68. COME WITH ME

68. COME WITH ME

Darian had noticed the change in Lena's mood since he brought her back into the house. She laughed more, talked more to him, and even contributed to his discussion with Jay.

He was yet to call a sit-down for the family, but he planned to do it soon. He wanted Lena to get better so that she could go with him whenever he called the meeting for all members of the family.

"Lena," Darian stared at his wife who was busy with something on her phone. Flipping her hair, she tilted her head to his side. "I want you to come somewhere with me," he said.

"Where could that be?" She walked through the room, turning towards the window. She pulled up the curtains and fed her eyes with the beautiful evening sun that faintly penetrated the window blinds. "It's late already, where do you want us to go?" She asked, her eyes still gawking at the sun. She nodded her head, subconsciously agreeing with the fact that nature was indeed very beautiful.

"Somewhere I used to visit in the evening before we got married." He walked closer to where she stood, his arms encircling her tiny waist. They both watched the disappearing sun until it was replaced with a half moon. "So, will you like to come with me?"

Lena hesitated. Then she thought again, she had been indoors for weeks. Not really had the time to explore because she'd been locked up and brooding. But things were getting better with her, going with Darian wasn't a bad idea.

"Will I like it there?" She gasped when Darian's wet lips made contact with her neck.

"Maybe you would, let's give it a trial. Shall we?" He spun her around, pulling her closer to his chest. He smiled and mashed a kiss on her forehead. "Let's go," he said.

"Not like this though, I will change my clothes." She asserted, swishing her fingers in his face. "Go change too," after scanning him, she changed her mind. "You don't have to change! You look hot in those slacks." She winked at him, taking some steps closer to her wardrobe. Rummaging through, she didn't find something suitable. "Is it like a date or just a casual evening outing?" She questioned him.

"A walk, we are taking a walk down the street." He said to her.

"Er, a walk?" She squinted.

"We can go with the car if that's what you want," he quickly chirped in when he noticed the tentative expression on her face.

"A walk is fine," she turned back to her wardrobe. "And now I can't find something to wear." She groaned, her eyes shimmering.

"You do not have something to wear?" Darian scoffed, taking a step toward her. "And all these are what?" He asked, pointing towards her wardrobe that was crammed with clothes of various kinds. "Are they not clothes?" He shook his head. Sometimes women were hard to understand. "We can order clothes online if you don't have anyone to wear," he said softly.

Lena snickered, "We don't have to do that. I will make do with something here." She concluded.

"The clothes you have on are good too," Darian said, his eyes ogling her body from her hair to the sole of his feet. She was on a pair of black bum shorts and a white tank top. Her hair was sprawled across her shoulders, she looked so natural, yet so cute.

"Are you sure about this?" Lena confirmed by standing in front of the full-length mirror. She combed her hair with her fingers and looked at Darian. "Maybe you are right,"

"You are always beautiful. I guess I am a lucky man to have you."

Lena smiled, his words melting her heart.

"Are you ready?"

"Yeah, just a minute." She bent to fix her socks and slip her slides on. When she was all done, she extended her hand to Darian. He smiled, clasping his palm with hers.

He felt a wave of excitement throbbing in his chest when he took Lena's hands.

"Are the bodyguards coming with us?" She asked before they left the room.

"Yes, they are." Talking about the bodyguards reminded him to take his gun along with him. Something odd might occur out there, he had to be vigilant. He walked over to the vanity mirror and pulled out the drawer attached to it. He picked up his pistol, loading it with some bullets.

Lena flinched, she didn't like it when she saw the gun in his hands, but she understood it was meant for protection.

"Can you teach me how to use a gun?" She asked Darian when he slipped the gun into his pocket.

Darian's eyes widened, "Why, do you plan to kill someone?" Fear was evident in his eyes, he hoped she didn't want to do something bad.

"No, I don't plan to kill anyone. I just want to learn how to pull the trigger, can you teach that?" She pouted her lips, batting her eyelashes to persuade him.

"I can't do that, Lena. Our women are not allowed to use guns." He stated bluntly, infuriating Lena.

"Your women?" She bit the inside of her cheeks in irritation. "This is not about your women, it is about you and me, Darian. I want this, you should be decisive about it, not giving an excuse that women of the Dawson family are not allowed to use a gun.".

Darian detected fury in her tone, but he wouldn't let that last. "I will think about it." He simply said.

"And do let me know what you decide on." She smiled. She took his hand, steering him out of the bedroom. "I have decided to resign from the casino." She suddenly told him.

"I knew it, I knew you would make this choice, but you do know that the women of the Dawson family are not allowed to work for someone else." His voice was stern.

"Another of your rules, I know them all, don't worry, but I do not wish to follow them anymore."

"We will discuss this when we are back," he said to her. Grabbing her hands firmly in his, he led the way out of the living room.
