoke, sarcasm dripping with each word you said. Hiccup looked back down again and his eyebrows arched to the sky. Before he could say anything you flew pass him suggesting you should check it out.

Hiccup followed and landed just as you got off Crystal. Both of you examined the place and noticed that, for some reason, they have a lot of cages who are made from metal you had never seen before. The carving on the metal unfamiliar to them too.

"Oh! Let's see what's under deck!" you yelled and ran to the hatchway. Before you opened it, out of nowhere a rope was binded on you ankle and you were instantly dragged to the edge of the ship. Your eyes widened, everything moved so fast and in a split second fear washed over you,.

"Crystal! Single spine shot!" you screamed and Crystal immediately did what she was told, she fired out a spine from her tail and accurately hit the rope. If she hadn't react fast you would've been in the bottom of the sea in seconds.

"(Y/N)! Oh my Thor, what happened?!" Hiccup ran to you, he stooped down and offered his hand for help.

"Got caught in a trap, I guess? I mean who puts traps on boats?" you awkwardly laughed and clasped his arm, Hiccup pulled you up and in an instant you were on your feet.

"There has to be something in there that they don't want people to find." Hiccup assumed, gesturing at hatchway with his eyes and you just agreed. Crystal nudged your sides and you patted her head, thanking her for saving your life.

"Let's check it out!" you exclaimed suddenly and ran to the doors ready to go inside but Hiccup grabbed your wrist. You jumped from the sudden touch and turned your head to face him.

"What?" you asked with confusion spread on your face.

"I'm going first." Hiccup ordered with the most serious face you had ever seen. Your shoulders slumped and the corners of your lips fell into a thin line, half of you was happy that he cared that much to protect you if any traps emerged but half of you wanted to be the first one to look inside the ship.

"Fine." you rolled your eyes and let Hiccup pass you. Crystal wanted to go inside too but you stopped her, telling her to wait for you outside. You looked down at Hiccup while he was going down the stairs. As soon as he stepped on the floor a metal trap springed from the planks and trapped Hiccup's metallic foot. Both of you gasped and Toothless just growled.

"One of the benefits of a metal leg, I suppose." Hiccup stated and took the trap off his foot. He stepped away so you can come down as well. In that moment you didn't knew how to feel so you let the shock run over your emotions.

"I can't explain how much I'm thankful that I didn't go in first." you said sincerely while climbing down. Toothless was the last one to come inside, he jumped down and followed Hiccup and you. After walking for some more you ended in a room full of cages.

Toothless abruptly stopped walking and walked closer to the cage, he let out a series of whimpers which made Hiccup and you looked at each other, both puzzled as to what made Toothless react this way. When you looked closer, your blood went cold. The cage was filled with bones and when you looked around you noticed that every cage contained dragon bones in them.

"I'm sorry you had to see this bud." Hiccup knelt down and hugged his dragon.

"Whoever commanded this ship certainly wasn't fond of dragons..." you really wanted to find out who did this but the chances were low because the ship seemed to not be from the archipelago.

"We should get out of here." Hiccup suggested and you nodded, in the seconds Hiccup was standing up your gaze fell on the deck that had a plank slightly sticking out, your eyes widened when you realized it was another booby-trap. But it was too late to warn him because Hiccup stepped on it which made the crossbows fire arrows at both of you.

Toothless reacted promptly and covered Hiccup and you deflecting the arrows away. Right away more arrows flew past you missing you by an inch, all of you ran towards the end of the hall and stopped in front of an ornate door.

"Commander's quarters." Hiccup breathed out "Okay so here's the plan." he spoke but stopped when Toothless blasted the door. "I like yours better!" Hiccup admitted with a cheesy grin. Toothless gurgled in response.

All three of you walked in the room. The room had dragon heads hanging here and there and a table that was standing in the middle of the room. You saw a mysterious looking object placed on the table so you went to take it.

"Ew." you exclaimed in disgust whilst throwing away a hand bone that was rested on the cylinder object.

"Careful." Hiccup warned you with a worried face, you nodded in response and slowly grasped the object, after lifting it up you looked around for any booby traps and after nothing happened, Hiccup and you sighed in relief but that changed when all of the sudden a giant axe whacked the wooden table.

"Run!" you yelped and jumped back. All of you spun around and darted outside of the room as quickly as you could. As the three of you ran towards the exit, long sharp spikes surfaced out of nowhere and thankfully all of you passed that obstacle without any injury. Arrows flew out of every direction whilst running, but Hiccup and you dodged half and Toothless shielded you from other half.

When you came to the stairs all of you quickly climbed up escaping the hell hole. Hiccup and you were heavy breathing by now. Your faces red from the running and a few drops of sweat rolled down your faces. Hiccup was resting down his arms on his knees and you had already sat down and examining the object in your hand.

"This must be really important for someone to want to protect it that much." you exhaled after finally stabilizing your breathing. Hiccup sat down next to you and you passed the object to him before he even asked. He tried to figure what it does so he twisted and turned, but that resulted in the object to fire a pointy dart in your direction.

"Woah!" you yelped while swiftly and speedily backed away. As you were dodging it you saw the dart pass in front of your nose. Hiccup's eyebrows rose up like he had not expected that to happen. You turned and glared at him, you noticed Hiccup was just as shocked as you were with his eyes widened and his mouth opened slightly.

"Sorry!" Hiccup beamed hurriedly ,his face turned from shock to an apologetic visage.

"It's okay, don't worry." you reassured him as you patted his shoulder. Hiccup sighed in relief and his smile came back. He continued tangling the gadget and you stared at Crystal and Toothless who were chasing each other. Toothless took a sharp turn and made Crystal smash into a cage. You snickered at Crystal who was now laying next to the cage.

The image of Crystal slamming into the cage popped again and you suppressed the giggles. You were looking past Hiccup and didn't realize he had turned around and was staring at you with a puzzled expression. Before Hiccup had time to ask what was so funny, you looked at him and spoke.

"It's getting dark, we should get going."

"Sure." Hiccup agreed and stood up, you did as well. Both of you sat in your saddle's and flew away. The sun had slowly faded behind the horizon and by the time you and Hiccup arrived at the Dragon's Edge the last rays of the sun disappeared. The darkness in the sky had already taken place, it was freckled with few stars and more to appear.

Hiccup got off Toothless and patted his head. Toothless roared happily and nudged his head onto Hiccup's side who only laughed and stroked Toothless near his chin making him fall on the ground with a pleased face. You giggled at them, feeling relieved to find out you weren't the only one goofing around with Crystal.

Your giggle grabbed Hiccup's attention because he turned around and flashed you a smile. While walking towards him, Crystal ran pass you and slapped Toothless with her wing, she then immediately ran down the docks away and Toothless ran after her. Thankfully Hiccup took the cylindrical object with him otherwise both of you would be chasing after the dragons too.

"Let's head inside." Hiccup suggested and walked to the clubhouse, you nodded and followed him. Even though it wasn't cold, the chilly breeze made you appreciate the warmth of the burning fireplace when you stepped inside. But your face washed blank with confusion when you realized that nobody was inside, usually there was at least two people yet now there was no one.

"I guess everyone went to sleep early." Hiccup joked and you laughed in response. But till then you didn't realize the sleepiness that overwhelmed you. Your loud yawn made Hiccup snap his head at you and once he did that you instantly stopped yawning.

"Aw, someone's sleepy." Hiccup teased and placed a kiss on your forehead, he then wrapped his arms around you and pulled you closer. After denying his teasing he only continued to do it even more to the point where you let out out and exasperated sigh and pulled away from his embrace.

"I wanna sleep, but I also want to know what that cylinder thing is." You admitted and gestured at the object placed on the fireplace.

"Tell you what, tomorrow both of us will examine it together, yeah?" Hiccup's suggestion made you sent a glare because you knew him all too well and you knew that he won't wait until tomorrow to see what the object is.

"Pinkie promise?" You held out your finger and watched how Hiccup's face turned to an unsure one, he looked away and let out a sheepish laugh. You shook your head slightly and then placed a kiss on his cheek.

"Just don't stay up all night, okay?"

"Promise."

-----

The next morning the sun's rays shined brightly through the window and directly onto you. A sigh escaped your lips after some minutes of tossing around and still not able to fall asleep, you decided it was time to start the day so you pushed the covers away and got up.

Crystal's roar took you by surprise and it made you jump because you did not see her, she must've found your reaction funny because she let out gurgles that resembled laugh and that made you glare daggers at your dragon.

"I'm going to get you now!" You exclaimed playfully and began chasing Crystal, she yelped and dashed away towards the door. When both of you were out and running, she turned around and gave you her signature gummy smile, in response you flashed her a joyous grin and ran faster.

Both of you stopped dead in your tracks when you heard your name being called out, you snapped your head at the source of the sound and saw Fishlegs waving at you from the clubhouse. You still kept your grin when you waved back and then he gestured you to come there, without a second doubt you rushed over and heard your dragon stomping behind you as well.

When you walked inside the clubhouse everything was dimmed except for the fireplace and the cylinder object that you found yesterday which was flashing out some sort of light. Your eyes darted to the wall and they widened once you saw the small drawings and writings that were illuminated from the object.

"Oh my gods..." You trailed off, suddenly lost in words.

"I know right!" Hiccup's excited yell made you glance at him and quietly gasp at his state. His auburn hair was sticking out in every direction and there were dark circles under his bloodshot eyes and you could almost mistake him as a zombie.

"Hiccup!" You exclaimed, your voice held a tinge of worry as you walked to him. In a second you cupped his face and examined it closer, now noticing that his eyes were dropping from being laden with sleep.

"I told you to sleep, doofus." Hiccup only bobbed his head at your scolding, you began leaning forward but then somebody cleared their throat and it wasn't Hiccup.

"Uh, guys?" Your head snapped back at Fishlegs and it made your eyes widen because for a moment you forgot about his presence and almost kissed Hiccup in front of him. Fishlegs had his eyes squinted in a suspicious look and you couldn't help the crimson red blush spreading on your cheeks.

"Anyways, I'll be going now." Fishlegs quickly dropped the theme and walked away with Meatlug, "Do you realize how many new islands there are on the map? And think of all the new dragons we might encounter! I'm so excited girl!" Fishlegs squeals with glee were the last thing you heard before he closed the door.

Few days later

A week has passed since you found the mysterious object, that you now call the Dragon's eye, which made you and the gang go to countless new expeditions to numerous new islands that you found on the object. Along with the book of dragons you filled your own journal with the new information's and your hopes of finding something about Nightfuries and Stealthstrikes went downhill because there was still nothing mentioned about them.

"Woo-hoo!" You heard Astrid's yell while the two of you were gliding side to side, it was early morning and the sun has just risen up from the horizon. Astrid had told you about her morning flights with Stormfly and you didn't knew why she had so much fun waking up in the morning until now.

"This is so exciting!" you drawled enthusiastically while Crystal and Stormfly flew vertically in the same time, your body began to drift away from the saddle so you clutched your hands on it tightly. Before they hit the ground, Crystal and Stormfly expanded their wings and slowed down their flight.

"(Y/N), watch this!" Once you heard your name you turned around and saw Astrid jump away from Stormfly and grab onto some vines that were hanging from the trees. You watch in amazement as she continued grabbing other strings flawlessly. In a clearing, she jumped up and swiftly landed on Stormfly's saddle.

"That was amazing!" You shouted delightfully and applauded her, to which she thanked you. Some minutes later both of you decided it would be a good idea to rest so you landed near the water and sat down on the rocks nearby. The dragons eagerly drank from the water and grabbed some fish along the way, they then came next to you and Astrid and rested peacefully.

"So, (Y/N), you and Hiccup are leaving away together quite a lot these days." Astrid stated and it made you sigh internally though you only smiled at her comment and ignored the increased heartbeat.

"Oh well we explore a lot, so yeah." You replied calmly and expected her to drop the theme, but instead her lips formed a devilish smirk and she proceeded to ask even more questions.

"Are you sure there's nothing else going on?" Astrid questioned playfully and nudged your arm, her hit was strong and it made you rub the place she hit you in a way too sooth the pain.

"Positive." You bluntly replied, but still kept your smile.

"Come on, (Y/N), I see the way you both look at each other." Astrid said

"And how may that be?" You asked with a challenging look on your face with one eyebrow risen up and lips formed into an lopsided grin.

"You stare at each other like you're in love."

Astrid's comment made you think if its that obvious then the other's must've noticed it as well, you wondered if what she said was correct and that you look at Hiccup differently than the other's yet you couldn't tell the difference.

"And that's where you're wrong." You responded shortly, Astrid parted her lips to say something but the flying Terrible Terrors grabbed both of your attention. Astrid and you both glanced at each other and without uttering a single word you knew that you thought the same so you quickly ran to Crystal and mounted up.

In a second you were up in the air and flying to the location the dragons ran away from, all the way to there you thought it was a dragon scaring off the Terrible Terrors and there was also a hint of hope that it might be a new dragon species. But your expectations were wrong because when you arrived at the scene you were greeted with many ships.

"I've never seen those colours before." Astrid spoke while squinting her eyes to get a better look, you did as well and then bells started ringing once you recognized the insignia on the flag.

"Dragon hunters."

"What?" Astrid asked, her eyebrows were scrunched up in confusion.

"You see those cages? We found a couple of them in the boat we found the Dragon eye and the crest on the flags is the same." You replied coldly, a sudden rage overflow through your veins because of these people's purpose, "Why do they still hunt dragons, darn it." You muttered under your breath and watched as the poor dragons helplessly try to escape from the cages.

"Let's get a better look." Astrid suggested and you nodded, both of you got off your saddles and walked down with your dragons following closely behind. You walked carefully not wanting to make any crunching noise because of the sand below and hid behind some giant boulders.

Astrid and you watched a man saying something to a Monsterous Nightmare and then getting his head shoved onto the cage by a bald man. They were talking something afterwards yet you couldn't understand what it was, the bald man was about to turn around so you and Astrid quickly hid behind the rocks and hoped that the man hadn't noticed.

"Grab that Nadder!" A gruff voice spoke after some seconds and it made you share a horrified look with Astrid. For the first time you saw the fear rush on her face and she didn't hide it, she got on her saddle and you did as well.

With a nod both of you flew up and witnessed the men stare in shock, the bald guy instructed archers to shoot and it made panic rush inside, Crystal flew away towards the sea far away from the men and you saw the arrows fly pass both of you, from behind you heard Stormfly strike with her spine shots down at the ground below.

"Stormfly!" You heard Astrid scream behind you so you snapped your head back at her and watched in terror as her dragon tried to stay in air, after closer examination you saw the green arrow struck in her belly and wondered why it made Stormfly react that way. While trying to stabilize her dragon Astrid got thrown away and landed in the water below, Stormfly was binded with rope and pulled in one of the ships.

You were far from it, but apparently not far from another ship which was lurking behind because Crystal began to shake uncontrollably and in a second you were up in air and falling down, after the sharp impact in the water you felt the burning sensations throughout your body but that all rushed away when just for a split second you made eye-contact with Crystal.

A rush of uneasiness flooded your mind and it wiped away any other thought that might've occurred. You found yourself swimming after the ship which was for once faster than you can ever imagine, it left you feeling powerlessly like before and once again you couldn't help your dragon, only watch it get taken away from you.

And it felt like an eternity while you were struggling to stay afloat, by the time you saw the Dragon Hunter's ship leave, you were already too far from to shore, barely even seeing it. After trying to call out Astrid multiple times with no success, you dropped the effort and tried to swim to the island that was miles and miles away.

The dreary and drab sky only worsened with each minute passed, waves began to move in an erratic form and it made your head spin even more. The rain you once adored became your worse nightmare when it came pouring down in small droplets, but when you heard the crackling noise of the thunder hit the water behind, you knew that you must reach shore as soon as possible or you might be the lighting's next target.

After feebly swimming forward a sudden wave lunged over you and sent you underwater without any warning. Without having the time to take a breath your mouth was instantly filled with the salty water, leaving a stinging sensation down your throat. You somehow managed to rise up and inhale rapidly, your arms and legs began hurting and aching for rest yet you still forced yourself to continue swimming.

With a one last wave you were down in the water again, even after you rose up another set of waves pushed you down even further into the deep sea below. But this time you did not try to get up, you couldn't fight off the dark water no matter what you did so you relaxed all of your muscles and descended freely.

It's over

-----

"(Y/N)." A voice called out yet you couldn't process who it belonged to, it seemed so familiar yet so distant, silence loomed over for a while and you took a look at your surroundings, everything was pure white like freshly cleaned blankets and there was nothing else than that.

"(Y/N)!" The voice called out more sternly, suddenly the scenery was changed to your mother waving in front of you with her eyebrows furrowed down and a big frown plastered onto her face. The person you had not seen in years was standing in front of you as mad as ever.

"M-Mom?!" You choked out, questions began rushing in wondering where you are, how could this be possible, even to the lengths of thinking that you might be dead. None of it made sense and even after trying to find a rational explanation of this situation, nothing added up.

"You're such a weak imbecile, (Y/N), and because of that your dragon is going to die." Your mother spoke, her words dripping with venom as her frown enlarged into a disappointed scowl. Your mother's words left a painful knot into your stomach and you began to ponder why this was happening, is it really happening or its just your mind and the more you thought the quickly the scenery's changed.

Alvin was now standing above muzzled Crystal, and it seemed like the day he attacked was repeating once again. Everything looked the same expect there was nobody around other than the three of you, after trying to move forward you realized something was preventing you yet you couldn't tell what and why.

Alvin swung his axe above your dragon's head, he then glanced at you with a familiar glint in his eyes and his lips curved into a twisted grin. But everything started spinning once he said the words you never wanted him to say.

"Now I can finally finish my plan, so enjoy the view pathetic little (Y/N)."

-----

"Crystal!" You screamed with panic laced into your voice, sweat was drenching from your forehead and slowly slid down onto your cheeks. Your heart was pounding hard against your chest and you felt as if it was going to escape anytime soon, the dream felt so real it made your blood turn cold in a second.

"(Y/N)!" Panicked voices ringed in the otherwise quiet room and it took you seconds to process what was happening, in the midst of waking up you had gotten up and were now met by worried faces from your Hiccup and Snotlout standing around your bed.

"Crystal! We have to save Crystal!" You fretted, suddenly feeling light-headed after getting up too quickly, you swayed back for a second but someone grabbed your arms and pulled you back onto your feet. Once you looked up your eyes met Hiccup's emerald green ones, they gleamed with concern while he spoke.

"You can't do this (Y/N), you have to rest." He said with a tint of worry in his tone, you knew he was only caring, but the thought of the Dragon Hunter's hurting your dragon made you shook your head in disagreement.

"I won't rest until I know my dragon is safe." You replied, determination poured out of your words, you wriggled off and headed straight to the exit while hearing them murmuring behind you. It didn't matter because you were heading to the beach whether they are joining or not.

"Hey babe, you can ride with me." Snotlout spoke while he dashed in front of you and leaned on the doorway. You rolled your eyes at his offer and the way he spoke in a flirty manner, you could just imagine how Hiccup must've felt when Snotlout said 'babe' so you decided to sneak a glance at him and sure enough Hiccup was glaring daggers at Snotlout.

"I'd rather walk." You responded and pushed away but then a rush of realization made you gasp loudly and spin around, meeting the confused stares from Hiccup and Snotlout. "Did you find Astrid?! She was with me too!"

"Astrid's fine, (Y/N). She's with Fishlegs and the twins." After hearing Snotlout's replay you sighed in relief, they explained that she was in a better shape than you and that she recovered rather quickly so that's why they are on the beach the Dragon Hunter's came and looking for clues. Without hesitation all three bolted straight towards it, upon arriving you were met with saddened faces from the rest of the gang.

"There has to be something, anything!" Astrid yelled with frustration, her face was contorted with the venomous outburst. She hurled away a barrel that was in her way and clenched her hands in tight fists, it was making you even sadder that both of you were desperate to find any clue. And as if the gods had heard your prayers, Snotlout's sudden holler made everyone's head snap at his direction, once you caught a glimpse of him you saw that he was sitting on the ground and gripping his leg while murmuring some 'ow's'.

Something green in his foot grasped your attention and you wanted to ask Snotlout to take it off but Astrid had already rushed in and took it off making Snotlout yelp again. You walked to her just as she began to inspect it, her bright blue eyes squinted meanly.

"Stormfly was hit by one of these right before she lost control and fell down." She spoke venomously, her hard staring eyes were focused into the ground below as if she was remembering the past events.

"Dragon Hunter's arrow." You replied with clipped tone.

Astrid passed the quiver to Fishlegs who took the examination to the next level when he began to sniff and lick the object. After that he clued you in saying that it was dragon root which can shut down any dragon's senses and that thought terrified you, how one single quiver can make dragons completely out of control.

"How are we going to find them? We have no idea where they're going..." Astrid questioned and for once you heard the hopelessness in her voice. You looked around and saw everyone's face drop, nobody dared to say anything and just for a split second you thought it was over and that you might never find Crystal. But then a simple idea came into your mind and changed everything.

"We don't know where they're going, but we do know where they've been." You replied and it made everyone look up with puzzled looks on their faces, you internally groaned when you saw that Hiccup didn't catch what you meant. So after clarifying that you should check the ship you found the dragon eye all of their frowns were lifted up in a flash and you could see the hint hope in Astrid's eyes.

-----

"There's nothing here!" You screamed in frustration. Upon arriving Fishlegs instructed everyone to find anything such as maps, coordinates or hidden compartments and while half of the gang was busy fining those above, Hiccup, you and Astrid were below deck.

"Just keep looking, we'll find something. Try to stay positive." Hiccup's soothing voice rang through the room, but it wasn't enough to calm you down, fear was rapidly growing with each time you found nothing around and thoughts of never finding Crystal clogged your mind.

"Hiccup, we're trying, but you didn't see the man. He actually enjoys caging dragons." Anger was evident in Astrid's voice, "And he has my dragon." She screamed, in the process of swinging her axe she hit a ornate shield that was hung on the wall. After we calmed her down, Astrid took out her axe and everyone went dead silent once a wooden circle began rolling down the floor, all the time it slowly rolled you eyed it with curiosity and when it reached your feet you bent down and took it in your hands.

"Dragon eye lens." Hiccup said and you glanced at him with your eyebrows furrowed, he continued to clarify that the object is needed in order the Dragon eye to show the maps. Everything around you started to feel ten times brighter as if a golden ball of happiness was passed to you, hope overwhelmed you to this point and it made you sure that finding Crystal was going to be possible after all.

"I'll go get the others." Astrid chirped in and bolted outside. Your (E/C) eyes locked with Hiccup's green ones and your smile grew in a joyous grin, in a second you threw yourself onto Hiccup and hugged him tightly.

"We're going to find them, Hiccup!" You yelled cheerfully in his ear which made him back away his head, yet still hold you.

"I've been saying that for the past couple hours, but okay." Hiccup said and even though you weren't facing him you felt him rise his lips in a playful smirk. Your nose absorbed his scent and it felt like you were engulfed in a rose-petal embrace, but that didn't last long because soon both of you heard the gang's thrumming steps and quickly backed away from each other.

-----

"Well none of our dragons work with this new dragon eye lens." Hiccup said lowering the Dragon eye from Toothless' mouth. As each dragon passed your hope was slowly fading away and now when the last dragon didn't work it all crashed down for you, there are so many other dragons yet so little time and catching said dragons would be harder than it sounds.

That is, until you glanced at the shield again. Before, you didn't notice the specific dragon that was right before your eyes, but now you did and everything got better again.

"Changewing's." You murmured, everyone turned to face you with puzzled faces and before they got the chance to ask what you said, you spoke again. "See that shield? Doesn't it look like a Changewing stuck in a cave? See? Those are the claws and those are the eyes." You said gesturing at the specific points of the object. When the gang noticed it as well all of their faces washed blank for a second but then in a second they were lifted up in a wide grin.

"(Y/N)! You're a genius!" Hiccup's voice boomed with happiness and it made your stomach flutter with happiness, his small compliment made the corners of your lips curve in a small smile and you resisted all the urge to run at him and hug him in that instant.

-----

After an uneventful flying to Changewing island everyone all of you settled down and began contemplating a plan on somehow catching a dragon that blended perfectly with its surroundings. All the time you were talking, Tuffnut was busy wiping dirt on his face and adding leaves into his hair and when he finally approached all of you he was met with everyone's questioning looks.

"In order to find a Changewing, you must become a Changewing!" Was all he said before he proceeded to jump from a cliff and scream out the names of the things he fell on in the process. Everyone noticeably winced with each of Tuffnut's cry of pain, but then heard him hit the end and say 'They will never see me coming.' so you presumed he was alright and continued plotting the plan.

"Okay so, since every dragon needs to drink water, I say we wait by the river and catch a Changewing while it's drinking?" Fishlegs spoke glancing at everyone individually, after clarifying the way of trapping the dragon everyone went into opposite sides and you ended up with Snotlout and Hookfang.

"How do we know if a Changewing isn't standing right there? Or there?" Snotlout asked, clearly irritated from all the waiting. "Oh and did I mention this was a terrible idea?!" He exclaimed quite loudly and you were sure that if there were any Changewings nearby they surely would have fled by now because of his high tone. Snotlout crossed his arms tightly across his chest and puffed his cheeks, you wanted to hit the back of his head but Hookfang already did that and hit Snotlout with a ball of fire.

That turned out to be a bad idea because the ball of fire fell on the bushes in front of you and it was slowly engulfed it into flames, panic rushed into Hookfang's eyes and he tried to blow it away with air but forgot that he breaths out fire and now the bush was massively spreading fire. Before you could react, Snotlout had already taken the bush and thrown it into the river. He was now squinting meanly at Hookfang who seemed unfazed by Snotlouts anger and it made you chuckle quietly because you had always found their friendship very hilarious.

Out out nowhere, a Changewing dragon began to speedily approach the water by carefully blending with rocks and trees. When it decided that the coast is clear it began to drink and it gave you enough time to glance at the others who were on the opposite side, with a quick nod all of you slowly walked to the dragon with caution.

Suddenly Tuffnut popped in front of everyone and greeted you with his normal cheerful tone, in response everyone groaned, thinking that it was our first and only chance of getting a Changewing dragon. But you were soon proved wrong when you saw that the dragon couldn't fly up and after closer examination all of you saw that it was tied up to a tree.

"Like I said, "See the Changewing, be the Changewing."" Tuffnut said, emphasizing the fact that he was quoting himself from earler, it left everyone stare in amazement for a few seconds before the dragon noticed all of you and spat out green acid in your direction. Thankfully, everyone was quick enough to dodge it, except Snotlout, and because of that he had dripping acid on his helmet.

He is now trying to hold still while Fishlegs was inspecting the map illuminating from the Dragon eye.

"This doesn't help, we've seen this map before." Fishlegs said and turned around, his face was knotted a bit with his eyebrows furrowed.

"It must be a hunter port and its the closest to the beach where Crystal and Stormfly were captured, odds are, that's where they're headed." Hiccup was quick to realize the plan and you admired his speed, how he can always think straight in every dangerous situation, it made you appreciate him even more.

"And after that who knows where they're headed." you added, the thought of missing the Dragon Hunters in the port and then never seeing Crystal again made you close your eyes tightly in hope to erase that thinking away. When you opened them you were met with Hiccup's concerned green ones and you flashed him a convincing smile, that only left him biting his bottom lip even more.

"Then let's hurry, we don't have much time." Astrid replied.

"Yes, please, let's hurry." Snotlout said throwing his helmet away.

"But how are we going to get avoid being shot with those dragon root arrows?" Fishleg's face twisted into an expression of worry.

"Funny you should ask Fishlegs, for my plan to work someone has to get shot." Hiccup replied and Fishlegs let out a fearful sound because he already knew Hiccup meant him.

"Yeah! Look's like we're up!"Tuffnut yelled, he was not paying attention to the conversation before but instantly agreed to be the one get shot, even though it wasn't meant for him. "Cool!" Ruffnut joined in and highfived with her brother. You and Astrid simply shook your head with a lopsided smile on your faces, after a simple planing of attack all of you mounted up and flew to your planned destination.

You were flying with Hiccup and Toothless, but stayed back behind everyone to enjoy your selves together because you seemed to not have enough time lately. Everything was quiet except the passing wind and your loud mind making you think of very disturbing thoughts like how Crystal may be slaughtered or similar.

You tightened your grip onto Hiccups chest and laid your head onto his back, "What if they k-killed her already..." You voiced out your thought and it made Hiccup turn his head abruptly.

"(Y/N), don't. Nothing has happened to Crystal and nothing will." In some other occasion you would believe Hiccup's words, but now you knew that nothing was certain.

"How can you be so sure, Hiccup?" Your voice revealed a mild anger that you didn't knew was present so instead of apologizing you casted your gaze on the water below and hoped your rise of tone hadn't hurt Hiccup.

"Because, they probably cage dragons to sell them afterwards and do you think that man would miss the opportunity to sell a rare dragon for a lot of money?" Hiccup was still calm as ever and his way of thinking brought some sense in your mind.

"We will save her, (Y/N), I promise."
