Chapter 91: Sid

Mavis' pov

Geten walked into my office without knocking. "We found two bodies last night." I glanced up from my work and raised a brow. He reluctantly bowed before repeating himself and adding a 'boss' at the end.

"Men?" He nodded. I waved my hand in dismissal, looking back down at my paperwork. "That was me, just dispose of them and give their families money as compensation."

"But- what did they do?" I looked back up with slightly furrowed brows. "Was I unclear somewhere or why are you still standing there?"

He opened, then closed his mouth and walked out of the room. He looked agitated, and I noted the way he hesitantly reached out to close my door. I sighed. "Geten."

He looked back surprised when I called him, but let out a slight sigh as if he was relieved. "Yes, Reaper?"

"Why did you guys wait so long to tell me this?" He stepped inside again and closed the door behind himself. The kids are with Toga and Twice since this morning. I left them with the others because it looked like Toga wanted to bond with them. Twice looked so happy but every time Dabi looked his way, Twice acted like he couldn't care less about the kids.

"Because the children were with you and we didn't want them to overhear."

I chuckled slightly. "Don't tell me you guys care about the kids getting traumatized." I stood up from my seat and walked slowly towards the man.

When he did not speak, I reached out to hold his chin and made him look me in the eyes. "Geten, I don't like repeating myself. Whatever the others told you, they are not your superiors anymore. I know Rikiya wouldn't keep something from me." I pulled his face towards me. "Is it Skeptic?"

"Yes. He said it would be best if we trust no one that Hawks brought with him." Ah, that was it. I did tell them to keep an eye on Hawks, so it was only natural for them to be wary of Eri. I let go of his chin and patted him on his cheek. "Tell Skeptic that she is fine, and won't tell anyone what she sees here."

He nodded. "Is there anything else you want to tell me?" Geten shook his head but then pressed his lips in a thin line. "Dabi said he won't train with me. Can't I train with someone else?"

I smiled slightly. "If you cannot train with him in a civil manner, provoke him so he fights with you. Till then, just watch me."

I do need someone like him by my side. It would be better if he sees me as his idol or something like that before the heroes attack this place.

I wanted to check up on the kids and went to our common room, only to find them baking something with Toga and Dabi. Twice was sitting on a stool, covered in flour, his arms crossed over his chest.  They did not notice me when I walked in and silently closed the doors behind me.

"Why am I even supposed to help? I feel ridiculous." Dabi said, trying to roll out some dough with a rolling pin. "You and Mavis always fight! This is to make peace with her." The room smelled after cinnamon and apples. Delicious and perfect for the season. Whatever they are baking, it looked like the kids are having fun.

"And why exactly would I want to have that." The dough under the rolling pin started to stick to it. Dabi grimaced as he pulled the rolling pin up and then let it fall down. "Fuck this shit. Toga this isn't working."

Toga left the kids with the cookie stamps and went to look at Dabi's work. "This isn't fair! Why am I grounded but Dabi can continue! He was the one that left the flour open." Twice said, pointing at the apron wearing man with burned skin. Dabi showed his middle finger and stepped aside to show Toga his dough.

"Kids, did you say Mavis liked cookies filled with apples or apple pie?"

"Cookies filled with apples." Elara said with a big smile on her face. Eri reached out to a bowl and ate some filling without Toga noticing it.

"Then why is your dough like this?"

"Maybe because I don't fucking bake."

Toga started whining while Twice said that he could do a much better job than Dabi. "How can we give this Mavis if it isn't even edible!"

I walked out slowly so that I wouldn't ruin anything for them. "I'm sure she would still like it." Elara added to make Toga feel better.

When I managed to close the door without them noticing, I felt a body behind me. "There you are." I sushed Hawks and nodded down the hall. Both of us started walking without talking at first.

"What is it?"

"Why did you kill these guys yesterday?" I shrugged my shoulders. It feels easy to lie for others because Ahma did this often. Sometimes outside, sometimes underground to our prisoners. It's a wonder she never got caught when killing outside. Most of us don't have tattoos and dress casually so we would never get targeted when someone sees us.

Because of tattoos it is easy to identify someone, and because Ahma has some, it's a far bigger risk to do it outside.

"They were bothering me." He furrowed his brows and turned his head to look at me. "Is that all? Or did they do something to you?" He searched my face for something but I only pressed my lips in a thin line. "It seems you forgot that I'm still the leader of this organization. I can do whatever I want. I don't need a motive."

He looked surprised but kept his mouth shut and turned his head back to look forward. "At least till Tomura comes back." I added, looking outside whole walking. It's nice outside and I feel like going out with the kids today all of a sudden. I did promise them going to the cinema together, so why not today?

"Speak of the devil, where is he? I haven't seen him since like two months."

I used my quirk to sense if someone was somewhere near us, then reached down into one of my pockets and activated a tiny device. This is to get in the way of any electronic device and disturb its' signal. "They have a doctor that worked for All For One since a long time now. He is trying to give All For One's original quirk to Tomura." Hawks stopped in his tracks. He looked petrified, his mouth agape.

"Why didn't you tell me?"

"Relax. We still have time and I'm going to tell the heroes everything in the meeting." He walked up to me and pulled me towards him with both his hands on my shoulders. "Mavis, if this happens, if they succeed in that, you have to be there and fight on our side."

He looked me into my eyes but then pulled his face away when I did not budge. "You will be there, won't you?"

"Hawks."

"Mavis, if you leave, it will be the end for us!"

I patted his hands and removed them slowly off my shoulders. "I will be there when you guys attack this place, but after that I'm moving away." I've been waiting for a long time now. After I heard that K.J is doing human trafficking with kids, I felt like it was partly my fault. I should go sooner than later.

He furrowed his brows and took a step back. "Where will you go?" Even though I did tell him that I want to be friends with him again, I just shrugged my shoulders and kept it to myself. What if the president of the HPSC is backing up K.J? Wouldn't be the first time. Maybe they are one of his costumers and get the kids to do the same thing they did to Hawks or me. "I still have something to do that I left open for so long, and I'm sick of living like this."

"Living like what?"

"As if I'm just a tool for people and being commanded every second to do things I don't give two shits about."

"This isn't just about you, it's about the world! If they win there will be nothing else you can go to."

"Exactly! What did the world give me, Keigo? Hm? I never really had a home to begin with. Everything was taken from me and I plan on taking it back. I'm not a hero. I don't care what happens to others."

"You don't mean that. What about the kids?"

"Eri has Aizawa. He is a good father figure and I'm sure he will be great for her. And Elara will stay with a friend of mine till I'm done with everything." I do believe Akito would be a good guardian for Elara. He can hear her anytime she calls for him and could be there in seconds.

Hawks went through his hair with his hand, then chuckled while looking up. "Aizawa is a hero. What if something happens to him?"

"Then I will take Eri with me." I was sick already of this argument. It's not like I haven't thought of everything. I rolled my eyes and turned around to leave, but Hawks pulled me back.

"And what about Aizawa?"

I turned around to glare at him and we were both just staring at each other while I tried to keep control of my quirk. It feels like it's bubbling inside of me and on the verge of bursting out.

Reluctantly, I reminded him, "They called you that day they accused me of abusing Eri and being a villain." He closed his mouth and looked at me as if I was a wounded and delusional child.

"They locked me up after questioning me. Do you know what they do to you in prison?" He took a step back but I closed up on him. "They made me undress myself, made me bent over and looked inside me to make sure I did not hide something in me. After that I had to live without my quirk. Do you know how that felt?

"Of course you don't, because who would dare rip out your wings. That would be an act against humanity and any morals you guys seem to have. But if it is me it's okay?"

"Mavis, maybe just calm down and we can talk about this without fighting." He raised his brows slightly and held up his hands. That's when I remembered that even if I try to tell him my situation, he would never really understand. For him it's either start over in a good way, or rot in jail. I cannot start over before I kill K.J and I don't ever want to be in jail again. It was humiliating in there.

"Just drop it Hawks." I slowly backed away and made my way to go downstairs. "I'm going out with the kids later, do you want to come with me?"

When I didn't sense him following me, I looked back to see him watching me with a straight face. "Will you tell me what's really going on or just pretend like you don't care about any of us?"

"I really don't care about this shit going on here." I opened my arms and looked at him tiredly. "And I feel like puking when I have to turn around one more time." I really do feel nauseous, but maybe it is because I stuffed the food inside my mouth that tasted bland and dry to me.

I reached out to place my hand on the wall directly besides me and closed my eyes. All of a sudden I felt like my body was heating up and the hall was spinning. "Aizawa-"

"Aizawa this, Aizawa that. Gods, why do you keep mentioning someone I don't really like?"

He sighed slightly, then walked up to me and held out his arm. It took me a second to realize that he was offering me his arm so we could walk down together, and I reached for him reluctantly.

"What movie are we going to watch?"

I gave him a small smile and we started walking down the stairs. "Probably the new Ice Age movie because Eri liked it a lot last time."

"The one with that Megalonix?" I reached down into my pocket and turned off the device. "You mean Sid? He kind of looks like you."

He breathed out a laugh. "I look better than him though."

We reached the end of the stairs and I let go of him, shrugging my shoulders. Many people were down here, and a couple of them bowed when they saw me. Most of them were too focused on their tasks, or just nodded in acknowledgement and walked out my way.

I did tell them that they do not have to bow when they see me, because it was rather annoying having so much attention on me. When I was the consigliere, they only moved aside when I was walking, but besides that I could move as if I was a ghost back then. It felt great.

"I don't know about that, Hawks. But whatever floats your boat."
