Alex was finally graduating. She'd fought hard to become valedictorian, but eventually agreed upon being co-valedictorian with her boyfriend, Sanjay.

"How can Alex get some but not you?" Luke asked.

"I can get some, I just choose not to. I'll have you know there's a specific boy I have my eye on," Tiana said. Why did she say that?

"Yeah? Who?"

Tiana shrugged, walking into Jay and Gloria's house and right over to Manny.

"Here she is!" Claire said as her, Alex, Luke and Haley followed Tiana into the home. Everyone cheered.

"Thanks for being there, you guys," Alex said.

"We wouldn't have missed it, sweetie," Cam said, lisping, "Your speech was fantastic."

"What's wrong with your speech?" Claire asked.

"Oh, is it that obvious? I got adult braces!"

"Are you sure?" Jay asked, "Cause they don't seem like they fit right."

"I think it's a bold step and I support you in your journey of self-improvement," Manny said.

"No, you're not getting to ur hair straightened," Gloria rolled her eyes. Luke rolled his, too. What did Tiana see in him?

"You know your dad wishes he could be here," Claire turned to Alex.

"What are you talking about?" Phil's voice sounded as it headed into the foyer. His face was displayed on some kind of tablet, which wheeled through the house, like a real life robot. "I'm right here! I had Andy set me up so I could be here with you all."

"I just had to plug him in," Andy said, "It was a nice reversal from when I had to pull the plug on my dad in the hospital."

Phil couldn't physically be at Alex's graduation because he got stuck on a business trip, but of course he found a way to be with his daughter on her special day. To say Tiana was jealous of the Dunphy's relationship with their father was an understatement.

Luke had barely spoken to Tiana all day, but she tried not to think much of it. She poured herself a drink as Manny walked into the kitchen.

"Tia, there you are!" He said.

"Here I am," she replied, sounding sadder than she'd intended.

"You okay?"

"Okay-ish. Luke's barely spoken to me all day. We were fine at the graduation, then he just kind of turned when we got here. I don't know what's up."

"That is weird." It wasn't like Luke to ignore the girl he liked.

"You think I did something to upset him?"

"You could never do something to upset him, there's probably just something else on his mind."

"You're right. Thanks, Manny."

Tiana leaned in for a hug, which Manny accepted, unaware of the boy sat at the kitchen table, next to Alex.

"Oh, come on," Alex said, "You didn't even hear their conversation. They're friends, they're allowed to hug."

"Yeah, until they start locking lips."

"Does it look like they're about to make out?"

Manny and Tiana pulled away from each other, and Tiana grabbed another glass for Manny.

"She's pouring him a drink."

"So what?"

"She's never poured me a drink."

"Oh my God, you're impossible."

Alex stood up and walked away, slowly followed by Luke, who no longer wanted to watch his best friend and his crush 'flirt'. That's what he called it, anyway.

Luke sat on the couch, feeling defeated. It wasn't long before Haley plopped down next to him. "What's your issue?" She asked.

"The same issue I've been having for months. It's worse now. I think Tia and Manny are a thing."

"You think Manny would do that to you?"

"Have you seen the way they act with each other?"

"Yeah. Like best friends. Luke, I can guarantee they aren't a thing. Plus, I thought you didn't like her that much anyway. Why would it matter?"

"I don't know. It wouldn't. I guess I'd have to see it all the time. See them together, hugging, and kissing. I mean, what if they got married? And I won't have moved on, and-"

"You don't think you're gonna move on by the time Tia's old enough to get married?"

"No."

"You wanna know something?"

"Depends."

"The average age for a woman in California to get married is twenty-seven."

"So?"

"So you don't think you're gonna move on by the time you're twenty-seven?" Luke shrugged. "That's eleven years."

"And?"

"And? Luke, you're in love!"

"Don't be an idiot."

"I'm the idiot? You get stupidly upset when you think of her with someone else, you get worried every time she does something even slightly dangerous, you don't think you're ever gonna move on, and the biggest cliche, you look at her like she's some sort of angel!"

"How would you know what being in love feels like? You've had a million boyfriends."

Haley looked over at Andy, chatting to his girlfriend Beth. "I just do."

Luke threw his head back and ran his hands through his hair. "You're right."

"I am?"

"I'm in love."

Luke was shocked with the words he'd finally let spill out of his mouth. He hadn't even realised it. After months, his crush hadn't disappeared, yet he'd somehow still had himself convinced that it was just a small thing, something that would pass.

Tiana stood in the foyer, unintentionally listening to the conversation happening between the two siblings. It was an accident at first, she was just looking for Alex to congratulate her on her graduation. Then she heard Haley's speech. She didn't hear who it was about, just what it was about. This mystery girl Luke had refused to tell Tiana about? He was in love.

"Shit."
