Chapter 106

George offers his arm to Flora and Fred wraps his arm around my waist. I barely have the time to grab his coat before he apparates us away. When I open my eyes again, we are standing in a small, humid room. I frown when the smell of mold fills my nose. George and Flora appear a moment later and from upstairs, I hear some voices.

Fred places a hand on the lower part of my back and lightly pushes me towards the stairs. Carefully trying not to bump my head against the low ceiling, I climb up the old stairs. After walking through the door at the end of it, I step into a familiar-looking pub. An older wizard is standing in the corner but I hear a girl gasp and when I turn my head, I spot Ginny.

"Hello there, Elena," I hear someone say and after hugging Ginny, I see Lee who flashes me a smile. The man standing behind him mutters something about a peaceful night and with a shake of his head, he walks to a painting of a young woman who smiles at him. The man pulls the painting open like some sort of door and on the other side of the painting appears a dark tunnel. Lee thanks the older wizard before climbing into the tunnel.

"Thank you," I smile at the older wizard while walking past him to the tunnel where Ginny has also disappeared into. With Fred's help, I climb up and begin to walk into the darkness. Halfway, I hear Fred behind me whisper: "I am right behind you, love."

At the end of the tunnel, I see light and when I reach the other end, I end up in a room filled with students, hammocks, and three banners on the wall: Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff, and Gryffindor. I notice the green banner of Slytherin is missing and wonder if this is some sort of hide-out.

"Aberforth begins to get grumpy," Fred says while he greets the group of students with a wave of his hand, "He would like to sleep, but people keep marching through his pub."

Around us, students laugh and I spot a brown-haired girl among them. "Hermione!"

Hermione looks up and when she sees me, she rushes towards me. Hugging her tightly, I ask the younger witch: "How have you been? Are you alright?"

"What is the plan, Harry?" George asks Harry who looks a bit confused to see us all here. Harry shakes his head and says with a stern voice: "There is no plan."

"So we will see when the time comes?" Fred interrupts while his characteristic smile appears on his face. He looks at me, winks, and remarks to Harry: "That's the spirit!"

Hermione steps away from me to Ron and Harry. Around me, different students begin to discuss a plan of attack and from the corner of my eye, I see Ron and Harry discuss something with Hermione. Besides me, I notice Flora look around with furrowed eyebrows at some of the students. When I follow her gaze, I notice quite a lot of students have injuries.

On the other side of me, Fred and George are telling jokes to the students that are standing next to them. The students laugh a bit harder than appropriate, and I suddenly realize they must have been hiding here for quite a while. Amycus and Alecto must have been punishing them as Neville told me during Halloween.

"Alright!" Harry calls out and everyone becomes quiet again, "We need to find something that is located here at Hogwarts. We think it has something to do with Rowena Ravenclaw."

His eyes shift to me and a couple of Ravenclaws standing behind me. I shrug and mutter: "I am sorry, I only went to school here for two years and I have no idea what you are talking about."

Luna does have an answer: "You must be talking about the Lost Diadem of Rowena Ravenclaw – I've told you about that. Remember?"

Another Ravenclaw snorts and remarks: "That's the problem – it's lost."

Harry asks the boy some questions and the other Ravenclaws begin to tell him about the magical diadem that apparently grants the wearer wisdom. Cho Chang offers to show Harry the statue of Rowena Ravenclaw in the common room – the woman who wore a diadem, I remember – but Ginny quickly remarks that Luna can do that too. I share a look with Fred while suppressing a giggle.

After Harry and Luna have left the room, I turn to Flora who is now checking Neville's wounds. Recognizing the look on her face, I ask: "What do you need, Flora?"

Flora stands up and looks around the room with a frown. "I would like to check the students with the most severe wounds – they need to be treated. I could use a stable surface and some Healer equipment if that is possible."

The students around us begin to walk around the room and George points at a couple of tables in the corner: "Is that what you are looking for?"

Flora nods and tells me which students she would like to check. Neville is the first one and with help from Lee, he follows Flora to the tables. Together with Ginny, I form a line of the students who have the most severe wounds while Fred and George try to lift the spirits by telling jokes.

Together with Flora, I treat most of the students. To be honest, Flora treats them and I hand her the right things she needs or asks for. When another young Hufflepuff student sits down, I notice the wound on the side of their head: "What happened to you?"

"One of the Death Eaters caught me when I exited the kitchen because I was hungry," the girl explains. She lets out a yelping sound when Flora touches the wound with a cloth. I sit down next to the student and grab her hand. Her eyes are closed and I begin to speak: "I used to visit the kitchen with Fred, my boyfriend, and one of the boys who are joking around."

The girl relaxes a bit and Flora carefully continues cleaning the wound. I keep talking about the moments Fred and I shared in the kitchen and how nice the house-elves used to be whenever we visited. When Flora is done cleaning the wound, she makes sure the wound is protected from any dirt that can get into. My best friend nods at me when she is finished and I let go of the hand of the Hufflepuff student.

The girl smiles at me before carefully jumping off the table and walking back to her friends. I catch Fred's eyes and he takes a couple of steps towards me. After wrapping an arm around my waist, he presses me closer and mutters: "You two are going a good job."

"She was hungry, Fred. They punished her because she was hungry."

Tears form in my eyes and my lip trembles. How could my uncle let all of this happen? Fred presses a kiss on my lips. "I know, love, I know. But we're going to chase them away and make sure they can't hurt another student."

I press my face in the jacket of Fred's suit and sigh. Fred softly begins to rock me back and forth. After a while, he grabs my face in his hands and looks into my eyes: "We're going to save them – all of them. They will be fine after all of this, we will be fine after all of this. I informed the rest of the Order through a Patronus – they should be here soon."

He kisses me again and I nod, wanting to believe his words.

Moments later, a couple of more familiar faces enter the Room of Recruitment. When Molly sees me and Fred, she lets out a small gasp and hugs us both. "We got your message and came immediately."

Suddenly, Molly spots her other son and rushes to Ron and Hermione who are talking to Kingsley. Fred shakes his head while looking at his mother but smiles when he sees her hug Ron. From behind us, Flora calls out to me and I let go of Fred again.

Flora is busy with another student and asks me to find someone for her. Fred stops me for a kiss when I pass him. Flora and I are quite a good team and Lee helps us by helping the students walk to the table or help them to one of the hammocks to lie down.

After the last students are treated (as best as Flora can do in these circumstances, it's not nearly as good and clean as a hospital), I sit down next to Ginny. The girl smiles at me and we sit in silence, watching the students around us chat about the return of Harry and what is going to happen next.

On the other side of the room, another door opens and Harry walks back inside. He looks around the room, probably looking for Ron and Hermione – I noticed they have vanished. On Harry's confused look, someone tells him: "They left a couple of minutes ago – something with a bathroom."

Harry's facial expression tells me he doesn't know what that means, but he spots some of the members of the Order of the Phoenix and begins to explain what happened: "You-Know-Who is on his way and the fighters are gathering in the Great Hall for instructions. Everyone underage has to be evacuated."

The members of the Order begins to head out of the room and Harry walks towards me. With a soft voice, he apologizes: "Your uncle left – I am sorry."

I nod, it is better with him gone. Flora and Fleur (who arrived with Bill moments after Molly and Arthur) begin to evacuate the underage students. Besides me, Fred stands up and offers me his hand. With our hand entwined, we look around the room to all the younger students that all look very scared and I try to think about the things that need to happen.

My thoughts are interrupted by screams.

"I am not going – I want to fight too!"

A voice calls out and I spot Ginny who is struggling out of her brother's grip. Molly shakes her head with a stern look on her face. Ginny yells and shakes her head, "But Mum, I can protect myself!"

"Fine," Molly sighs after looking at her daughter struggle for a moment, "You are allowed to say at Hogwarts – but you stay in this room."

Proudly, Ginny pulls her arm out of Bill's grip and nods before stepping aside.

From out of the tunnel, someone steps into the room and I recognize Percy Weasley. An awkward silence falls over the group and Fred squeezes my hand. I can see tears form in Molly's eyes and Percy tries to keep his balance by holding onto a chair: "Am I too late? Has it started? I only just found out, so I- I-"

The man falls silent and looks with wide eyes to his family around him. I squeeze Fred's hand back. Fleur – trying to save the situation – turns to Lupin and asks loudly: "So, how is little Teddy?"

A bit startled, Lupin looks at her.

Every single Weasley looks at Percy who seems to want to vanish under the ice-cold gaze of his family.

Lupin begins to speak, a bit too loud as if he wants to save the situation too: "I – oh yes – he's fine! Yes, Tonks is with him – at her mother's."

It doesn't help: the Weasley'skeep looking at each other as if they are all frozen.

"Here, I've got a picture!" Lupin calls out, pulling a photograph from inside his jacket and showing it to Fleur and Harry. Harry frowns and his eyes shift from Molly and Arthur to Fred and me. I look at Fred who still seems frozen and squeezes his hand again.

"I was a fool!" Percy says, so loudly that Lupin almost drops the photograph of his son, "I was an idiot, I was a pompous prat, I was a- a-"

"Ministry-loving, family-disowning, power-hungry moron," Fred says and I can see Percy swallow before agreeing: "Yes, I was!"

"Well, you can't say fairer than that," Fred says. He lets go of my hand and holds it out to Percy. They shake hands and Molly lets out a loud sob before hugging her son.

While his parents welcome their son back into the family, Fred holds out his hand for me to take again and suggests: "Shall we go to the Great Hall and see what's going on?"

Let the Battle of Hogwarts begin!!
