XXXV

TWO DAYS LATER

"Baby, bruh, stop crying". Amaru said chuckling lowly, standing over Áine who couldn't seem to wrap around the fact that she was expecting a baby once again. The sixth time.

Just hearing the news made her lose her mind and took her back to that dark place when she had all those abortions. That dark place where she had given birth to stillborn, twice and just when she thought she could have it all. It snatched again from her.

"No, this is not true. Let's go back to the doctor ". She whined, looking at him teary eyed. Amaru stood hopelessly. He didn't know what to do. He was slightly feeling better but had the urge to belch every now and again.

"We've been to three different doctors already and they have confirmed  the same thing".

"I can't be pregnant ". She said, tears cascading down her face once again. Amaru scooted closer to her and wrapped his arms around her

"It's going to be okay".

"How do you know that?"  She asked, looking at him and stray tears cascading down her face.

"Because I just know". She sniffed and shook her head.

"Babe I am with you every step of the way. You are not doing this alone". Amaru reassured her but Áine wasn't convinced.

She wipes her tears and looked at Amaru dead into his eyes.

"I want a abortion". She stated making Amaru buck his eyes at her.

"W-what?". He asked, with shock radiating off his body.

"I said I want an abortion ".

"I know you fucking lying ". He said, while looking at her and eyes turning into slits.

"I won't be able to handle this baby. I don't want this baby". She cried once again.

"You gotta be kidding me Áine?!". Amaru asked, humourlessly chuckling. Áine looked at him as she wailed with a pout on her face.

"You tryna kill our child? Are you being serious right now?". Amaru asked feeling hurt and anger reside in him.

"Baby i—". Amaru scooted away from her, causing hurt to flash her in eyes.

"I ain't your ex bitch ass nigga that made you get abortions because he couldn't step up to being a father. I can and will step up for my child. You of all people should know what I went through. What we both went through to get here again". Amaru told her.

"You wouldn't understand!". She told him.

"I don't understand?! Are you being foreal? I, of all people understand more than anything". He replied.

"This is my body and I'ma do whatever I want". Áine resorted to saying making him shake his head and stood up.

"We are in a relationship and that's my child too. I get a say in this matter too!".

"No you don't. You don't know what my body went through all that trauma and now I have to go through that all over again to lose my child again?!". She slightly raised her voice at him.

"You acting as if I didn't lose my child too. It might've been different but I lost my child. Don't take that away from me Aine, from us. We were given a second chance". Amaru sat back and grabbed her hand.

"You just don't understand Amaru! I don't want to feel that again and have you blaming me for losing our baby. I know it's going to happen".

"Why you keep manifesting it? Stop that shit!". He scolded her.

"Because I know it! I've been through this way too many times, why aren't you listening to me. I'm getting an abortion and that's final!". She told him.

"Alright, and when you do? Just know we over". He seriously said, standing up and walking out the room. That sent a painful pang to her heart.

She got out of bed and went after him but he was out the door already.

More tears cascaded down her face, making her drop to the floor and just wail in the decision she had  just made. In her mind, she knew it was the best decision for both of them.

She knew how this cycle ended so to avoid disappointment in the end, she was trying the initiative of abortion their baby. It was the right decision.

Hearing her phone ring, she sluggishly stood up from the cold floor and walked into her room. She grabbed the ringing  phone off the night stand and wiping her tears. She waited for a few moments for it to connected  before Angel's voice came through.

"What's all this bullshit I'm hearing about you aborting your baby?!". Angel stated as soon as the call connected.

"W-what?". Áine asked out of shock to her mother and started crying once again. Her argument with Amaru had pushed her into a much worse bad mood.

"Don't you dare go through that Áine again!". Angel scolded her over the phone.

"I can't have this baby. I-i just can't ". She told her mother, breaking down.

"You know Amaru isn't like Kobi. Why are you punishing him for Kobi's mistakes?". Angel asked making her body jerk forward from crying.

"I-i know how this is going t-to end and I don't want Amaru to go through that!". She said, stuttering over a few words.

"But you don't know that. You don't know of God's plan. Amaru's was put into your life to change the way you view life. Hasn't everything been a smooth ride with him, Hmm?". Angel questioned her daughter.

She nodded her head, agreeing.

"Has he not given all that you wanted and more? Has he not given the reassure you need? The soft love you always talking about. The safe and softest landing in your time of need? Has he not been your safe space to come around, when you feel the world has been chaotic for you? Has he not given you all that, huh?" Angel softly asked Áine.

"I just don't want to fail him. I-I don't want to put him in a position where I will h-hurt him. I don't want to feel responsible for his heartbreak".

"How will you know if you don't take the chance my baby? God forbid if this is your last chance of having a baby and you want to take that away from him. From both of y'all".

Áine sniffed, listening to her mother. She was right.

"If there is a man I know who loves you dearly, it's Amaru. I haven't seen you this happy in a long time, so don't worry your head with what's going to happen because it's going to work out in the end". Angel yawned as the words fell onto Áine.

"Mama, I love you and I hope you never forget that".

"I know baby, I know that much". Angel smiled into the camera and stared at her daughter. She had taken her father's skin tone and some facial features but you could still a bit of Angel in her.

"You talk to that man while I rest, okay?". Áine nodded her head and said their goodbyes. Áine placed her phone on the nightstand and walked to her bathroom.

She stood over the sink and splashed cold water on her face, to wake up her but the stinging feeling of her red puffy eyes was unbearable.

She had cried so hard and so many times, that she just wanted to sleep. She walked over to her bed and grabbed her phone, pressing on the message thread between her and Amaru.

please come back so we can talk. I love you 🥺

She pressed send and placed back it on the nightstand. She grabbed the pillow and used it to comfort herself as tears cascaded down her face.

She was scared and nervous that why she said the things she said. Wiping her tears and laying her head on her pillow, the heavy feeling of her sore eyelids push her into a deep slumber.

Feeling large hands caress her swollen belly, Áine was startled. She looked down, seeing the toffee shade of hands. She smiled knowing who it was.

"How are you  feeling baby?". Amaru asked, placing his head in the crook of her neck.

Sweetly humming and enjoying the feeling of the hands on her belly, her baby moved around changing positions.

"Amaru stop, you know the baby gets excited to hear you and will move around". She giggled, slightly pushing him off her.

"Okay lemme rub on you one more time ". He said, while Áine turned around and faced him.

"No". She playfully wiggled her finger in his face, "But you can give mommy a kiss?". She hopefully asked with a huge grin gracing her brown plump lips.

"Hmm.. yeah no". He seriously said, receiving a frown and a shove to the shoulder

"What's that for?". Amaru chuckled, holding his hands out

"You don't want to give me a kiss!".

"And you don't want me to touch on my son!".

"How do you know its a boy?".

"I just know, babe".

"It's not a boy!".

"Yes it is, look how high your belly is?", He started, slyly playing his hand back on her belly. The baby moved around, causing Aine to whimper as a kick was sent to the surface.

"See?!". She glared at him as Amaru sheepishly smiled.

She hated it when the baby moved around because it caused her great discomfort as her baby was a big baby and was constantly pressing on her bladder

"Ouu I gotta go". She sang waddling to the bathroom for a quick release. She wiped down the toilet seat and struggled to sit making her just opt for a alight squat and peeing before she peed herself.

When she was done, she sighed in contentment and pulled her shorts up. She flushed and walked over to the sink washing her hands

"I'm almost done babe!" She said, hearing the door open.

"Aine how could you?"  She heard behind her. She looked up and saw Amaru looking at her with tears in his eyes but eyes with no life in them.

"What?". She confusedly questioned.

"You killed my son?"  Amaru asked with so much hurt. All Aine could do is look at him with so much confusion

"W-what do you mean? I didn't do it?"  She told him, turning around to face him.

"You said you wouldn't do it but you do!".

"What are you talking about? I'm having our baby, Amaru. I didn't go through with it" .

"Where is the baby then? Where is the fucking baby Aine huh?".

"Right he—". She looked down and nothing. No swollen belly she had just a few moments ago.

"Where is the baby?". He asked again, making his way towards her.

"I-i just— you saw. Bab— ". She stuttered trying to make sense of what just happened. She turned around and looked through the mirror and she saw nothing. She was flat.

"Look at your fucking hands. You have blood on them! Our child's blood". He yelled at her.

"I-I didn't d-do it". She sobbed uncontrollably.

"I hate you!". He said to her, causing a sharp pain to fracture through her heart.

"I didn't d-do it. Please believe me". She begged, feeling the pool of blood on her feet as she looked down.

She looked up to see a disgusted Amaru looking at her with so much hatred and disgust in his eyes.

"It's over. I don't want to see you again". He stated, walking out the door with a loud slam.

Áine slid down the floor, crying her lungs out,

"I didn't do it!".

•••

"Babe—". Aine woke up from her horrible nightmare, gasping loudly with tears rolling down her face.

"Take deep breathe in and out". She did as she was told, getting her breathing to a normal pace.

She looked around and noticed it was now dark outside. The sun had set. She had a banging headache from all the crying she did before she fell asleep.

She frantically pulled back the duvet covers and saw the bedspread sheet still white. She blew out a relived sigh she didn't know she was holding.

"I'm s-sorry". She said, looking Amaru who was now watching her. Tears pooled into her eyes and uncontrollably rolled down her cheeks.

"Look it doesn't mat—".

"Stop! Please". She cut him off, wiping her tears.

"I'm not doing it. I'm not getting the abortion. I'm sorry I said all those things. I-i—". She cleared her throat, grabbing his hand and intertwining their fingers together.

"—I was scared, I still am but I know that walking this journey eyes with you will be worth it. Whatever happens I know you will be my side always and vice versa. I love you and I want to give you all of lives desires". She concluded, softly sniffing.

She scooted closer to him and wrapped her arms around his neck and laid her head on his chest.

"Please don't leave me".

Team boy 🤎or team girl🤍

And is it true that  you can determine what sex the baby is by how dark the line that runs thru the belly or how low the belly is?? And if it happened to yall, was it accurate ?
