Chapter 13

In an office in the Manil Royal place King Ferdinand Duterte and Commander Ron Merritt of the marine base. The two each had a glass of champagne. King Ferdinand took a sip of his champaign. "So, we are ready for the celestial Dragon arrival?" Ferdinand asked.

"Just need to clean the streets and we just need to rebuild." Merritt said. "The good doctor should be within our grasp soon if she is not already."

"You found where she has been hiding?"

"Yes, your highness."

The commander's snail started ringing. "This is Commander Merrit speaking."

"So I take it you're the one charge?" The voice asked.

Merrit widened his eyes in shock. "Who is this?" He yelled through the snail.

"Names Leah and I'm a pirate." She announced.

"You idiot!" Multiple voices shouted at her.

Sounds of the receiver being taken from the speaker were heard. "Judging that this snail immediately connected to you Merrit I take it you want to eliminate me, but I don't know why."

Merrit started laughing. "We don't want to kill you."

Duterte was given the snail. "Honoria, I need you to come to the gate of the royal palace."

"I can't I have a duty to the people of Manil need me." The doctor told the king.

"Those 'people' are not the people of Manil." The king said calmly. "Those people that you help just go back to the gutter like rats, we are just put those sad beings to rest."

"Why? They don't deserve..."

"I understand your compassion for those that search for scraps, but as king I have to show the best and only the best of this country and if I have to burn the slums down to show the Celestial Dragons that this country needs clear the trash for those higher than me."

"So, what you're doing is for visitors that will only be their for a couple of weeks?"

The king sighed. "This was the last attempt to get you to get you to safety, our day of rebirth begins."

Duterte hung up the transponder snail. He looked at Merritt. "Start the fire."

Merritt grinned. "Yes, your highness."

Back in the forest near the doctors cabin marines were on the ground and trees either unconscious, or clutching their bleeding legs. Other marines were hanging from tree by there legs. The doctor had a look that was a mixture of anger and panic. They lifted the snail up then slammed the snail on the ground. They were about to run back to the slums until an unknown voice stopped his train of thought. "Halt!"

The doctor and the pirates turned toward the voice to see a large muscular man in a marine uniform with black hair with pig tails at the back. "You all maybe strong enough to take out my men, but now you all now face against me Sergeant Tatsufusa the fastest sword in the West Blue."

Tatsufusa pulled out his sword and started swinging the sword widely around his body. His opponents just looked at him confused. Atlanta, not wanting to wait, got up and charged at him and swung her hammer up sending the marine into the air high enough that what looked like a star blinked.

"We should get moving." William told them.

"Right." The doctor said bewildered while Truffle said dreamily with hearts in her eyes.

"Come on Honoria, we got slums to save." Leah told them.

"Hon, my name is Hon." The doctor told them.

On a marine ship, the captain received a message on the ship's snail. "Alright men, we received our orders, fire on the slums." He ordered.

"Yes sir." The marines said.

The marines then started prepping the canons before firing on the slums. The canons hit the shakes destroying them and killing and injuring the people in the slums. Screams and cries for help were in the air.

In the wealthy area of Manil, the wealthy and middle-class people closed their blinds to keep the sight of the burning slums from view. King Duterte watched as Marine canons and his army burn the slums down. Meriritt drank a glass of water in his office.

Hon and the pirates made their way to the edge of the slums only to see the marines firing canons from their ships and shacks on fire. "We're to late." Hon said in despair.
