Black's Day 3

You groan as you are dragged out of bed. True to your prediction, you got sick. Black is now dragging you out of bed to get you to his doctor friend. You didn't really mind as you had long since been miserable to the point where you were desperate.

You stumble a little, trying to keep up with Black's quick walking speed when suddenly you feel yourself get lifted up by the shorter than average skeleton.

You attempt to say thank you, but all that comes out of you is a painful cough. You decide to leave it and allow your body to collapse into the deep sleep your body so desperately needs.

Black sighs as he feels you fall asleep in his arms. He stares at the road ahead, unable to look down at your form. He feels so guilty.

Nightmare had warned them all that humans, especially children are very fragile. His child was no exception. A drastic change in temperature, while only an inconvenience to monsters, could be lethal to humans.

Only now, with the shivering,weak, sick human asleep in his arms does he understand what Nightmare truly ment.

Monsters rarely got sick, if at all. When your body is made out of magic mostly it is hard for diseases and viruses to harm you. Humans had nearly no magic at all in them. That made sickness and death much more likely.

Black sighs and shakes his head. There's nothing he can do to change the past. He can only try to fix his mistake as best he can now.

The captain of the gaurd marches quickly past many monsters in Waterfall. None try to stop him, instead the quickly move out of his way. His legendary temper made all who know of him weary not to get on his bad side.

Black growls slightly. He definitely needs to work off his frustration soon. He doesn't want to snap unnecessarily at Paps or the Queen. After all, that was part of the reason Black joined Nightmare's crew to begin with.

He remembers the day he met Nightmare like it was yesterday.

~~~~~~~~
Black was ducking under the swing of the massive axe that flew his way. Once again the new gaurd captain was training with the old captain and new personal gaurd to the queen.
Alphys, a large yellow dinosaur like monster covered in heavy looking black armor, laughs as Black nimbly moves across the battlefield.
"I can never get over how ya fight like a damned ballerina!" The large figure of Alphys roars out, still laughing.
Black simply smirks as he gracefully and quietly moves close to the distracted opponent.
"YES, WELL. NOT ALL OF US RELY ON AN UNGODLY AMOUNT OF STRENGTH. SOME OF US PREFER TO HONE OUR UNIQUE SKILLS INSTEAD." Black says as he quickly pushes his opponent to the ground, pinning her under his foot with a sharpened bone pointed to her now exposed neck.
"AND FROM WHAT I CAN TELL, THIS "BALLERINA" JUST WON OUR SPAR."
Alphys gives another deep bellied laugh. "Yeah, good point short stack."
Black growls at the jab to his shorter than average height. "WELL, AT LEAST MY HIGHT CAN GIVE ME AN ADVANTAGE IN A FIGHT. ESPECIALLY WITH MY FIGHTING STYLE."
Alphys smirks, "Yeah, I guess you really did manage to turn that into an advantage. Not many midgets could do that." She playfully jabs back.
Black was about to bite back at her with another witty comment, when suddenly a large gaping hole of rainbow technicolor lights opens and five figures fall through.
"I swear to the gods, Dream! I will kill you if you try one of your "heroic" I'm the good guy speeches!" A slightly taller skeleton, covered in goop yells at a different skeleton, also slightly taller than Black, who was dressed in bright gold, light blue and yellows.
"Now, Nightmare. It's rude to interrupt someone while they're talking." The second skeleton, apparently named Dream lectures the first.
"Well, it's also rude to stop us in the middle of a job then ditching as soon as you can." A different skeleton calls out, sarcastically. This one was dressed in a blue unzipped hoodie with a white shirt underneath and black basketball shorts. The unique feature on this skeleton was his eyes that were a void of black that seemed to drip out of his eyes every so often and a red target infront of his creasy that seems almost like a soul.
Black's eyes drift to the other two skeletons. One, was dressed in a outfit consisting of brown and white with a huge paintbrush on his back and colorful vials attached to his sash. His eyes also seem to change color and shape frequently.
The other was a more innocent looking version of himself, which also so happens to be slightly taller than himself. Just that fact alone pisses him off.
"BUT, IT'S NOT A JOB! OR AT LEAST, NOT A GOOD ONE! HOW CAN DESTROYING AUS BE CONCERNED GOOD! IT'S JUST KILLING PEOPLE!!" The carbon copy of himself shouts, tears in his eyes.
"There is no point in explaining to those who do not listen. Now, you three have already caused enough trouble for one day, don't you think. Go on, scurry back off to your secret hideout. It won't change a thing." Nightmare states, obviously expecting the three skeletons to do just that.
"No! You'll just hurt another AU if we do!" The one called Dream shouts back.
Nightmare blinks in surprise, before chuckling lowly. "You honestly think you can beat me somewhere like here? The negativity that rolls off each living thing here is draining you, I know it is. How can you expect to beat me while your strength is fleeing from you when you can't even beat me at full power?"
Dream grits his teeth and lets out a shout of "I don't care anymore!" And lunges at Nightmare.
Black decides that the three brightly colored strangers need to leave before they get into a destructive battle here that they can't win. The injuries on the three obviously show that they are in no condition to fight, so he steps in.
Black's whip forms in his hand and is quickly lashed out. The leather cord wraps around Dream's ankle and stops him mid lunge.
"EXCUSE ME, WHILE I NORMALLY WOULDN'T MIND WATCHING A GOOD BRAWL, I'D RATHER BOT HAVE TO DEAL WITH THE CLEAN UP. SO, LEAVE. NOW." Black growls at the Multiverse's defenders.
Ink blinks in surprise and pauses to process the information. Their battle would be very destructive, and it's clear that this universe is still inhabited. If they were to fight here there would be a large loss of life as collateral damage. "Yes, I think we will do that. Blue? Could you grab Dream?"
The energetic blue eyed skeleton gives Ink a questioning glance, but does as asked. Ink usually has a good reason for doing things like this. He'll ask at base why they retreated.
Black watches the three disappear from his home and turns his attention to the other two skeletons.
"As unnecessary as it was, thank you for the assistance." Nightmare says, closing his eyes to calm himself.
Killer laughs and gives him a thumbs up. "Yeah, man! That was supper helpful, thanks!"
Black nods, rasing an eyebrow. "NOW, WOULD YOU MIND TELLING ME WHAT IS GOING ON HERE. I'D RATHER BE MORE INFORMED OF WHO YOU ALL ARE AND WHAT IS HAPPENING IN CASE SOMETHING LIKE THIS HAPPENS AGAIN."
Nightmare blinks in surprise. This monster just gave a valid reason as to why he wished for the information, but also took serious initiative in asking questions about the strange situation that presented itself before him.
He kept a calm demeanor and analyzed the situation and took action only when he needed to. This monster clearly has an intimidating presence despite his short stature and can handle his own in a fight.
All in all he would be the perfect type of person to act as a scout, or interrogator for Nightmare. So, Nightmare offered him a job.
~~~~~~~~~

By the time Black is shaken out of his musings, he had already dropped off the kid at Undyne's lab and been training at the gaurd post for an hour.

Black sighs. Nightmare is going to kill him when he realizes that his kid got sick due to Black over looking fixing the heater.
