Y/n's POV

As we were resting under the tree that we stopped at so Wendy could heal my injuries from the fights I got into. As we were resting, a dark magic power erupted from the island. I jolted up and looked around to see where the magic power was coming from. "Zuli? What's going on?" Wendy asked, looking at me. 

"I don't know. There's a dark magic power coming from a different part of the island." I explained. Wendy got up and looked around with me, trying to find it as well. "Zuli, I don't think we have time to search for the magic. We've only got hours before the second round of the trials is over." Wendy said. I nodded in agreement before we continued searching for the grave. This time we were more careful about picking fights, staying out of as many as possible. "This is tough. With no clues and only hours to find the grave." I complained. 

"Come on Zuli. We can't give up. I know we can find this grave." Wendy said. I smiled before nodding and continued as we walked around. "Zuli, you've been in the guild longer than I have. Do you know what Mest uses for magic?" Wendy asked.

"I actually don't. Something about him seemed off to me since he appeared and claimed to take part in this trial last year." I answered. While we were looking around, I felt Gajeel's magic power erupting from another part of the island which I turned towards. I waited for a minute before seeing a red flare get shot into the sky. "What's that?" Wendy asked.

"Nothing good, I bet. We need to head to camp, Celestia." I said. Wendy nodded in agreement before she gasped. "What about Mest? If it's true that he isn't actually part of the guild, he could be lost on the island." Wendy pointed out. 

"Alright, we'll go find Mest and head to camp." I said. We nodded at each other before heading towards where the first trial took place. As we made it back to the location of the first trial we looked around for any sign of Mest. As we were looking around I picked up a new scent which I assumed was Mest's scent. "I've got his scent." I said. Wendy sighed before motioning for me to lead the way to Mest. The two of us followed Mest's scent to where he was which was on a cliff side over looking the ocean. He was clearly thinking about something since as we walked up to him he didn't respond to our foot steps. "Mest? Where's your partner?" I asked.

"Oh, it's you two. What are you doing here?" Mest asked. Wendy walked over to him since she was concerned about the injuries he had. "We came looking for you. Someone sent a red flare into the sky and we wanted to make sure you got to camp before anything dangerous happened." I explained. Mest didn't reply as Wendy used her magic to treat his injuries. "Where'd you get these injuries from?" Wendy asked.

"Oh these are from my battle with Gray and his partner." Mest answered. Wendy and I nodded while I just stared at him curious about where Mest's partner was. "Mest did you bring a partner?" I asked. He looked at me before looking back down at Wendy. "I was going to ask the Sky maiden here, but I was too slow and you got to her before I did. Other than her, I didn't know who to bring so I came alone." Mest answered. I just nodded accepting his answer, but not sure if I believed who he was still. "There, all done healing." Wendy said, standing up and smiling at Mest.

"Thank you Sky Maiden." Mest said. 

"Random question, but why do you call Celestia 'Sky Maiden?'" I asked, confused why he kept using alias that people knew. 

"Oh that. Isn't that what most people call her?" Mest asked. 

"Not in the guild. Most people just call her Wendy when we're with guildmates." I explained. Mest looked a little panicked as he looked at me while I stared at him confused. As I stared him down he suddenly started eating some flowers that were on the ground around us. "I must know what these unknown flowers taste like." Mest said. 

"Zuli.... I don't think Mest is someone we should be suspicious of." Wendy said. I was going to disagree with her before hearing someone shouting. "Wendy! Y/n! Step away from that man!" Someone shouted. I looked up seeing Sapphire, Carla and Panther Lily flying towards us. "What are you three doing here?" I asked. The three of them landed between Mest and Wendy and I. "While I'm glad you didn't go with this man I still think you should've stayed home." Carla said, looking at Wendy. 

"What's going on?" I asked. 

"Who are you really?" Sapphire asked, looking at Mest.

"I'm Mest, Mystogan's pupil remember?" Mest said, backing up a bit from us. Panther Lily changed to his battle form before punching the rock behind Mest right next to Mest's head. "I find it hard to believe that my prince would take on a pupil in this world. Now you were smart enought to use someone who doesn't live here anymore to back up your story. But are you gonna be smart enough to tell us the truth? Who are you? And what are you trying to hide?" Panther Lily asked. I could see the panic setting in on Mest's face as he looks at Panther Lily. I got ready to use my magic in a moment's notice in case Mest tried anything. "I knew something about him was off." I said, ready to fight.
