"Damien stop, stop" Damien was punching on Tonya

"Shut the fuck up bitch I told you bout talking to that bitch." He was referring to Amanda, Tonya best friend. He caught tonya texting her.

"But taty was hungry. Baby please stop." He picked her up and smacked her. Taty stood in the doorway crying watching her mother get beat on for the second time this week.

He dropped her on the floor before kicking her in her stomach. "Here's a little something for your pain. " he reached in his pocket grabbing a small packet with crack in it. Taty cried harder watching her mother become weak.

Turning around Damien smiled at taty. She balled her fist and started breathing faster. "Wipe those tears babygirl ain't nothing wrong with mommy." He licked his lips at her while grabbing himself."you'll learn one day."

Jumping out of her sleep taty was covered in sweat she started breathing fast, She looked over at her phone and seen it was three o'clock in the morning. Hopping out of bed she grabbed her throw blanket walking out her room.

Going to knock she hesitated. She thought they might find her annoying or too clingy. She didn't wanna seem like a burden. Walking back to her room she heard the door open.

"Taty. You okay what you doing up this late?" She turned around to Janet. "What's wrong baby are you okay." She saw taty had tears in her eyes.

"I ha-had an um nightmare."

"You wanna sleep in here pooh." Taty shook her head."okay let me turn down the heat cause I'm hot." Taty nodded and followed Janet down the stairs."you wanna talk bout it?"

"No maybe later." Janet nodded.

"Okay Pooh let's go back to sleep." The two of them walked up the stairs climbing in the bed with Toni. Taty cuddled under janet.

"Good night mommy." Taty said half sleep. Janet sat there in shock feeling a tear fall from her face. Was taty dreaming or was she for real? Janet questioned. She laid back and silently cried herself to sleep.

Waking up out her slumber janet stretched her body out"mhmm." Rubbing the sleep out of her eye she seen taty and Toni was already up. Walking into the bathroom Janet freshened up before putting on some clothes. She still had what taty said on her mind. Part of her was excited about being called mommy, to her it means she earned taty trust. But other part of her was scared. What if taty was just sleep talking?. Janet took a deep breath before walking downstairs.

"Good morning." Janet said walking down the stairs seeing her wife in the living room watching tv.

"Good morning baby." Toni stood up giving her wife a kiss."you hungry? We were waiting for you to wake up.
I'm gonna order some breakfast."

" yeah thats fine." Toni can see something was bothering Janet.

"What's wrong baby you okay?"

"Where's taty? "

"She's in here sitting room." Janet took a deep breath.

"Last night when taty came in our room. She said "goodnight mommy." And Toni it did something to me. But I don't know if she was for real or just sleep talking. I don't wanna get excited and it's not what I thought." Toni was token back. Janet started to break down. Toni knew she was upset but she didn't think she would be this emotional. Toni honestly didn't know what to do. She let Janet cry in her shoulder while she rubbed her back.

Little did the couple know taty was listening. Taty did mean it. Janet has been more of mom in the past three months than her biological mother had been in 12 years. "Okay I'm fine. I'll go ask taty what she wants so you can order the food." Taty hurried and ran back in her sitting area.

Trying to act normal she sat on her bean bag acting like she was watching the tv. "Good morning taty." Taty turned to the door to see Janet standing there with red puffy eyes you can tell she was crying."we're ordering breakfast. What you want?"

"I want a breakfast sampler with waffle and scrambled eggs." Janet nodded and walked out but taty stopped her."wait ms Janet."

"Yes sweetie."

"I actually did mean it." Taty said quietly. "I did mean it. "

"You meant what?" Janet wanted her to say it.

"That you're my mommy. Well I mean if you want to be I mean I'm sorry if it's too soon" taty rambled.

"No baby don't be sorry. You can call me mommy baby."Janet pulled taty in for a hug and cried even more she was so emotional. Taty cried with her"you're my babydoll okay." She nodded.

"I thought cause you didn't say anything back that it was too soon."

"No baby, I thought you were sleep talking and didn't mean it." They hugged more.

"Baby are ya- what's wrong yall okay." Toni came in.

"Yes we're fine, Mommy and I were just having a conversation." Taty looked up at Janet who was smiling with tears in her eyes.

"Aww. Are you guys ready to order y'all food?" 

"Yes." Toni ordered the food. Soon after the food came and the family sat at the dining table sharing laughs.
"Taty you is shout out " Toni and Janet was laughing hard.

"I'm for real Hawaiian Punch taste like it's ashy." Janet was dying laughing.

"I've never heard that before. That's the perfect way to describe it too."

"So are you ready for our trip in the mountains." Next week was the family cabin trip to Colorado for the holidays.

"Yes. I picked out all my clothes I just have to put them in the suitcase. Oh and I need wrapping paper."

"For what?" Toni asked.

"You guys gifts. "

"Baby you didn't have to get us anything." Janet said.

"Yeah. Tat Christmas is gonna be about you."

"It's fine I want too." She smiled."two more days until schools out for break I'm so excited!"

"They should've just gave y'all this week off too. Y'all only gonna be there for two days." Toni said.

"Ohh so that means I can stay home tomorrow and Tuesday."

"Oh no. We have to do more of your Christmas shopping and we can't leave you home by yourself."

"Fine. Well I'm gonna go watch tv."

Janet pov

After finishing my food I straightened up the kitchen. I was still in awe that taty calls me mom now. "Toni go get the stuff and come on girl." Toni wanted me to wash her hair and re twist it.

Toni came downstairs with the hair products. I grabbed Toni a chair and the wash bowl placing it on the sink.

"Toni get off my ass." Toni kept smacking and rubbing my ass.

"Hush all that shit up." She puckered her lips."kiss me." I gave her a deep kiss while rubbing the shampoo through her hair. "Mhmm" I pecked her lips one last time.

"You're so fine." I said looking at her. She smiled she had the most perfect teeth. "So damn fine."  Of course she smacked my ass.

"Thank you sexy." I pecked her lips. I gave her one last rinse before grabbing a towel.

"You want two strands?" Me and Toni were now in the living room.

"Yeah. I'm sitting on the floor or in a chair."

"On the floor. I don't feel like standing." Janet grabbed a pillow and sat on the floor like she wasn't tall enough.

"Okay you're all done baby." She jumped up and stretched her long body out.

"Thank you baby." She pecked my lips." She looked in the mirror we had in the living room."Ouu we baby I look good." She shook her dreads and did a little dance.

"Yes you do now clean this up please. I'm gonna take me a nap. I don't know why but I am so tired." I moved all the hair products out the way grabbing me a throw blanket, I covered myself before falling asleep.

Taty POV

"Taty you wanna go the mall on Saturday they're opening up an arcade." Sevyn asked. Today was the last day of school before break.

"Sorry I can't I leave Friday."

"Where you going." Savannah asked.

"My family going to the mountains in Colorado for Christmas." They all ooud.

"Y'all got money." Cam said."child all my family doing is going cross town to my auntie house who makes chitterlings."

"Eww you eat them."I asked.

"Hell no. My momma and grandma do."

"I do." Sevyn said. We all looked at her in disgust.

"So let me get this straight you actually eat chitterlings?"

"Yup with some hot sauce." We shook our heads and laughed.

"Hey y'all." Kai and Mason walked in our class.

"What y'all doing in here? Don't y'all have health?"

"Yeah but Ms. McCoy said we can sit in here if we be quiet. Plus yall not doing nothing but watching a movie."Kai sat next to me.

"So taty I have a question. Do you have a boyfriend?"

"No"

"Do you want one?" He smirked and put his arm around me.

"No" I removed his arm.

"You're embarrassing yourself bruh." Mason said.

"You really are. "  cam spoke. He sucked his teeth. "What happened with Brianna?"

"Oh she's crazy. When I broke up with her she called my mom through facebook." We laughed.

"Oh nah she's tripping. " Mason spoke. "Anyway yall wanna play taboo?" He grabbed it from one of the table Ms McCoy had in her class.

"Sure."

"Okay teams. I'm on Savannah team." Mason yelled out.

"And me and taty on teams." Kai said moving closer to me.

"No. Cam you wanna be on my team?" Everybody laughed.

"Yes. Move loverboy." Kai stood up letting cam take his spot.

"Well who I'm supposed to be with? Cause Sevyn mean as hell."

"Boy get your ass over here."

"Excuse me Ms. Jones." Ms McCoy spoke.

"Sorry. Get your butt over here" Kai went to sit next to Sevyn like a little kid that just got in trouble.

"Okay see you guys."  We were standing at our lockers.

"I'm gonna miss y'all." Sevyn said.

"Y'all acting like y'all going away to war." Kai said.

"Shut up, imma miss y'all too." I said hugging each of them. Walking outside i saw Ms Janet car." My rides here. See y'all."

"Hey mommy." I hopped in the front seat since it was just me and her today.

"Hey baby. How was school?"

"It was fun, we didn't do nothing but watch movies and play games."

"Wow sound you like you had some fun. You hungry?"

"Yes can we stop at chic fil A?"

"We can actually cause that is right by the plaza we're going to. I'm taking you to get your nails done." I gasped I've never got my nails done."then after we can go to target."

"Yay. Thank you."

"Ouu mom I like this." We were now in target getting more things for my sitting room. Me and mommy got matching nail colors she even let me get acrylics but a little bit shorter than hers. She said I can get them longer when I get to high school.

"Put it in the cart. Do you want anything else?"

"Mhmm no-oh wait my wrapping paper. How did I forget. That's the whole point of us coming here." We laughed.

Pushing the cart down the seasonal isle I picked up a gold wrapping paper that had silver snowflakes on it."I like this one."

"Me too. It gonna go with the Christmas tree." I placed it in the cart.

"Wait where gonna have a Christmas tree there? "

"Oh course baby. Auntie ki and Auntie Erica already ordered the ornaments to the cabin."

"I'm so excited." Her phone ring.

"It ain't nobody but Toni." She pulled it out her purse."I knew it. "

We walked over to self checkout." Toni get off my phone girl." She laughed and hung up the phone. While my mom scanned I look around the store watching people come in out, I can tell they were doing last minute shopping. Looking back up I spotted a familiar face.

"Amanda." Are my eyes deceiving me?
