Tiffany's POV:

"Tiffany, I can't seem to find what's wrong with you. You say these pains are like a burning through your chest correct?" Dr Perry tells me,

"Yes, like something is literally burning my chest. That has to mean something right?" I ask and she nods her head,

"Yes. Very likely to be serious but the thing is your chest isn't sore at the moment and the burning isn't happening now, so maybe it has settled down." She tells me and I shake my head,

"Is there anything you can give me other than pain killers?"

"No, not at this moment. I'll be sending you to get an x-ray just to be sure that it isn't anything. Until we find out what exactly it is then we can't give you anything. It could be just heartburn but you have told me that it comes twice every few days within a few hours of each other, so I'm not too sure." She tells me continuing to type at her keyboard and I raise a brow,

"Not too sure, your suppose to be a doctor!" I exclaim and she shakes her head, turning from her computer to look at me,

"This burning in your chest that your describing to me is something I haven't heard of before and it could be heartburn but you can get heartburn more than twice most days. You can also get heart burn from laying down." She turns back to her computer, prints off a piece of paper and signs it, "Here is your x-ray prescription, as soon as you have the x-ray I want you to come back so I can tell you your results and we'll see if anything is wrong." She explains, I sigh in defeat and nod at her,

"See you next week." I say leaving the room, closing the door behind me on the way out. I book another appointment, and head home.

As I leave the surgery I notice a guy that looks awfully familiar leaning against the wall with a pair of RayBan's sitting on his nose. Yea, maybe I am just being paranoid.

I take a few steps until I hear someone calling my name, I turn around and it is the guy that was leaning on the wall or should I say that jerk.

"What do you want Conaway? Are you like following me now?" I ask and he shrugs,

"No. I'm waiting for someone. I didn't know you'll be here when I was." he says with a perfect answer and I just raise a brow,

"Sure you were. Why'd you call out to me then?"

"No reason."

Kyle freaking Conaway is soo freaking annoying.

"Leave me alone then. Didn't I say to not talk to me?" I tell him walking away but I hear him call out,

"Yea you did. I just love annoying you." I can totally hear the smirk in his tone.

"What did the doctor say sweetie?" My mom asks and I shake my head,

"She told me that she doesn't know what the hell is happening to me mom. She said it could be just heartburn but the symptoms aren't the same, the burning is but you get heartburn by freaking lying down and I don't get it while lying down." I tell her and she shakes her head,

"Oh sweetie," Mom comes over and gives me a tight hug, "I'll do some research about heartburn and your burning pain in your chest." Mom tells me with a small sad smile, I know she is really worried about me.

"Ok mom. I'll do some also but first I need to do this homework before I get called out in class about it again." I tell her and she laughs lightly,

"Tiffany, you've got no idea how many times I was called out in class and answered wrong. Oh those were the days." She says laughing to herself. I just shake my head in humor and head upstairs since I finished helping mom prepare dinner and help clean up.

Beep.

Beep.

Beep.

Shut up already! My inner voice moans inside my head, someone shut this damn alarm off.

Knock. Knock.

"Tiffany sweetie, it's time to get up for school if you don't want to be late!" My father says in a sing song tone, he gets up early to go to work and comes back late.

"Argh. Do I have to go to school?" I whine, pulling my pillow from behind me and pushing it to my face.

"Yes. You need to go, you only have nine months left. Time fly's so the more you get school over with, the faster it'll be over. That's what my mother always told me." He says and continues off to the kitchen.

Oh I haven't mentioned the worst part. I have to catch the stupid bus with annoying teenagers chatting loudly at what, seven thirty in the morning, I can barely keep awake if I don't have a bit of caffeine in me or at least some sugar.

Oh I was right once again, the bus was noisy as usual and it's giving me a headache so you can imagine the worse thing to possibly happen was for the burning pain to come while I was on the bus. I bite the inside of my lip and fist my hands really tightly to help get rid of the pain, it wasn't much though since the whole pain was like it was burning my insides.

As soon as the bus stops in the school I rush out before everyone else and run somewhere, where there's no people and that would usually be the back of the hall. I grab my phone out of my bag and quickly text by best friend, Avery, telling her I'll see her in class. I don't need her to worry about me too, mom's already worried sick. I quickly move things around in my bag and look for the pain killers, which have seemed to fall to the bottom of my bag, pop two out and take a swig of water swallowing them. They obviously don't work straight away but the pain starts to lessen. The bell rings and I quickly rush to get to home room.

Just as I slam my locker door shut a face pops up,

"Tiffany! Where were you this morning? I thought you weren't here today and then I found out from Tessa that you were here today." Avery says in a rush and I smile slightly, her brown hair bouncing up and down,

"Av, did you at least check your phone this morning before school?" I ask watching her expression change to a guilty one and she quickly unzips her bag, looking for her phone I'm guessing.

"Uhh, no. I might have forgotten to, oops." She says sheepishly and I laugh lightly,

"It's ok, really. Now come on before all the good stuff goes."

Once we were seated at our usual seats outside the cafeteria, we start to talk about random stuff until she asks,

"So, have you met that really hot guy yet? What's his name? Kyan... Kylan... Ky-"

"Kyle. Yes and he is soo freaking annoying." I say rolling my eyes while hers widen,

"You mean you've met him? Omgosh gurl, you forgot to tell me, your best friend about some really hot guy you've spoken too. I'm disappointed in you." She playfully glares at me and I shrug,

"Sorry Av, I'm just not interested in hot guys at the moment... and I'm not saying I'm batting for the other team or anything, cause I totally respect your relationship with your newest girlfriend, what was her name again?" I ask and she instantly smiles,

"Mia. The super hot college girl and oh my gosh, she's got hottie best friends... that are guys." She tells me with that look she gives me, waggling her eyebrows at me. She goes for both genders and I'm totally cool with that,

"No. No freaking way. Avery there is no way your setting me up again, I don't feel like having another awkward date even though that guy was cute but all he wanted from me was sex. There is not going to be anymore blind dates." I tell her and she shakes her head,

"But you will like this guy, even Mia agrees with me." She says with a small smile and I shake my head,

"No. I'm sorry Avery but there is no freaking way."

Rinnnngggggg.

"Oh, look at that. I have to go Av, but we'll talk about this later." I say collecting my things and getting up but before I completely leave my best friend I call back, "No blind dates." I say eyeing her warily and she nods but I can tell she's trying not to smile and I know what she's up to.

I leave it as that and leave completely out of sight. Until I hear a voice I didn't want to hear at all today,

"Tiff, where are you going? We have CW now." Kyle says and I roll my eyes. My name is Tiffany not Tiff, why does he keep calling me that.

"CW?" I ask raising a brow and he smirks,

"Creative Writing."

"Right, well I guess I'll have to see your annoying face there." I say and walking quickly away from him. But he calls,

"Not if I see you there first."

"Ok, class. So today I'll be handing back to you your results from your last paper, and let me say some of them are really good, a little improvement needed but they were good." Mr Trench says and I just tap my foot lightly on the floor but then I hear an annoying, click, click, click of a freaking pen.

"Will you stop that." I hiss at the person sitting next to me and he smirks,

"Does it annoy you that much?" He asks me, looking directly into my eyes.

"Yes."

Click. Click. Click.

I just realise my mistake.

"Conaway, stop clicking the freaking pen." I hiss really frustrated now,

"Tiffany, you did really well. Keep up the good work." Mr Trench says, placing my sheet on the table. I take it and look at my score with a large smile at the red sharpie, eighteen out of twenty with a comment saying my grammar needs a little work but over all, well done. But I already knew my grammar needs more work, I'm not a professional.

"Kyle, great work." Mr Trench says placing Kyle's paper down and I see the number in red sharpie, "One of our top students."

I gulp. Kyle got full marks, you have got to be kidding me. I flick my eyes back to my sheet reading though my paper to see what needs work, and I see some words are spelled incorrectly or some other error but mostly incorrect spelling. I was never good at English, another subject I do but I always loved using my imagination for a new story that could be written.

"Congratulations Tiff." Kyle says and I roll my eyes,

"Right back at you." I say flatly, not even looking at him.

Suddenly another burning pain in my chest hits me and I bend over holding my chest, breathing in and out. I feel a gaze on me but I ignore it,

"Tiff, are you ok?" Kyle asks sounding worried, I glance up and see that his eyes say the same thing, that he's worried.

"I'm fine." I grumble, still holding my chest tightly,

"Tiffany. Is everything alright?" Mr Trench asks from the front of the room, I look up and try to smile but can't, "Maybe you should go to the nurses office."

"No I'll be o-"

"That wasn't a suggestion. Kyle can you take her." He asks looking at Kyle and he nods,

"Yea, no problem." He says collecting his stuff and then mine, I go to tell him off for touching my stuff but the burning starts to get worse. I quickly get up leaving Kyle behind with my stuff and start my way to the nurse's room.

Half way there I start to feel a little light headed but ignore it since I'm going to the nurse's office anyway, I can hear heavy footsteps somewhere behind me but I ignore it and carry on but soon my hearing starts to fade, my eyelids start to feel heavy but I try to fight it but I can't seem to be able to, soon all I see is black and feel my body fall to the ground.

"-It's happening too soon... no, no it can't be, can it... it just seems to get worse and worse... no, I'm telling you it's too soon, if it gets worse they will detect it and come looking for her... what am I suppose to do... no I can-" A voice that sounds really familiar says but my hearing fades out to hear the rest of the conversation. My eyes flutter open and the room is mostly white with bright lights, I close my eyes again since the lights are sorta blinding me.

Where am I? My head hurts and I feel really tired. The last thing I remember is walking to the nurse's office and hearing footsteps behind me, which would have been Kyle since Mr Trench asked him to take me... That was Kyle on the phone, I'm sure of it.

"Like I said, it's too soon and I can't do anything yet... alright, alright. I'll have to if it gets worse... fine, I got to go... yea bye." The same voice says. I hear a door open and footsteps, I quickly shut my eyes and try to calm my breathing, acting like I'm still asleep.

I slowly flutter my eyes open and look around the room, acting like I just woke up. I see Kyle watching me carefully,

"Conaway?" I ask, my voice all groggy. "Where am I?"

"The nurse's office. Are you feeling ok?" He asks taking a seat beside me, I nod.

"I'm just really tired. Am I able to leave now?" I ask and he suddenly looks panicky,

"No. You need to rest, you also have to take these. There pain killers." He says looking at the wall behind me,

I look at the substance in his hands and raise a brow. The tablets he holds are blue and look like they have a liquid in them. I take them in my hands cautiously and inspect them,

"Are you sure these are pain killers?" I ask him, "Cause they don't look like the ones the nurse normally gives out." Still staring at the two pills cautiously.

"They are pain killers. Just take them Tiff." He says annoyed,

"My name is Tiffany, not Tiff." I grumble putting the pills in my mouth swallowing them with a glass of water. Suddenly I feel really really tired, I fight the urge to fall asleep.

"Are you sure tha-" I get cut off, seeing only black for the second time today.

Kyle's POV:

"Kyle, did you do it?" My brother Tyler asks me and I roll my eyes,

"What do you think Ty? Of course, she's knocked out though." I say into the phone,

"Kyle, you need to understand that it had to be done. She will be up within an hour. You needed to give her those pills, she needed to be out of pain and those pills won't work forever. You realise her power will take over sooner or later. Anything bad can happen, it can get out of control even."

"And by bad you mean getting taken and killed all for this power growing in her body."

"Yes. Kyle you have to listen to me, those pills you give her won't suppress the burning for more than twenty four hours. Do you have more of them? Cause you need to give her the rest telling her their pain killers."

"Ty, I only have four left. That will suppress it for seventy two hours. Three days Ty, three freaking days."

"That will do for now, do you have a suspect yet?" He asks me and I look around frustrated,

"Yea, I do. He seems to be following her, watching her. But he hasn't made a move yet, so I'm just waiting. I'll be keeping guard of her for now,"

"But you do realise that if anything does happen you have to bring her back here. And whatever you do, don't get caught."

"Yes I realise that. He won't know, since I enrolled as a student here at her school and I've been watching both Tiffany and them. Look I have to go, this isn't the most safest place to be talking about this."

"Ok, just keep low profile."

With that he hangs up. Still leaning on the wall of the school building, I look around cautiously acting natural, my RayBan's sitting on my nose. A black van is parked behind the trees of the school car park, and I know they are here watching the school. Too bad they can't detect that she's here with the pills I gave her, although they might have their suspicions. I'm only here to help keep Tiffany safe and by keeping my real identity hidden, she will be for the time being.
