You shake slightly as you curl up into Nightmare's arms, staring at your hands in shock. You somehow created a small red, orange, and yellow knife that you used to stab Undyne in the side.
It wasn't enough to kill the tyrant queen, only knock her out. But, you were terrified. You had no idea how or why you did that. All you remember is seeing Horror, one of the first people to accept you with open arms, in danger and about to be killed. You were determined to be brave and save him from the unjust punishment the queen decided to give him. Your feelings ran so strong, that you started acting without realizing.
Soon enough, you were out of Papyrus' arms and on top of Undyne a knife suddenly in hand being thrusted into her abdomen.
"Starlight, it's alright. You didn't do anything wrong." Nightmare murmurs into your hair, rubbing your head lightly.
"B-but, I-"
"You were protecting someone you cared about. She didn't die, and you saved Horror. It's okay." Nightmare had been comforting you all night, trying to calm you down and convince you that you did nothing wrong.
You sigh and let your tired eyes close, feeling a sense of security as you finally let your dad's words sink in. After all, he was right. If you hadn't acted, Horror would be dead. And with that thought you slip into a dreamless sleep.
--
Nightmare listens to your soft, barely audible, snores as you finally give up the ghost and fall asleep under his magic.
You had an unusually high resistance to passive magic when you want to. That would be extremely useful with the right training. Nightmare notes that when you're older he'll have to train you in all types of magic.
Having let you drift far enough into sleep, Nightmare stands up, your sleeping form still in his arms as he makes his way down the hall to his office.
Dream and his band of positivity addicts were inactive for far too long. It made the god of negativity nervous. So, in order to ensure your safety, Nightmare will have to call in a favor.
"Death? Yeah, I need to call in one of the favors you owe me."
---------------
Dream's head shoots up from the meeting table where Fresh, Epic, Classic, G, Shift, Life, Outer, and Ocean all sat.
Life also seems to have sensed the sudden shift in his movement.
Death was moving out of their home universe, and he was pissed.
"Uhmm... I apologise, it looks like the meeting will have to be delayed. I'll contact you all later." Dream tells the guests nervously, as he rushes out to go find Ink and Blue in hopes to check in on the god without him knowing. After all, no one wants to get in the way of Death, especially when he's angry.
----------
"You think the kid is in danger? Alright. I'll be there soon." Death mumbles, hanging up on Nightmare.
Death knew Dream was an ignorant idiot, but he didn't think he was this stupid. Honestly, Dream's inability to ask simple questions was just making thing so much worse than it needs to be.
The god shook his head as he looks over to Zelus. The smirking man was always stirring up trouble. He liked to make people jealous, stir up rivalries, keep feuds going. It was his job. He just did it a bit too well.
Something in the back of the powerful skeleton's mind told him that his fellow god had something to do with Dream's ongoing ignorance.
Clenching his hand around his scythe, Death ripped open a portal to Nightmare's castle. Trying to ignore the horrid smirk on the dark god's face. Bringing a child into his schemes wasn't new for Zelus, but it didn't make it any less despicable.
---
"Moonstone, I need you to wake up." A calm, familiar voice stirs you from your sleep.
You blink your eyes open to see Nightmare looking down at you with Death next to him, the god's usual lazy, calm smile in place as he nods to you, acknowledging your awake presence.
"Hey there kiddo. Your dad needs me ta watch ya for a little while. That sound okay?" Death says gently as you sit up, and rub your eyes, trying to bring yourself back into awareness.
"Yaaaayyyyy... Uncle Death..." You murmur, still half asleep.
Death and Nightmare chuckle at your sleepy reaction. However, you weren't ready to leave your comfy spot attached to your father quite yet. So you faceplant back into your father's chest, quickly falling back asleep.
Death rolls his eyes, and walks over to the father and child pair, and carefully takes you from Nightmare's arms.
"Careful. Zelus had a smug, knowing look on his ugly mug when I left. He might be interfering."
Nightmare nods, his eye narrowing slightly. "Would make sense. My brother and I have quite the epic rivalry. He'd probably be very drawn to it."
Death and Nightmare share a determined look, before nodding and going their separate ways.
---------
Dream paces the meeting hall nervously. Life looks between the god of positivity and the exit, anxiously.
"Dream, dear? If you are truly this nervous, would you like to check in on San- ... Death with me?" Life asks, cautiously approaching the tense god.
Dream shakes his head. The others had left a while ago, but Life, bless her, wanted to stay with Dream until Ink and Blue arrived.
"N-not yet. I still need to wait for Ink and Blue... Just in case." Dream tells the goddess, trying to giver her a smile, but failing.
Life sighs as she rests a hand on Dream's shoulder. "It's alright, dear. S- Death is powerful, but he isn't impulsive. He always does things for a reason. There's no need to be so nervous."
Dream looks down at the ground, his face twisting into a grimace. "I know, but... The last time he was this upset..." Dream trails off, allowing a tense silence to fill the air.
It was at that moment, that Ink and Blue rush in, Ink still adjusting his belt. "We're here! We're here!"
"SORRY WE'RE LATE!"
Dream quickly turns on his heel, and walks up to Ink, grabbing the Multiverse's protector by the shoulder. "Come on, let's go. We've already wasted far too much time."
----------------
Death quietly floats above the grass in Life's hideaway. He had brought you here to introduce you to Life, seeing as she loved children and Death trusted her quite a bit. But, the goddess wasn't here.
So, instead you got to run around and explore Life's beautiful garden. The many different animals and plants in the small hidden area was more than enough to catch your attention for an hour.
Soon enough though, you grew far to tired and casually walk up toward Death, rubbing your eye sleepily.
Death chuckles and reaches out a hand to pick you up, but a flash of yellow crosses his vision, taking you away and a paintbrush in his face confuses him enough to freeze and loose track of the yellow blur.
"SANS! What were you thinking!? You know you can't touch living things!" A familiar voice yells out from his right.
Death calmly looks over at Toriel, the goddess of Life, ready to explain, when black ink comes flying at him.
Death feels annoyance creep up his spine as he summons his scythe and slices the ink in two, keeping the magical art supplies from even touching him.
However that moment was all that was needed for Ink, Dream, and Blue to disappear with the child. Annoyance was soon replaced with a deep sense of dread and anger.
Death straightens up, careful to not touch the ground and growls. "What the hell. I don't even get a chance to explain myself?! God... Nightmare's gonna kill me."
Life stares at Death in confusion. "Nightmare? What should he have to do with a child?"
Death sighs and glances over at his friend, knowing she was probably misinformed or jumping to conclusions Death waves a hand in dismissal. "Don't worry. The kid was never in any real danger. Nightmare adopted that kid a long time ago. And, now the kid's a demigod. Essentially, I couldn't kill the kid even if I wanted to."
Life's face twists into a look of realization and horror. "Oh my..."
"Yeah, that."
-------------
A loud, deep, frustrated, scream echos throughout the halls of the dark castle.
The other residents of the fortress of darkness flinch and feel a deep sense of dread sink into their very souls.
Nightmare is pissed.
And blood will be spilled.
