Ch 27 Time is too short to wait

Each of us was spread along the enemy’s campsite. All of them were sleeping. Although they were asleep, they weren’t dead. One wrong single move and the mission will be corrupted. This is a serious matter. Its life and death out here. Captain Raven and Sergeant Nikki’s excellent plan shall not fail. Disappointing them is not acceptable, even if we are rookies. There was no other member of this team. No one to be witness of the mission that will happen ahead. No...Really. The camera men were knocked out cold ‘sleeping.’ Depending on how hard Captain Raven and Sergeant Nikki knocked them out would depend if they ever wake up.

Raven took the title of Captain considering Nikki was captain last time. Demon stood at his position as I stood by mine. We were all set for this historical event. No...Really. It’ll be one of the world’s mysteries. Big as the Bermuda Triangle. Who tormented the other team when we were supposed to be sleeping at our side? Who injured those camera men on our side and their side? Who would even believe them?

The black backpack dangled from my right hand. Raven poked her head out and motioned her hand to move in. I and Demon exchanged glances and we moved into the sleeping field of the living, soon to be tormented. I quickly moved over to Lizzie’s side and watched as Raven and Nikki chose to victimize Misty and Logan. Demon got stuck with Ralph. I’m surprised those two stayed after being around our Captain and Sergeant. You wanna know why I let Raven and Nikki victimize Misty? Because they’re way more creative than I am with torment.

I zipped open her sleeping back and rested my backpack on the ground and zipped it wide open. A large snake head popped out and moved on to Lizzie’s sleeping body. I pulled out a black blindfold, and lifted Lizzie’s head, quickly tying it over her eyes. My eyes slid down back to the snake. It was slowly slithering its way inside of her shirt. She started to flinch. I smiled happily to myself and pulled out a black marker. I started to draw an attractive moustache, a uni-brow and scribbles on her face. What!? It was classic! Meanwhile, Raven was singing the most common song on the radio and Nikki joined it.

A high pitched feminine scream pierced my ears. I shifted my head onto Raven’s and Nikki’s side. Ralph and Misty were tied up against each other on a tree. Nikki dropped a couple of bugs down his pants and he screamed. That was Ralph? I thought it was Misty. Demon start to burst out in laughter and stopped once he met the three of ours menacing glare. Misty started to spring tears and froze for a few seconds until she began to scream. That woke up Misty right up.

“HEY! SHUT UP!” Misty yelped out angrily. Wow... You’d think this girl would be a little more sympathetic since her comrades are being tortured. I frowned and watched the snake move up.

“W-wait! W-w-w-what’s up my shirt?” Lizzie cried.

“A snake,” I sang. She started to loudly sob as the snake moves more into her shirt. The snake must be male. The cries of the night weren’t as inhuman as I thought it would be. I was actually finding this really funny. I pulled out a rope and then grabbed a hold of Lizzie’s wrist as the cries and screams continued from the group. No one can hear them here. I dragged her by the wrists, closer and closer to the tree as she continued to scream.

“AH! AH! AH! DON’T! AH! AH! AH! KILL! AH! AH! AH! ME!” She screamed but it sounded more like a song. She had a future in screamo! She should thank me for this. She would have never known that she was so talented. I tied her up against the tree and kneeled down beside her. I brought out the marker.

“Where should the snake bite...?” I whispered. She continued to cry endlessly. Yes... I’m immune to human emotion. In my defence, the captain and sergeant would have killed me if I didn’t follow their plans. I’m starting to think those guns at the back of their car is real... I began to draw surgical lines down her arms. She continued to cry as Raven and Nikki continued to sing.

“P-please! No! I’m s-sorry! I’m so sorry! I’ll be good now!” Lizzie stammered.

“Good...? Do you think I’m good?” I spookily whispered.

“NO, HO, HO, HO!” Lizzie continued. Santa clause imitation now?

“I don’t know what I did but I’m sorry too!” Logan sobbed, being tied up. Demon was beside him but did nothing but tie him up. The best torture is to watch others being tortured-or at least hear them. Demon was enjoying this more than he should. He was holding swallowing down his tears and laughter.

“MOMMY!” Ralph whimpered.

“You’re mommy isn’t here,” Nikki menacingly called. The girls officially scare me.

“I got ant’s in my pa-pa-pa-!” Ralph yelped.

I moved around Lizzie’s backpack and picked out her flag. All the sudden, gun shots blew in the air. I and Demon both froze, bagged eyed. Instantly, Misty became silent as the others continue to whine. I snapped my head toward the girls and was incredibly freaked out. My eyes moved up to Raven’s hand and saw a gun aiming for the air. It seemed that Misty seemed fine...

Damn...

“Troop, clean up and retreat,” Nikki instructed. All four of the victims gasped. Ah... They thought ‘clean up’ meant ‘kill them.’ I untied Lizzie’s arms and took back the rope, somehow managed to get rid of the snake, deeper in the forest and got set to leave. As far as evidence shows, there weren’t thousands of bugs or snakes. I went more through Lizzie’s backpack, along with the flag, I took the food. We quickly retreated back to headquarters. The fire we created flared over our eyes in the center. We shared the smiles on her faces and laughs. Our eyes met for a second but quickly returned the way it was facing.

“Tonight, we will feast!” Nikki called out happily. Raven nodded in agreement and both of the girls relaxed their shoulders and began to look so normal that it scared me. I and Demon again stared back at each other in horror. I can’t tell. Is it more scary for them to be psychopaths or normal? Raven slipped up a calm smile.

“You know, you should just both admit it already,” Raven said pulling out Misty’s back. I bet you’d find condoms in Misty’s bag... I will happily kill demon tonight if one has been used.

“What?” I dragged myself back into this world.

“That you both love each other,” Nikki scoffed. Her hands were digging into another bag as she brought food out from it. Ha-ha-ha. They were really funny now. Even their normal, isn’t normal.

“Finding someone you like is hard,” Raven smirked gazing between us.

“Finding someone that likes you back is harder,” Nikki continued, leaning forward. They have wisdom. I give you that. But that’s all.

“We don’t love each other,” Demon spat out. The twins in synch looked back at each other and then looked back at us once more. They glanced behind their shoulders and around and then leaned forward, and whispered very quietly in synch “Nathan told us all about it.” Oh course... Nathan... I’m done talking about things that won’t happen and I won’t let happen.

“So, how did you two meet Demon?” I arched an eyebrow. Demon began to hide in the shadows as his skin began to grow pale.

“He played around with the both of us–at the same time. We didn’t know it at the time but it didn’t matter because we’ve used him for food and expensive items. We’re rich but the rich stay rich by not spending much with their own money, right? Then, as time moved on, we started to notice he’s a complete player and Demon started to notice were complete psychopaths. So Raven–“ Nikki started the tale.

“–I threatened to carve his heart out of his body,” Raven smiled pleasantly “Nikki threatened to curse him to never have the person he’ll love. Other than our words... We killed his baby.” So they were the first one to kill his baby. He must have had three children then... Two of them died. Good idea he got a bullet proof car this time. They were first to kill his car, and they were the ones to first to call him Demon. Did he ever like the two?

I glanced back at the depressed Demon. He actually believed he was cursed didn’t he? Oh, boy....

“We didn’t fall for him but we thought it would be a good lesson not to do to others,” Nikki promised. They had moral. Who knew...

We shared the food and filled ourselves up. I wanted to sleep so bad. It seemed as if this nightmare won’t ever end. The nightmare of having him around me and not having him around me. I sighed heavily and rose to my feet from the warm fire place. I dragged myself back into my sleeping bag and shut my eyes. It’s harder to get someone to love you back than falling in love, huh? So, Seth gave up because he thought I didn’t...

Heavy eyelids were pried open by something so hideous that it would make the sun hide. Something so evil that it would make the devil want to make him his own son. Something... Something named...

“Demon!” I groaned. I lifted the sheets over my head and blocked the hideous sight of him and the sunlight peaking in from behind. I shut my eyes tightly but his monstrous hands kept on tugging back roughly. The sunlight burned my skin like acid. I needed to hide from the light and from this horrible creature. I dived deep under the covers. I took a relaxed breath out and put myself into a warm dark slumber. Next thing you know it... I was being dragged with the sleeping bag, down below to what felt like hot boiling sand. I yelped out and quickly dag my hands out of the sleeping bags and dragged myself out. I put my hands over my head from the incredibly bright sunlight. Children’s laughter echoed down below in the water.

“Get up psycho,” Demon demanded “The slaughters said it was okay to vacation for the day cause the other team is hiding from terror for the whole day.” I whined and started to crawl back more into shore and grass. A hand wrapped around my leg and dragged me back. I dag my short claws into the grass and pleaded to return to the shade.

Nikki and Raven were making a sand castle. It looked terrible but I couldn’t tell them that when I suspected them of having guns in their car. They were smiling happily, like two children who discovered sand. Oh, and guess what...? They’re talking to these crabs named Bob and Jimmy. Funny how that excuse was partly used for how and I Demon met at that England dinner table.

I sat on the grass and Demon decided to place himself beside me, even though we avoided complete eye contact. Our conversations have been very short lately. And about his comment about Seth. Did Seth really make out with my sister? The time when he called me Daphne, he made out with Daphne. Does that make any sense? Even when she does force someone to kiss her, they’re not thinking of her. That’s pretty pathetic...

“When are you ever going to stop thinking about Seth?” He snapped.

“What makes you think I’m thinking of him?” I slowly turned to face him but only got his side profile. His mouth remained locked in a silence that lasted forever. All the sudden, he gently pushed over to one side and faced me. His blue eyes darkened and squinted, narrowing down his sincere focus to me. “I’m not his replacement.”

I opened my mouth to defy.

“–Don’t. By getting back to Seth, you’re taking it out on my best friend and whatever guy is around you,” He stated. My nerves became numb of the words coming out of his lips. He had made it sound as if I was Daphne. Those words that I exactly said to Daphne. When she started to act different. When she stopped being my sister and start being somebody’s mistress. When my desired world fell.

“All that you’ll ever be to me from now is another one of those girls. Like I said before. I don’t play with those type,” He dropped the words and emptily sighed, tossing his back to me. I continued to stare at the back of his shirt. A mental slapped right across the cheek. Even the gently waves of the shore couldn’t help me relax now.

“I was never your type, you dick,” I swallowed the pain. He never did see me. The warmth between us faded into coldness. A cold wall stood behind his back and me. I listened to the waves and the smiling girls. All but silence could I handle.

“And I, was never yours,” He recalled.

“That’s right. Because the girl you say isn’t your type, is the type of person you are,” I forced my strong to be fierce without any weakness to my tone.

“I was always like this,”

“No, not this bad, not from what I heard.”

“The girl I loved died in front of me. What’s your excuse?”

“You already know,”

Seth isn’t an excuse,”

“Not Seth,”

“You’re parents have nothing to do with the way you’re starting to act. You started acting like this when Seth broke up with you.”

“What’s the big deal?”

“Don’t turn into a girl that I hate because I care about you,” He dropped his head. We met face to face, strictly. I rolled my eyes and hid my expression by looking the other way. I brushed my hair behind my ear to lay it down from the shore wind.

“Why do we always end up fighting?” I muttered. I huddled up my knees against my chest and rested my head on top of it. I glanced over the water and how gentle it seemed but even waves can grow too big and become complete destruction. He released a sigh and watched me from the corner of his eyes.

“Seth,” He struck.

“It’s not because of him,” I dryly defended.

“Fine,” He scoffed “That’s you’re reason but not mine.”

“Oh –really? Why does everything have to come back to being his fault Demon? Why is it never your fault?”

“Why is it never yours?” He rebutted and it took me a long while to respond.

“Fine,” I scoffed “maybe it’s both of our fault.”

“Why do we fight?” He asked in wonder.

“You’re a demon... and I’m a psycho?”

“Besides that...”

“Well, we fight about... Um... First it started because I kept on trying to stop you from dating. Then it started because I didn’t like you. Then we liked each other too much. Afterwards we fought about what you saw with I and Seth. Once we overcame that, we fought about I end up being with Seth but never actually chose him but you thought I did because some random chick told you. Now...”

“We’re fighting about letting Seth change you into one of those girls. I’m telling you Lexis, straight up. If you become that type of girl I won’t see you as psycho anymore, or even a girl. You’ll be like Nathan.”

“I’m not,” I rolled my eyes “I’m not into that.”

“SO, why are we fighting? I say Seth.”

“You and Seth actually get along without me in between.”

“True, you screwed it up. We’re fighting because of you.”

“Excuse me?”

“See!”

“Demon!” I roughly pushed him over the side. He laughs childishly over his proof. I continued to frown with disapproval. Though, he was right about one thing. I screwed things up for any chance of Seth and him being friends. They actually did get along with each other when I wasn’t in the way.

“So, I stand in the way,” I repeat.

“Yea...” he dragged happily that I admitted.

“Problem solved if I’m out of the equation,” I muttered quietly to myself.

“Sure, if you like your ex-boyfriend to date as many girls as I date,” he shrugged.

“He’s not like you,”

“Uh...yea, he is...”

“He’s nice,”

“To you but you don’t see him do you? While you’re kissing him, you’re thinking about someone else. It makes him feel no better than being kissed by a random girl,” Demon decided. Really...? I made him feel as if he was kissing Daphne!? Are you kidding me!? I didn’t think about anyone else while making out with him or anything! That’s a crime in my book!

“I don’t,” I repeat

“You do,” He sang

“I don’t!”

“You so do... Admit it Lexis. You see someone else in him. I don’t know who but you do. Please give me his name, address, age, medical health and his current location so I can make a quick phone call to end it all.”

“You’re jealous.”

“I don’t get jealous. No one cheats on me.”

“Don’t make me remind you about that time at the beach,” I warned him.

“That wasn’t really cheating,” He laughed.

“I wasn’t talking about that,” I smirked and his eyes became wide. Yea, the time where he stood nude inside the water for hours because I pushed him in and he somehow lost his trunks. That was a funny day.

“That day was the first time we kissed,” He gently smiled with evil lurking underneath.

“Yea... Been that long and you’re still a v–”

My head pounded forward. One small touch felt like poison in my veins. It’s electricity shocked me down to the core. It bumped hard and then turned more gentle. The kiss felt everlasting through my blood. Demon that je–it wasn’t Demon. Our eyes went both wide open to notice the force of hands above us. Hands released from on top of our heads as I felt forward with my weight on top of him. His hands caught me by wrapping around my waist, laying against the grass. He furthered the poison inside and we stood numb of each other, being against, too close with that touch.

“Told you it would work,” Raven’s voice broke the silence.

Raven POV

Nikki lifted the clump of sad and dripped it down over the sand castle as if it were going to the washroom. I created a expression as if I’ve smelt something. Her blue eyes wonder around back mine. She began to laugh at the thoughts lingering in my mind and dropped the clumps of sand without a care. She heavily sighed and rested on the sand. Our eyes both moved to the sand castle.

“I think it’ll make a good house for Bob and Jimmy,” Nikki clarifies.

“If they don’t get buried alive with it,” I insulted.

“Eh, they’ll reincarnate again,” She shrugged from a inside joke only we knew. Our minds were very complex. Our minds isn’t a safe place to be. Bob and Jimmy, the crabs were making an escape in the water. Nikki said she can communicate with them. They said they had to be at their friends wedding. They were such liars. I glanced back over the fighting couple.

“We’re going to be forever alone, aren’t we,” Nikki frowned.

“Not if we threat them,” Raven muttered.

“Good point,” Nikki nodded “Ugh, they still haven’t kiss. They’ll probably kill each other if we made them kiss anyway...”

“So negative! It’ll work!”

“Nah uh! You remember what happened last time!

“That time was one time! It won’t happen again.”

“Fine... But if it doesn’t work, Bob and Jimmy can hide us.”

“Yup,” I smiled.

I quickly stood up from where I sat and sneaked upon the two as if I was a ninja. Hell, a bulldozer could go through this whole forest and the two of them won’t notice a thing. I placed myself behind Lexis and Nikki placed herself behind Damon. We made one eye contact and understood the plan. I quickly grabbed hold of Lexis head and we both pushed.

“Kiss!” We exclaimed. The plan unfolded. Their lips crashed with each other and I and Nikki backed out to see the miracle happen. This is so much easier than letting them take forever to do what they want to do. They stood there in moments of shock and then Demon began to go further. I could only hope this was going to stay PG. Or else, the show has got to change their rating.

“Bob and Jimmy here we come,” Nikki whispered.

“Huh...? But they can’t harm us.”

“They can’t harm us yet. Hate is a strong emotion,” Nikki reminded of our hatred. I glanced over the water and where Bob and Jimmy could be. They couldn’t be too far. Anywhere is safe but here. I quickly grabbed a life jacket that they’d prepared for us in the backpack. Threw it on Nikki and ran toward the water. I didn’t fully put mine on but at least Nikki did. We kept on swimming and swimming until it was impossible for them to make it here in time without them having a fear of being drowned by us. We had life jackets, it’s allllllllllll good.

“Hey,” I glance over at my twin with large cheeks “Wouldn’t it be funny if we swam so far by accident and are in a very deep area?” I cracked out a laugher and started doing tricks with the life jacket since it wasn’t really tied down to me. I hanged upside down and glanced over the blue sky, only with a couple of clouds.

“Um... Raven,” Nikki calls.

“Hmm...?” I turn my head to her and put myself in a better position. She glanced down and stretched her toes and faced me again with wide eyes. Oh, this must be another one of her jokes.

“I can’t touch the ground,” She spoke horrified. I laughed out.

“No, really, I can’t touch the ground,” She spoke again. I stretched out even more and felt there being no end to the water. My heart sank a million meters down to the sea.I glanced down in the water and slightly dunk my head and forced my eyes open but saw nothing but darkness. I pulled my head out and glanced at her wide eyed. We got hold of each other’s hand and started paddling like crazy.

“We’re not getting anywhere!” Nikki yelped out. I opened my eyes and looked ahead. We were farther than we were before. The couple looked like tiny figures from the point we were at. Nikki can’t swim but I can. ABANDON SHIP!

I attempted to release the hold but Nikki kept paddling with my hand. We heavily breathed until I finally released hold of her and swam forward. I have to get Demon to save Nikki or Lexis! I glanced back and frowned and swam back anyway. She’ll drown before I come back.... We looked at each other and started to sniff.

“DEEEEEEEEEMOOOON!” We screamed out “LEXXXXXXXXXIS!” Somehow, they noticed. We’re saved!

“Um... Wait... Aren’t we in life jackets?” Nikki asked dumb folded. I glanced down and stared at it. Oh... That’s right, we were...
