"(Y/n)?"

"Hm? Yes, Miss Alana?" I replied turning to the orphanage owner, while trying not to disturb the sleeping five-year-old on me.

"I know this is a bit unconventional, but can you please go down to the nearest shop and get some lemons for me?"

I smiled, "Of course, I'd be happy to help." She smiled back at me and I managed to stand up without waking Mia up, who had been sleeping on me. Miss Alana gave me some money and I left the orphanage.

However, on my way back, I got caught up in a situation, I didn't want to be in. Which is what led me to being in the detention centre, "I promise, I didn't kill her! You have to believe me!"

"I trust you, (Y/n). I can tell you'd never do anything like this, you've got a good heart inside of you."

I smiled, "Thank you, Mr Wright. Thank you so much for agreeing to defend me."

------------------------

"(Y/n), this may seem like an odd question, but what is Christmas like at the orphanage?"

I sighed and looked down, not really wanting to talk about it, apparently she got my message, "A-although, you don't have to tell us if you don't want to!"

I ignored her response, "I-it's fine. For me, Christmas is just another day. It's not really special to be honest, every child just gets the same gift each year, as in the same as each other, like we'll all get a pair of pyjamas of something like that, every year, but I guess one fun thing is that each year we all write a wish on a piece of paper and hang it on the tree."

"What do you wish for, (Y/n)?"

"Athena, you don't ask that! If you tell someone what you wished for, it doesn't come true."

"Well, it's always come true, my wish. Every year I ask for at least of the kids in that orphanage to get adopted, and each year it comes true. That's what they all want to, to get adopted. I thought living in a massive house with lots of other children would be fun to be honest, turns out it's not. I'm the oldest one in that orphanage, and when I turned twelve, anything that was remotely 'childish' was taken away from me and given to the younger children, thankfully the only thing that Miss Alana deemed childish was my stuffed (F/A) toy. That was taken away from me and given to one of the smaller children, as I was told, "You're growing up (Y/n), you don't need a stuffed toy to sleep with." before it was cruelly snatched from me, but in fact, although I hate to admit it, even though I am sixteen, I do need something soft to sleep with. I haven't had a good night sleep since my twelfth birthday."

-----------------(25th December)

After the first day of the trial, I was sitting in my cell at the Detention Centre, when a guard came up and caught my attention, "Miss (Y/n)." I looked up from my sitting position on the ground and walked to the door of the cell, "Yes?"

"This was sent for you. It's really against policy that people in here are supposed to get things from the outside, but the sender was insistent of me giving this to you," he replied opening the door to hand me a wrapped box. I smiled and took it from him as he closed the cell door again, "Thank you." He smiled slightly to me and nodded before walking off. I went and sat down on the bed before reading the tag that had been attached, "Happy Christmas, (Y/n)! Hope this gets you through your time in the detention centre! Don't worry I know Mr Wright will get you free! Athena" I smiled happily, knowing that she'd thought of me and carefully unwrapped the paper, as a force of habit, like we'd been told to do at the orphanage, and opened the box to reveal a small stuffed version of a(n) (F/A). I smiled and kissed it's forehead, Thank you, Miss Athena. This is the best Christmas ever. Oh Mia, I wonder how you're coping without me.

------------------------------

"Thank you, Mr Wright. I owe you my life."

"I'm just doing my job, (Y/n), you don't owe me anything."

I then remembered, "Miss Athena?" She turned to me, "Yeah? What do ya need?" Instead of answering I hugged her, "Thank you too. That was the best Christmas present I'd ever had. Thank you so much, it really cheered me up."

"You're welcome squirt! Gotta look out for you."

Before I could say anything else, a hand grabbed my arm and I was being dragged off. I looked up and saw that it is Miss Alana.

---------------------

Once she'd dragged me all the way back to the orphanage and we were inside, she closed the door again and held a hand out in front of me, "(F/A) toy, hand it over." I sighed and placed it in her hand, before walking off to find Mia to tell her I was back.

--------------------

I was a few weeks later, when there was a knock on the door of the room I shared with Mia, "(Y/n)!" I smiled, recognising it was Mia and opened the door, "Mi, you know you don't need to knock, this is your room too."

"I know, but this was important, you have visitors downstairs."

"O-oh? Really?" She nodded, "Come downstairs!" I nodded and let her drag me downstairs, where I saw Mr Wright, Miss Athena and Mr Apollo. I approached the three of them, "Hello?"

"(Y/n)!" Miss Athena squeaked, hugging me. I returned her hug awkwardly as Mr Wright spoke, "(Y/n), we're here to adopt you." Miss Athena let me go and I stared at the three of them blankly, "W-what?"

Before any of them could respond, Miss Alana had interrupted us, "You want to adopt her? Are you sure you don't want someone cuter and younger?" I sighed slightly and turned around, ready to walk off back to mine and Mia's room, but before I could I was stopped by something that Miss Athena said, "No, we don't! We specifically want (Y/n) to come back with us!" I smiled towards her and turned to Mr Wright after catching Mia's eye, "I appreciate the offer, Mr Wright, but I promised Mia I wouldn't leave her alone here, and I can't go back on my promise." I spoke, turning to look at Mia, I was right, I was never going to leave her in this horrible orphanage alone without me, her big sister there for her.

However, before I could I say anything else, I felt a pair of arms wrap around my legs, "(Y/n), you don't have to stay here with me. I'll be fine. You deserve a family that will love you!" I smiled sadly and felt tears coming to my eyes before bending down to her level, "Mia, before they were killed, I made mum and dad a promise, a promise that I'd never ever leave you alone and that I'd protect you even if it killed me in the process. You're my sister and I will keep that promise."

"I love you, Big Sister! But mummy and daddy won't mind if you're leaving me so that you get to have a loving family."

I smiled at her and wiped my tears before turning back to the agency, specifically Mr Wright, "I'm sorry, Mr Wright, but I'm not leaving here without Mia."

Mr Wright smiled at both me and Mia, "Then you both better go and get your stuff packed up." This put a smile on both mine and Mia's faces and I hugged Mr Wright before dashing off upstairs, Mia following me sweet.

When we both got downstairs again with our stuff, Miss Athena turned to me, "(Y/n), do you still have the stuffed (F/A) I gave you?" I froze up slightly and bit my lip, looking down at the floor, "A-about that. I-I'm sorry but it got taken away from me the minute I got back here."

"Mr Wright, permission to flip that b*tch?" Miss Athena asked, motioning to Miss Alana. However, before Mr Wright could respond, Mr Apollo had chimed in, "As long as it's not right on top of me, like you did with that officer when we first met..."

"That was an accident, Apollo! I didn't know you were there!"

"Athena, you are not flipping the owner of this orphanage onto the ground. You and Apollo take (Y/n) and Mia back to the agency, I'll deal with Miss Alana." Miss Athena sighed and took Mia's bag from her, so she was free to run around, and she jumped onto my back, "Piggy Back!" I chuckled and attempted to carry both her and my back but it was a bit of a hard task. However, I soon felt the bag be taken out of my grip. I smiled and thanked Mr Apollo, before adjusting my position to be able to carry Mia properly. The four of us walked out of the orphanage and a few minutes down the road, I thought of something, "Miss Athena, Mr Apollo, what should me and Mia call the two of you now?" However, before either of them could respond, there was two shouts, "Polly!" "Thena!" The two young girls came running up to us and the smaller of the two asked a question, "Polly, who are these two?"

"Trucy, Junie, this is (Y/n) and Mia the two newest members of the agency!"

"That's fantastic! Welcome to the agency family! I'm Trucy!"

----------------------------

"(Y/n), I have something for you." I turned to face him, "What do you need Father?"

"(Y/n), you don't need to be so formal," he replied, ruffling my hair, "You can just call me 'Dad'. But as I was saying, I have something for you." I put down the book I was reading and walked up to him. He then pulled his hands from behind his back to reveal a (F/a) plushie. I smiled and hugged him, "Thank you, but how'd you managed to get her to give it back to you for me?"

"Just a little thing called 'Lawyer Super Powers'." I gave him a deadpanned look and he sighed, "Fine, I told her I'd take the matter to court, of depriving you of the thing that reminded you of your parents and also technically child abuse. Treating you like a-"

"Wright, can I- Why do you have two more 'teenage girls' in your office?"

I turned to the visitor, "Pleasure to meet you, I am (Y/n), and this is Mia. We're the two newest members of the 'Agency Family'! Now, that I've told you our names, what's yours?"

"Miles Edgeworth. Wright, are you ever going to stop just adopting random children?"

Dad looked to me and Mia, then to Polly, and Thena and Trucy, before turning back to Mr Edgeworth, "Only when it's necessary, Edgeworth." I'd have burst out laughing, if Trucy hadn't grabbed my hand and pulled me closer to her, "You see, Daddy has a massive crush on Mr Edgeworth and I know Mr Edgeworth feels the same. Want to help me get them together?"

"How do you know? And yes."

"Normally, I'd say 'a magician never reveals her secrets' but just this once, and as you're my sister now, I'll tell you, I have a little spy on the inside, one 'Great Thief' Kay Faraday. She told me that Mr Edgeworth had a crush on Daddy after she heard him muttering stuff to himself."

I smiled and nodded, "Come on, what's your plan?"

"Simple, push them into each other." I nodded and she snuck up behind Mr Edgeworth and I behind Dad. On the count of three we both pushed them closer together.

---------------------

"So, how'd you get Mr Edgeworth and Mr Wright together?" Kay asked the two of us, a massive grin on her face. I looked to Trucy and smirked before facing Kay again, "We just gave the two of then a little push in the right direction... literally."
