110. ARE YOU SCARED OF ME?

Lena was sleeping when Darian got back into the hotel room. It was very late in the night and she had waited all day for him to show up. She called several times but he didn't pick up. Knowing that he'd be busy, she just had to wait for him.

Darian had gotten a call from the Doctor who was in charge of his mother's treatment. It should be good news that she had awakened from coma, but it kind of saddened him. He tapped Lena and she groaned, tossing on the bed.

"Lena,"

She opened her eyes to see Darian staring at her with sad eyes. She was mad at him for leaving her all alone all day, but she didn't like the expression on his face either.

"I am back," he smiled at her but she didn't return it. "And I am sorry for keeping you waiting, I had to deal with everything and guess what?" He asked, grinning sheepishly.

"You snatched the contract from your rival?" She let out a soft yawn.

"How did you know that?"

"I am not dumb, Darian." She rubbed her eyes with her thumbs. When her vision was clearer, she sat on the bed, yawning again.

"I know you are not." He smiled.

"Was there an attack?" She queried, checking his body out to see if he had sustained any injury. Darian smiled, he grabbed her hands and kissed her cheeks. "I was just worried about you."

"I am fine, Lena. There was nothing at all. I had the upper hand there and he just had to lower his guards. He didn't attack me, my men were more than his men and he's scared of dying too." He laughed easily like killing was nothing to him, and that bothered Lena. She looked at her husband. The thought of Darian being a killer made her heart sink.

"Darian, how many people have you ever killed?" She suddenly asked when he was undoing the buttons of his shirt.

She had never asked him that, she never really talked about it. He knew she would ask him someday, even though she had been avoiding it all this while.

"Lena, you want to know how many people I have killed?" There was a grim expression on his face.

"I know that you are the Mafia Lord and you have to kill people, but it bothers me sometimes. I think about it and Darian, is there no way you can stop killing people? Is there no other way to deal with them than taking their lives?"

Guilt surged through him, he got so weak instantly. He couldn't stand that Lena would see him as a killer, it broke his soul. He took her hand and looked into her eyes. "Are you scared of me? Do you think I am a heartless person or a murderer?" He was scared of what her responses would be but even as scared as he was, he needed to know what she really thought about him.

"You are my husband, Darian and I love you. I understand the fact that no one is perfect, but I do know that you are a good man. You've proven that to me many times, but I wish you didn't have to kill people."

"I have a lot of people who wouldn't think twice before they pull the trigger to my head. And sometimes it just has to be done, I have to kill them to save myself." He rubbed his fingers against his head, an indication that he was worried. "Are you scared of me? Are you scared that I will hurt you someday?" Lena said no words to him. "Hey, I can never hurt you, Lena. I will die before I let anything happen to you. It's my duty as the Don and I can't run from it."

She could see the guilt in his eyes. That wasn't what she wanted to see when she asked him that question, but she also found it cool that he could get vulnerable in front of her. It showed that she really had a hold on him and that he cherished her so much.

"I am not scared of you, Darian. If I was, I wouldn't be so close to you." She smiled at him.

"I don't want you to be scared of me, there are days that I will act scary but know that I will never hurt you." He kissed the top of her head. "Aren't you mad at me?"

"I am," she folded her arms against her chest, her eyes gleaming with irritation that caused him to chuckle. "I was alone all day and was missing you so much." She whined.

"I am here now," he pulled her closer, running his fingers through her hair. "I missed you too, you were on my mind the whole time. I just wanted to see you. Did you eat?" She shook her head in response. "Why not?" He frowned.

"I wanted to eat with you. We can call them to bring us food if you are hungry." Lena looked at him.

"Do you want to eat?"

"No, it's almost midnight. I can't eat now." She hit his chest lightly, hugging her hand around his neck.

"Do you want to eat, are you famished?"

Darian chuckled, "You don't know what I want to eat, Lena."

"Common, don't be naughty." She freed herself from his hold but he didn't let her go. "Darian," she let out giggles as he tickled her sides. "Let go of me." She laughed hard but he didn't let go.

"I have not eaten you and you are screaming out loudly. What will happen if I decide to eat you tonight?"

He got a notification from Jay, reminding him about his mother. He suddenly stopped smiling and let go of Lena.

"What's wrong with you?"

"Lena," he took her hand, staring intently into her eyes. "I want you to come with me."

"To where? Where do you want me to go with you?" She asked, twinkling her eyes in curiosity.

"To see my mother." He responded, exchanging a meaningful glance with his wife.

Lena scoffed, it was late already.
