It's common for makeup to contain animal products and even more common to be tested on animals.

A closer look at some of the ingredients:



Musk is the glandular secretions from an animals back/rectal areas.



Cochineal/ red5/ carmine comes from the cochineal bug/Beatle. The bug must be killed in order to collect the distinct red colour that is used as a pigment in many makeups and even food.



Collagen is a structural protein in the connective tissues of animals. (Bone, tendon or cartilage.)



No one wants to buy products tested on animals. Most of us have seen the pictures and it just rips our hearts apart. It's maddening that we are doing this to animals just for our own beauty... How ugly.



(Beagles are commonly tested on... Imagine if it were your dog they were experimenting on.)




Many animals are repetitively tested on if they survive because it saves them money.



To figure out if a product is tested on animals it's always best to go to the Internet. It's common other vegans have already messaged companies and have gotten a response as to if a product is vegan (meaning no animal products and not tested). If not you could message the company yourself. Online it is also easy to find new brands you may not have heard of before that are cruelty free. Some cruelty free brands are:
