Chapter 57: Liar

Mavis' pov

"Mavis, I really didn't know that she would pull this move. I only-" "What have you told her?" Hawks froze in the middle of my dorm. It was going to be evening already. My eyes were unfocused as I stared into nothing. My mind was a mess. Trying to sort everything out was so different when you try to think back to two years ago.

What did they do to get even the littlest of details from my past when they even got my nickname?

"What do you mean?" I turned my head to look up to Hawks. "She called-" thinking about my next words again, I pressed my lips in a thin line and turned my head again, looking at my wall. It's better if I don't tell him anything. He probably thinks nothing about what she called me, when I point it out he will know something doesn't sit right on me.

"How does she know me again?" Hawks was in the corner of my eye like a blur as I fixed my gaze on a dent in my wall. Weird, that wasn't there this morning...

"I told you, she found out about you because I was away from my hero work too many times."

Liar.

"Why me?"

"They saw you in action in the sports festival and want you to join me in my mission."

Liar.

"What were you doing when the infiltration happened?"

"I was at home, sleeping."

Liar.

Liar.

Liar.

My head pounded but I tried to suppress the annoying feeling as I turned my head towards Keigo again. "Well, looks like we are partners now." He hesitantly came towards me and I didn't budge. Waiting for what he would do next.

What he would lie about next. He answered my questions as if practiced. He shot them out without thinking too much. But his tone was careful, as he if was trying to not fuck something up.

He crouched down in front of me, while I sat on my bed. "You don't have to do this..."

"I know. But it's better than living in prison." I still need to figure out so much... Still have a promise in my way. And I still have to see and talk to so many people. I feel like I'm gonna puke.

Hawks scanned my face, but found nothing suspicious. Good. Let me feed you with something till I have what I need. Be occupied with something else. "I need to meet him in half an hour," He informed me and I nodded.

"Go ahead. I'm not much of an use right now. Mina wanted me to help her with something anyways." A lie. I just want to be alone...

"You know they will want to meet you someday, too?" Keigo asked slowly. As if I was a scared animal.

"You told them about me?" My brows rose and I didn't know what to do with this bird. Maybe kill him? Feed him to dogs? Keep his wings and sell them? Or keep it as a trophy?

"It wasn't like that. They-" "Stop it. You look ridiculous. Just... go away." He opened then closed his mouth, before opening the door to my balcony and flying away. Giving me a lasting look.

Now... what do I do now...?

Denki spit the coffee that he sipped back into his cup, scrunching his face up. "This coffee tastes like burned asshole."

"How do you know how a burned asshole tastes like?" Sero asked jokingly. "Maybe it's because Mineta made it." I commented, not looking up from my notebook in front of me. Writing some things down.

"Dude, you drink something that Mineta gave you?" Mina asked, shoving a spoonful of porridge in her mouth.

"I don't know what you all have against him. He is actually a chill dude." Denki drunk a glass of water, before refilling it and drinking again. "If you mean with 'chill dude' a tiny looking child who sexualizes females every second of his life and even one time tried to take a picture of Mina's butt without her consent, then yeah, I don't know why we have something against him." I turned the page from my notebook and read the notes that I wrote there.

Denki spit the water that he was drinking on Sero, who was sadly seated besides Denki on his right. "When did that happen." Bakugo said with an intimidating low voice, but he tried to play it off with drinking water, as if it didn't interest him that much. "Umm, I think it was the first day after training for the festival." Mina scooped more sugar into her porridge while saying that. Honestly, I can't imagine how sweet this porridge now must taste like. She literally could just dump the whole sugar bag in her porridge now. It wouldn't taste any different.

"Why didn't you tell us?" Sero asked while wiping his face with a tissue. Denki mumbling a 'sorry bro...' while watching him. "Mavis handled it for me. No worries."

"What did you do?" Kirishima asked with curiosity, but I only wrote down another note. "You should ask 'What didn't she do?'. The boy was literally shaking like hell after she was done."

I felt the boys' eyes on me and looked up. Giving them an innocent smile. "I don't want to know anymore..." Kirishima mumbled and Denki shivered out of nowhere.

"What are you writing the whole time? You didn't even touch your food." Mina tried to peer from over the table. "Uhhh, just some notes that I can't afford to forget," I looked down to my notes then closed the notebook.

"How is training going with Deku?" Mina let her shoulders fall and rolled her eyes. "This boy can't dance. It just isn't in his blood.... I already planned kicking him out today."

"I knew that Deku can't do anything. I would show him my moves, but he isn't worth the time." Bakugo said, smirking to himself.

"You can show me your moves any time, pretty boy." I leaned forward, my body already facing him. "He is already booked, Mavis. You need to get in line. He still needs to show me how to get girls like you so easily." Denki grinned and I grinned back. "Oh, is that so?"

"I don't do anything. They always hang around me like flies." I scoffed. "Please, I'm the only one that ever flirts with you. And that is out of fun. Nothing comes from your side." Even if some girls would find him attractive, no one with a functioning brain would take the risk of losing their tongue. He is too scary for them.

He fixed me with a gaze. "It's because I don't want to." I grinned. "So you want me to stop?" He clicked his tongue, "I don't care what you do." and went back to eating.

"I think he likes it." Sero commented and Bakugo shot him a glare. The boy who commented it gave Bakugo an innocent smile. "Pity... it's no fun if someone doesn't play back. I think I will search someone else to flirt with." I looked over our classmates that were eating. "Oh! How about Todoroki?"

I stopped after a time to tease him. He is so confusing. Sometimes he would do it back, but other times he wouldn't even understand what I said. It just didn't make much fun.

"Hell no." Bakugo said, turning his gaze from Sero to me. "Why not?"

"Don't you always flirt with Jirou?" Kirishima asked. "Jirou deserves all the love she gets from me. But I won't toy with her feelings."

"But you can toy with Todoroki's and Bakugo's?" Denki raised a brow and I shrugged my shoulders. "Doesn't look like it really interests them."

Bakugo mumbled something but I didn't bother to catch it. "You can toy with my feelings," Denki pointed at himself with his thumb and grinned, "I always felt the electricity between us."

"Maybe if you stop consuming things that taste like burned asshole I will take your offer."

"Nobody flirts with anybody in this group." Bakugo said threateningly. "Come on man... You had your fun, now it's my turn."

"No need to be jealous Bakugo, just tell me already that you love me and I will stay loyal to you." He gritted his teeth and stood up, dumping his trey of food in the bin and walking away. We all watched him silently doing so, till he left.

"Maybe you went too far..." Mina mumbled. "But I always tease him like that. There was no difference." I only teared my eyes from the exit after Kirishima said, "Maybe he just isn't in the mood right now," and looked at my food.

'Maybe I should talk to him later...'
