Chapter 90

With the arrival of Fleur's parents, the Burrow has only gotten more busier. Yet, some things stay the same. Molly keeps giving everyone tasks, but luckily for the Weasley kids, Fleur's parents insist on helping around as much as possible.

I, on the other hand, am still running around the house – much to Fred's dismay. He and George have closed down the shop for the wedding and have found themselves with too much free time on their hands. It results in them being a bit insufferable.

On the morning of Harry's birthday when I have woken everyone up, I'm on my way down to the kitchen but Fred stops me on the second floor. Blocking the way, Fred crosses his arms in front of his chest and smirks at me. I roll my eyes at him and place my hands on my hips.

"Fred, I need to-"

"No," Fred answers, his smirk only growing.

"Oh, come on, Fred. I need to do it for your mother, you know how she has been the last couple of-"

"No."

"Fine," I huff, "What do you want then?"

The smirk slowly changes into a sly grin. "Now we're talking. I would like a kiss."

Annoyed, I look at my boyfriend, "You want a kiss? Alright, you can have a kiss."

"It has to be a real kiss."

I sigh and Fred's grin widens. Before I can take a step towards him, George runs past from out of the bedroom, muttering something about 'how he doesn't need to see this'. Fred and I both laugh and Fred quickly takes a step forward and wraps his arms around me. I cup his cheeks and press my lips against his.

When our lips part, I see Fred smile and he looks very proud of himself. With a smile, I ask: "Happy? Can I now, please, go downstairs? Your mother will think I got murdered on my way back down."

Fred hums but lets me go. I press another kiss on his lips before making my way downstairs. When Fred and I enter the kitchen, Bill and Mr Delacour are already seated at the table. Mr Delacour is rambling in French and from the look on Bill's face, he's only understanding half of the words. Bill has been trying his best to learn French and requested me and Fleur to speak basic French to him. Clearly, it's not enough yet to keep up a conversation with his father-in-law.

When Molly looks up from her checklist, I smile at her: "Everyone is awake. Harry said he'll be down in a minute."

Ten minutes later, Harry enters the kitchen with Ron and Hermione on his heels. Molly immediately gestures to the presents on the table.

"Happy seventeenth birthday, Harry, also on behalf of Arthur."

Harry sits down with a big smile and reaches for the first present to unwrap. After a few presents, he is handed a big box by George who grins at Harry before sharing a look with Fred. The large box contains different types of candy and other joke products. George proudly explains when Harry holds one of them up: "Those are our newest inventions. Feel free to tell us what you think about them."

I eye the big bag of sweets Harry has placed down in order to look at the other products in the box. They look like normal sweets, but you never know with the twins.

"Are those Muggle candies or Weasley candies?

The grins on the faces of the twins grow and Harry looks up from the small package he was holding. George – upon seeing the look on my face – laughs nervously and tells Harry: "You might want to avoid the purple ones."

I raise an eyebrow.

"Or the green ones," Fred adds quickly, "And the yellow ones too."

Ron has picked up the bag and Harry looks at the bag with a frown.

"You know what, let me take that from you. There is plenty of other non-Weasley candy in there," George says, snatching the bag out of Ron's hands.

After breakfast, I attempt to have Mrs Delacour decide which type of liquor needs to be served at the wedding reception before heading upstairs in search of the twins as Molly needs their help. As I pass Ron's room, I see Hermione, Ron, and Harry seated together, discussing something. Before I can say something, Harry looks up and closes the door. I shake the feeling off, those three are up to something.

When I return to the kitchen after finding Fred and George, I bump into a familiar, red-haired boy.

"Charlie!" I say, delighted.

"Hey Elena," Charlie smiles, "Still hanging about?"

We hug briefly and I laugh, "I don't think Fred is planning on letting me go anytime soon. Not that I'm complaining."

"Damn right," Fred's voice comes from the doorway. Before Charlie has the chance to respond, Fred is pushed outside by Molly, and Charlie is directed to take a seat in a chair so Molly can cut his hair for the wedding. Taking it as my cue to leave, I wish Charlie good luck before heading off to find Fleur.

That evening, we have a small party to celebrate Harry's birthday. Fred, George, and Charlie have pushed a few tables together outside and have charmed a few lanterns to flow around with the number 17 on them. Molly has found the time in her day to bake Harry a cake in the shape of a giant Golden Snitch (where she found the time remains a mystery).

Around seven o'clock, the few guests invited arrive. Tonks and Remus are the first and after congratulating Harry, Tonks makes her way over to me and Fleur. Remus avoids my gaze and takes a seat on the other side of the table. I ignore him as well and smile at Hagrid who is deep in conversation with Charlie about dragons.

Fred heads over to where I'm seated with Tonks, Fleur, and George. He is holding two glasses and hands one to me when he has taken a seat. George sips his Butterbeer and eyes his mother suspiciously: "Where could Dad be? He's never so late and Mum looks like she is going crazy."

George is right. Molly, deep in conversation with Mrs Delacour, continuously eyes the garden fence every few seconds. Fred shrugs, "If Dad doesn't show up soon, I'm starting on that cake whether or not anyone agrees."

I nudge Fred's side as he and George snicker. My boyfriend grins widely and presses a kiss on my temple. Tonks and Fleur laugh as well but before anyone can say something, a light flash travels through the garden. In front of Molly, it changes shape and turns into a silver weasel.

"I'm bringing the Minister for Magic," it speaks in Arthur's voice.

Tonks stands up at the same moment Remus does at the other end of the table. They apologize to Harry before Tonks hugs me and Fleur. Remus says something about it being better if they aren't here when the Minister himself is going to visit before leading Tonks out of the garden.

Confused, I look at Fred and George: "Why would the Minister for Magic visit-"

I'm cut off by Arthur who enters the garden with an older wizard following him. Silence falls over the gathered witches and wizards. The older wizard nods at everyone before turning to Harry and apologizing for interrupting the party. His voice is raspy when he speaks: "I would like to speak with you, privately. It would be nice if Mr Ronald Weasley and Ms Hermione Granger could join us."

George snickers in his glass and sing-songs softly so only me, Fred, and Fleur can hear: "Guess who's in trouble."

The three teenagers follow the Ministry for Magic into the house and disappear inside. From the corner of my eye, I see Molly and Arthur exchange worried glances. They wait for the four to have disappeared into the house before Molly stands up and pulls Arthur with her towards the Burrow.

The conversation the Minister for Magic wanted to have with Harry, Ron, and Hermione doesn't take long, and soon after, the Minister limps back to the garden fence. He nods at all of us once before disappearing. Not soon after, the trio with Arthur and Molly return to the table.

After dinner, Hermione shows me the book she has received from the Ministry. As I browse through the book, I remark surprised: "It's in Runes."

"Yes," Hermione sighs, "It will take me a while to translate it all, I think."

I close the book and trace the title on the front with my fingers. Frowning, I ask: "Do you think it contains something secret? It's quite an old book."

Hermione shrugs, "It took the Ministry thirty-one days to make sure it doesn't. I'm not expecting anything."

Fleur eyes the books curiously and remarks: "Zis book looks like zose fairy-tale books we 'ad at Beauxbatons."

I agree with her and Hermione eyes the book with renewed interest.

After dinner, most guests leave, only Hagrid stays as he's attending the wedding tomorrow. He mutters something about setting up his tent before bidding us a good night. After helping Molly rearrange the garden once more, everyone goes their own way. George leaves me and Fred alone since he has some mail to answer while Ron and Harry return to Ron's room. Hermione follows Ginny and Charlie and Bill head to their shared room. Gabrielle and Fleur follow their parents upstairs.

Fred sigh and entwines our hands: "I am so happy if this wedding is over – I can't handle so many people around for any longer."

I laugh at his expression. Fred snatches a bottle of Fire Whiskey from the table and pulls me from my seat and deeper into the garden.

It's past midnight according to the clock in the kitchen when Fred and I sneak back into the house. Everyone is dead asleep as we make our way upstairs. Fred bumps into a few suitcases piled on top of one another, causing them to fall over, and I have to suppress a giggle.

We freeze in our steps to listen if anyone has woken up by the noise and when Fred is sure nobody is coming to check out the noise, he grabs my wrist and pulls me along with him. As quietly as we can, we sneak into the bedroom we share with Fred and quickly change into our pajamas before slipping into bed.

Placing my head on Fred's chest hearing his heartbeat, I mutter: "I love you, Fred."

Just before I fall asleep, I feel Fred pressing akiss on my hair and answering: "I love you too."
