130. FAMILY DINNER

"Darian," Lena called. She had noticed how he trailed off when she was talking to him about the reports she got from the Doctor earlier at the hospital. He looked at her with an expressionless face. "What's wrong with you?" She lowered the baby's onesie on the bed and sat next to Darian.

"Lena," he called dryly.

"What happened when I was away? Did you talk with Isabella?"

"Yes, I did," Darian replied. "She wants to leave the house."

"Why would she want to leave the house? Did you say anything that prompted that decision?" She glared at him, knowing what Darian could do.

He shook his head, narrowing his eyes on her. "I wanted to have a conversation with her and the first thing she said to me was that she wanted to leave the house."

"Is that why you are moody?"

"No, Lena. I am not moody, I am fine. There is a lot on my mind. But come here," He motioned to his lap. She crawled into his lap and rested her head on his back.

"What's it that you are thinking about, my love?"

Darian chuckled. Stroking her hair, he said. "My mother is in a mess because she lost my father and me. You know, she told me the story of how my father meant the whole world to her and I am so scared, Lena. I don't want us to end up like them."

"We can't, you are married to me and that's generally accepted by everyone in the Dawson family. They were against their relationship, that was why they ended up this way." She said to him, "What do you think, Darian?" She looked up at him.

"He failed, he should have tried harder to win her over," Darian said in a bored tone.

"If you were in his shoes, what would you do?"

"Lena, I am certain that I wouldn't give up on you. If I were in my father's shoes and you are the woman, I would never give up on you, I will fight hard until you become mine and I don't care what happens in the process." Darian declared, causing Lena to blush. "I love you and I can't let you go, never."

Smiling, she ran her fingers through his chin. "I can't let you go too. I can't live without you in my life, I will cease to exist if I lose you."

"I know, I know you love me that much." He said teasingly. "So, what did the Doctor say about our baby?"

"Healthy, I have been taking good care of myself." She winked at him.

"When can you listen to the baby's heartbeat?"

"He said he would let me know about that. I really can't wait to listen to the heartbeats of my baby."

"Our baby," Darian corrected her. "The baby is ours, not yours alone." He smiled and gently placed a soft kiss on her cheek. "Thank you, Lena."

"Now, you don't want me to work because I am pregnant." Lena folded her arms on her chest, cutely pouting her lips. Darian couldn't resist her cuteness, he drew her close and kissed her.

"I will not let you stress our little angel,"

"Working is not stressful, I know I can handle it." She whined, but Darian's mind had been made up a long time ago. He didn't have plans of making her work. Ever since she stopped attending the casino, Darian wanted her to stay at home while he worked hard for them and provide her with all the things that she needed. But Lena didn't like the idea of being a housewife, she had always dreamt of being a career woman, but being a wife to the mafia boss leader had hindered her from getting some of the things she loved done but she had no choice. "I can make do with online jobs, I told you before, Darian. There are a lot of online jobs that are so easy for me to delve into."

"Lena, I have told you to stop talking to me about that. We will fix something up for you later in the future but for now, let's focus on the baby."

She didn't protest, she just stared at him and shook her head. "We haven't shopped baby's things. We need to do that as soon as possible."

"But we don't know the gender yet."

"Yes, it doesn't matter." She hurried out of bed to get the baby's clothes she got on her way home. She showed them to Darian and he smiled, he envisioned the baby being a girl and how beautiful she looked like Lena. He was certain the baby would take his and Lena's features and they are going to make a perfect baby.

"When should we start shopping for clothes?" He asked her and she smiled. She loved how Darian always listened to her. "And which gender should we buy more?"

"We can start whenever you are ready. I think we should do more female clothes. I have a feeling that our baby will be a girl and you are quite aware of the fact that my instinct doesn't lie to me. So, Darian, let's do more of girls' things."

"Agreed, how do you feel? Are there cramps on your body or something?"

"I feel good,"

"I see that you are."

"Darian, I think we should have a family dinner."

"Why do you think so?" He blinked his eyes, confused about what she was talking about.

"I do not like the fact that you haven't been on good terms with your mother. Darian, I do know that you care about her and that's why you brought her home with us."

"Maybe, I do." He nodded his head nonchalantly.

"The family dinner will be nice, we can get to talk all about what she needs to know."

"I think we've done that before and it didn't end well for me." Darian looked at her and smiled. "She wanted to know how and where I got to know that she's my mother."

"Then prove it to her."

"That's what I will do it." Darian smiled, nodding his head.
