chapter 10 | las drogas

OLIVIA, ALEX, SCHNEIDER AND ALEX'S FRIEND FINN HAD JUST ENTERED THE ALVAREZ APARTMENT. Olivia placed her bag on the couch before going in the kitchen and grabbing some chips as she went back to the living room.

"Hey guys! How was baseball?" Penelope asked.

"Terrible! I mean they played great. But my snack game was way off. The kids barely touched my black olive tapenade." Schneider complained as Olivia rolled her eyes and sat on the chair.

"Yeah maybe because we don't like olives dude." Olivia said.

"Thanks for helping out but Olivia is right. Maybe next time pick a food a kid would wanna eat, or has heard of." Penelope told.

"Yeah, and maybe next time, don't hand out masks with my face on them." Alex exclaimed as he took the mask and put it over his face. "Handsome but creepy."

Lydia came out from her room, carrying Lucas. Olivia cooed as she took him from her arms and gave him a chip, as he nibbled on it.

"Hey, can I carry him?" Alex asked. Livi nodded as she gave Lucas to Alex. Alex smiled cheekily at baby lucas.

"Hey Luc, aw, you're so cute! I could just squish you like a pillow right now." Alex cooed taking him from livis arms. Olivia giggled at him.

"Here take one of your pain pills." Lydia suggested and passed Penelope a pain pill.

"I thought you didn't want me to have las drogas."

"The pain in your body is real. The pain in your mind, is in your head." Lydia said and Olivia nodded along.

"What happened Ms Alvarez?" Finn asked.

"It's nothing, Finn."

"Hey don't be so modest. She jacked her shoulder in Afghanistan being a hero." Schneider said as he gave the kids cups of water and some popcorn and gave Lucas a cup of apple juice while he was sitting on Alex's lap, playing with his toy. (ok idk if it's popcorn or not so don't come at me 😭)

"Hero? Kabul, 2004." Penelope then told her story to Finn whilst Alex and Olivia played with Lucas since they heard this story over a million times already.

After she was done telling her story, Finn got up from his chair.
"Well, I thank you for your service, Mrs Alvarez." Finn saluted making Olivia cringe, giving a disgusted face.

"Yeah, don't do that." Penelope cringed as well.

"So, can we have some money for the fair?" Alex got up from his chair and asked his mother.

"Sure, grab ten bucks from my purse." Penelope said. Alex looked at Olivia and she gave him a look that said 'we need more money than ten bucks dude' look.

Alex faked groaned, trying to grab Penelope's attention.

"What papito?!"

"Well, it's just we need at least 20 to do anything fun. But it's okay. We can watch the other kids have a good time." Alex pouted.

"That sounds great. You don't even need the ten dollars." Penelope said.

"Okay I get it, I'll take the ten."

"Wait, wait, wait. Guys don't go anywhere. I have kind of exciting announcement." Schneider said.

"Something went wrong in your adult diaper? Because that sure seems like that happened." Olivia said and high fived Penelope.

"It's athleisure wear. But the good news is, after months of planning, the members of my college band have finally put aside our differences and were reuniting to play at the fair this afternoon." Schneider explained. He put his hands up to high five everyone but they stared at him in confusion and disbelief.

"Alright. Maybe this would entice you." Schneider took out a captains hat and placed it on, hoping someone would cheer him on but everyone still stayed silent and looked at him with a blank expression on their faces.

"Nope."

"Well it should because my band, Full Sail, plays yacht rock." Lydia then said something in Spanish and Schneider started explaining what a yacht rock is.

"Guys can we go. This is boring me in so many different levels right now." Olivia groaned. Alex and Finn nodded before the three left the house leaving the adults to talk to Schneider as the kids went to meet their friends at the fair.

Alex, Olivia and Finn had just returned from the fair and were going back to the Alavrez apartment.

"Oh no. Um, you guys go first, I need to give Sophia her purse back." Olivia said and the boys nodded before she headed down to give Sophia her purse. Olivia invited Sophia to the fair since she didn't want to only hang out with boys all the time.

"Hey Soph, you forgot your purse. Again." Olivia called out.

"Oh my god, there it was! Thanks liv. Anyways I'll see you in school tomorrow, love you." Sophia blew a kiss to Olivia and she did the same and chuckled before going back upstairs to the Alvarez apartment.

"Uh, Finn, what are you doing?" Olivia asked as she saw Finn standing at the doorway.

"Uh, nothing." He answered nervously. Olivia tried to open the door but he blocked her way in doing so.

"Finn, let me in." Olivia sneered but he still didn't listen and continued blocking her way.

"Finn, if you don't let me in within three seconds, I'll kick you down there so hard you wont even be able to produce any children." The redhead threatened. Finn eyes widen and he chuckled nervously before quickly opening the door for her.

"Sure, go in." He stuttered. Olivia smirked before going inside, already regretting it as she saw Alex holding a toy sword and pills and Elena was standing there awkwardly.

"Okay, what the hell just happened?" She asked.

"What are you doing here? Why are you spying on me?" Elena asked, ignoring Olivia's question.

"why are you holding those pills?!" Olivia crossed her arms as she stared at her best friend in confusion.

"Tumbleweed!" Alex exclaimed.

"I'm not even gonna ask about the sword. What are you doing with mom's pills?" Elena asked.

"I can explain....I was stealing them." Alex said causing Olivia to roll her eyes.

"Mom is going to kill you. I mean, quite literally she is going to kill you. Resuscitate you, kill you again, and then ground your lifeless body." Elena stated.

"I didn't really want to. It was Finn's idea. Please don't tell mom." Alex said.

"This is exactly why I hate Finn." Olivia scoffed.

"I'm not gonna tell mom, and what is Finn's problem anyway? You're gonna let him turn you into a little Latino drug dealer? Stereotype much?" Elena scolded.

"It's not drug dealing, god. We were just going to sell some pills to get some money." Alex told. Olivia and Elena stared at him causing him to realise what he did. He sighed and placed the pills back on the table where it was.

"So, did you hear what I saying while you were back there?" Elena asked. Olivia furrowed her eyebrows in confusion, not knowing anything they were talking about.

"Nah the curtains were pretty thick." Alex said sarcastically and Olivia rolled her eyes as she went over and sat down on the couch.

"You can't say anything to anyone. Except for Livi since she's already hearing what we're saying and also because I can trust her. And she probably doesn't even know what we're talking about right now." Elena said causing Olivia to nod. "I mean its not that I'm embarrassed. I'm just not sure."

"I promise, I won't say anything. Anyway, it doesn't matter. It's not like you'd be in trouble. I mean, who cares right?"

"Good brother." Elena pulled Alex into a hug which made him frown in confusion. Olivia smiled at the two.

"Now I really don't understand what's going on." Alex said and they laughed.

"Hello?" A woman on the phone said.

"Alvarez! 2294!" Elena, Alex and Olivia yelled.

"Who are you holding for?"

"I don't know, but please don't hang up! We gotta keep her talking." Elena pleaded.

"Is this Penelope Alvarez?"

Elena didn't know what to say and passed the phone to Olivia. She gave her a look and Elena made hand movements, showing her to talk to the lady.

"Yes! I'm Penelope, I'm a badass, who served in Afghanistan doing army stuff! Hooah!" Olivia said as she tried to act like Penelope. Alex then took the phone out of Olivia's hands and started speaking.

"And I'm her son, Alex. I know my mom sounds kind of young, but these days babies having babies..." Alex said.

"I'm back!"

"Oh my god, finally, I couldn't take this anymore!" Livi sighed in relief.

"What happened to you?"

"I got roughed up pushing through the crowd on the way to the market. That kebab line is no joke."

"Hello?"

"Hello? Hello? Who is this?"

"This is Jolene in pain management."

"Oh Jolene! Oh my god Jolene!" Penelope sighed in relief.

"Hey, let's go." Alex nudged my arm. "It's time for the smooth, summer sounds of Full Sail. Schneider made me say that." Alex said and walked out of the door with Olivia following behind.

"Wait! I wanna come too! Let me warm up my voice before the show. Boo.... Yep, I'm good." Elena said, walking behind the two kids.

"So, are you gonna tell me what happened with the Elena situation? And why you were stealing your moms pills?" Olivia asked Alex.

"Oh yeah, that. Well, look, Finn made me do it. I swear I didn't wanna do it at all, he forced me too and if I don't, then he'll kick me out of the group chat we're in." Alex explained.

"Ugh, what a jerk! You see this is one of the reasons why I hate him so much!" Olivia spat.

"Yeah, and I'm sorry for stealing the pills. I know you hate it when people do stuff like these, especially me." Alex said softly.

"Hey it's okay. I forgive you and it wasn't your fault because honestly I wouldn't want to be kicked out from the group chat either."

"Yeah, but I don't really care if I do or not. All I know is that I have my best friend, you." Alex said and Olivia smiled at him.

"And also, Elena might like girls." Alex said out randomly and started walking away from Olivia with her eyes wide open from shock.

"Wait! What?!"
