Chapter Three

As Bryce directs me to the mountain I arrive at a log cabin with four other cars parked in the rocky driveway but snow has been falling since we were an hour away, now the whole ground is iced and covered with snow. "Great, snow." I sigh. I park the car and turn around and slowly shake Charlie awake. "Charlie, wake up. We're here." I whisper smiling as he begins to grunt. I get out the car and pop the boot of the car; Bryce gets out along with Charlie, who is rubbing their eyes.

I get out a black suitcase, which is Bryce's and I get another bag which is Charlie's and he hands me my bag from the back seat. "Thanks." Bryce and Charlie says as I hand them their bags.

"Yeah, well, should we go see who our roommates are?" I ask nervously and begins to walk, rolling my bag and walking on top of the steps to the cabin. The snow begins to fall even more heavily. I slowly open the door and walk in to see a man lean over a girl as they kiss on the couch and two people are sitting on the other love seat. "Oh." I say awkwardly and they all look up at us and that is when my heart just drops.

It is Audrey, her boyfriend, James, her best friend, Caylee and his best friend, Will. I roll my eyes and look up at the ceiling, where there is a beautiful chandelier made of glass. "Which room is which?" I ask angrily.

"I shoulde have known you were going to be here. Well guys we need to be prepared to starve to death." I keep my eyes on her and she just sighs. "Your rooms are the last three at the end of the hall upstairs." I snatch my bags up and head upstairs.

The whole place is made of wood and is really pretty and as I go up the spiral steps with Charlie and Bryce behind me. As I walk down the hall there pictures of an old family of parents with their two sons. There is something about the pictures that makes me feel uneasy but I finally reach the three bedrooms at the end. "I'll take this bedroom." I say addressing the room to my left. I walk in and it is a huge room, with a queen's size bed, red covers, a bay window, and a burgandy desk is against the wall to the right. I set my bags down and lay on the bed, which is comfortable. This whole month I am going to be stuck with Audrey and her team. Great.

There is a knock at my door and as I look up, Charlie is standing there with a sorrow loo and he knows what I am thinking. He sits on the bed beside me and I put my head on his shoulder, "You okay?" He asks, putting his head down on top of mine.

"Yeah." I whisper and lean back up. "Listen, I just want to explore the mountain some so I am going to take a small walk." I stand up and put my bag on the bed, I unzip it and take out some warm clothes. A blue sweater, jeggings, thick coat, and a scarg with gloves. "Charlie?" I call out as he still sits there.

"Oh, sorry. I still try sometimes."

"Get out of here, you perv." I say pushing him out the door and shutting it.

After getting dressed, I grab a black toboggan and slide it over all my hair and head downstairs. Everybody is still in the same position they were before, except Audrey is in James arms. I storm away from them quickly and head outside, where there is more snow covering the ground; I walk to the left where there is a trail and fence post up blocking the slope hill. I put my hands in my coat pocket and continue to walk. I walk away slowly and look up at the mountains and take in the scenery with the light blue sky shadowing the mountains. Suddenly, I hear a noise from behind that cuases me to turn around quickly but there is nothing there, I stare at nothing for the longest moment but then turn back around and continue to walk.

I walk all the way to then end of a cliff where there is nothing but darkness below but suddenly something catches my eye along the mountain, a quick shadow flies over the mountain. I freeze in my place, just analyzing to see if I could see it again. A hand touches my shoulder, forcefully, and I fall to the groung, letting out a small shriek; I back away quickly. "Hey chubbs." Will says. He has dirty blonde hair, with dark eyes. He is wearing a casual outfit but an extra warm jacket.

"I almost died, you asshole." I say getting up but he grabs my shoulder and helps me up. I yank my arm away and bend down, with my heart still racing. "What were you thinking? Do you not see that cliff?"

"Sorry, I just wanted to see you." He says, desperate, smiling.

I frown and he begins to move closer to me but I back away even more. "Uh, Will, I have to go, before I...become out of...screaming distance." I say but begin to mumble the end and turn around walking away from him fast.

"Wait, Scarlett. I'm not going to murder you, I like you." Will calls out running beside me and begins to walk backwards. "Will you hear me out?"

"No, Will. I will not because calling me chubbs is not the most romantic thing to say." I say giving a sarcastic smile. He keeps walking backwards and staring at me but I walk faster to get away from him until I slip on some ice and fall on my side, hitting my head.

"Are you okay?" Will asks full of concern but I don't answer him, I just stare down at the ground. "Scarlett?"

"Listen, Will. Can you please just leave me alone right now?" I ask in a tired tone. I look up at him, with his face still full of concern and he eyes me and then just nods, walking away.

I raise up, putting my hands around my knees, but begin to feel something warm run down my face. I raise my hand to my head and notice that I am starting to bleed. "Scarlett?" I hear a voice call out and I look up to see Bryce and Charlie running to me.

"What are you doing here?" I ask, wiping my eyes and nose quickly. I go to get up with the assist of Bryce and Charlie on either side of me. "Thanks."

"Woah! What happened?" Charlie asks, angrily and full of concern. He holds my face and lowers it down to see where I am bleeding from. "What did Will do?"

"It's a little cut, I fell on the ice, he didn't do anything." I look down to see some blood along the edge of ice that had formed. "But I do have a funny story about Will." I say in a humorous tone to lighten the mood.
