Annabeth POV
Yep. I totally never done that before.
But now I'm on a plane to New Rome College.
It's pretty sick, with a lounge and all.
They said that there was a principal named "Reyna" or something and I was like..."WHAT?!" I knew a Reyna in Goode, and she took Percy away.
Dang.
"So...what's she like?!" I asked. I was desperate to know...
"Uh...black hair...uh...grand posture...uh...she's twenty four." The pilot said.
Oh my gosh. It's her.
"Okayyyyyyyyyy."
Just then, the plane landed. I climbed out, and she herself came to greet me.
"Welcome to New Rome College." She said.
"Reyna? Is that...you?" I asked.
Her eyes narrowed. "Are you...Annabeth? What are you doing here?!" She cried.
"University, duh." I muttered.
"Oh. But just saying, I'm sorry about Percy, and all. But-"
"Say no more. I understand."
"Thanks. Welcome to New Rome, but have any questions?" She asked.
"Aren't you just twenty-four?" I asked.
"Yeah, but I got my teacher degree early. So, want me to show you around?"
I nodded gratefully.
As she showed me around, I saw a bunch of my old friends there. Jason, Piper, Leo...oh no. I craned my neck to get a better view of a certain boy.
He had messy black hair. Sea-green eyes, and a growing mouth. Fury glimmered in the expression.
Then, he looked this way, and I ducked.
He swore, and went back to what he was doing.
No. I was sure. It was Perseus Jackson. The one who wanted to obtain me.
No. And just my luck, couldn't, like, say, Nico be here?!
Even though I knew they were gone, I still wished to see Thalia and Luke.
"What are you doing here, Princess?" Someone sneered.
I turned.
Piper stood there, her arms crossed.
"Piper McLean. Do I look like I want to be harassed right now?" I asked, exasperated. One more step, and I'd lose my patience.
"Don't talk to my girlfriend that way, you brat!" Someone declared.
Jason stood there in all his surfer-dude glory, and I rolled my eyes. Jason Grace could be so protective of his girlfriend.
"I just told her to stop! Remind me, why do you hate me so much?!" I cried.
They looked down. Then Leo spoke up.
"Look...Percy told us...that-"
"You believe him?" I asked, incredulous.
"Well, duh. He's my friend." Jason said.
Then, Piper took my arm.
I tried to shake her off, but her grip was as firm as steel.
"Can we...talk?" She asked.
"What for?" I asked. I was feeling really...nightmarish. My heart was beating, and my hand was pale. A symptom of PTSD.
"You know. In the washroom, privately?" She begged.
I saw desperation gleaming in her eyes.
"Fine." I said.
She led me into the girls washroom.
"Annabeth...I'm sorry." She started.
I was getting angry. Oh, now she was sorry?
"YOU JUST REALIZED?!" I screeched.
"Yeah...uh...Percy-he told us that you were working for some evil organization. He said-said that you are a real brat, and are toxic to be around." She said.
I don't know I'd that was an insult or a complement. Intoxicating was one of the last words I'd use to describe myself.
"And you-"
"At first I refused to believe. Then Jason told me it was true. And Leo pressed me. And finally, I caved." She muttered.
"Piper...why didn't you come to me earlier?!" I asked.
"I was afraid. And I couldn't find you. Jason's been more possessive these days, and more...well...ferocious. He-" Her voice caught. "He gave me this."
She lifted a bit of her shirt, and there was a bruise on her stomach.
"Piper!" I cried. "Call the police! He's abusing you!"
She shook her head. "What about you?"
"I-" But my voice betrayed me. I just sat, and sobbed.
"The past few years of my life was pure hell."
