Chapter 68: Yamaguchi

In a room where three people were, two of them waited with anticipation for the call to end that their leader was having. It was nerv wrecking to wait so long. For their boss to take his phone away from his ear and click the button that would end the call.

After another minute or so, the black haired male clenched his jaw before ending the call and tossed his phone on his table. It was his office they were in at. A dark painted room with minimal decoration. Before that, it was his father's office who died of a natural cause. Something that only a handful of people could get when they are in a yakuza.

The two people that are with their boss in his office wait impatiently for him to say something. Even though they need to know what their boss, Kazue, is so angry at, they don't ask.

Let the lion cool down first.

"They gave us an ultimatum." Kazue says after some time. Fiddling with his family ring while staring at his phone. "Either join them or face the consequences." One of the two bristles at that. The other one stays calm, acts as if he is. Inside, his inner demon already plans out what to do to them.

The second-in-command, who bristled, asks, "You aren't seriously thinking about this, are you? They killed a handful of your soldiers." His sister would have been one of them. She was leading them, after all. But she stayed in her room because her best friend got attacked and she gave herself the fault. She thought that, maybe, if she stayed with her, it would have had never happened.

And now she isn't even leaving her room when she heard what happened with 5 soldiers that she commanded. She is giving herself the fault for that, too.

Kazue glanced at his second-in-command in thought. Waiting for his right hand to say something. Say his opinion about it. But nothing came. The leader went with a hand through his features of his face. Tired and annoyed, both. The Meta Liberation Army is making problems since over 4 months now.

"Kyoko doesn't even leave her room because of it." Daichi added and Kazue leaned his head back on his chair, looking up at the ceiling. "I don't need someone as the leader of my soldiers if they can't get along with their failure."

The word 'failure' ringed inside Daichi's head and he needed to bite on his tongue to not say something that he might regret afterwards. He needs to remind himself who he is. With who he talks to. Doesn't matter how close they are.

"Jukka," The leader called out for his right hand. Kazue needs to hear something from him. They waited with impatience for the other brown haired male to say something. If the former right hand would have been here, she would have already had a plan for how to destroy these fuckers. She always had a wicked mind. And when it was combined with Kyoko, Daichi's little sister, the Liberation Army would have had no chance.

But Jukka had a mind of his own. It just needs more time to get a plan. "Let's just take the one where we wouldn't end up dead." He said. His long fingers grazing over his lips as he was still calculating something. He and Mavis always were rivals. Well, he saw her as one. Mavis never really cared. Instead, she always made fun of his name and had various nicknames for him. So that's why Jukka always tries his best to prove Kazue that he deserved to be his right hand. His advisor. His protecter.

"And what? Just forget that they killed 5 of us?" Now was one of the many moments they needed Kyoko's or Mavis' mind. Without them, the three men in this room would never come to a conclusion. One of them would want war and revenge for his friends, the other one would want peace, so that no other would lose their life.

And it would be the boss that would have the final say. But now it looks like he doesn't have to say anything. "When do they want to hear what we chose?" Daichi asks Kazue.

"He gave us 3 days. Till then they will stop attacking us or go in our territory."

Daichi walked out of the office, through the long hall that leads to the lounge where most of them would hang around. "Daichi," He turns around reluctantly when he heard the man call his name out. "We should discuss the matter more closely." Daichi glances at the man's scar near his right eye, on his high cheekbone. It is a bit faded but you could still see it when you are close enough.

"I said what I think is the best for us. I have nothing to discuss with you." Daichi wasn't always this cold to the man in front of him. Actually, they understood each other quite well. But after Mavis got his position, he showed his true colors. He takes a last glance at the man's other scar, at the one on his neck, before taking his leave. Both of them did he get from the same person.

And Daichi had the luck to be there when both scenes happened.

"I packed some tea for Kyoko. Tell her to drink at least one cup of that when she feels nauseous. It will calm her stomach down." A man in his late 40ties instructed, giving Daichi a bag where different types of herbs were inside of.

Daichi takes it with a gentle smile from the man and thanks him. His hair is mostly already grey, where black once was. His face with wrinkles still has kind and gentle eyes. A face that once was handsome in his younger years.

"Have you seen Akito? He promised me a drink." Daichi shook his head. "I bet he is in his room, playing like he always does." The man, Hideyoshi, sighed and made his way to the stairs. No doubt complaining in his head that Akito's room is on the 3rd floor.

"It's a wonder he didn't ask about Mavis. He was nagging about it because I couldn't risk getting him to her so he could heal her neck. You know, because of the Liberation Army." A glance to his side and there was Kyllian, Hideyoshi's son.

Hideyoshi once was a soldier for the Yamaguchi, but when he aged and his body moved slower, he took the position to be their doctor. And now, his son took his place, having the same quirk as his old man. No doubt that, if he ages and can't fight anymore, like he can right now, that he would help his father.

"Even if he asked about her, I don't know much myself. Akito only said that she was doing fine." Daichi sighed as he recalled what happened last week. Akito went and came back not much long after that. He looked like he could just go to sleep and never wake up again.

A drawback of his quirk and pretty reasonable when someone thinks about it, but Akito was snappy. He is snappy for a time now, but they just don't know why.

"Will you go and visit her? I planned on doing so myself but I don't want to go there alone." Kyllian scratched his neck with a sheepish smile and Daichi grunted. He always had a thing for Mavis. When she first came, Kyllian couldn't stop himself to glance at her every two seconds. He was there 15. And even now he can't hide his blush on his tanned cheeks every time her name falls into a conversation.

Ridiculous when someone thinks about it. He is 17 now and a good fighter, but his nervousness when it comes to that girl never fades.

"You can come with me when I go. I will text you."
