Ch. 11 A cake for the player

Chapter 11

I move my fingers threw my hair getting rid of any tangles. My back rested onto the comfy Ferrari seat. The demon had his place right beside me with his hands both on the steering wheel. My sister was staring herself at the perfected hand held glass mirror she brought. Her white enchanted wedding dress was going to be picked out another day. Silence filled the air. The image of that wedding dress was implanted into my head.

“We should head back to school,” I mutter under my breath.

“-Not happening,” Demon said right at the moment I finished my word. I slouch down the seat. I didn’t feel like arriving back to school either. I stare into the window and watch the clouds swirl into together. I wanted peace. The thought of going back home reassured me. That’s when hell came down.

“Turn here,” Daphne blurts out. Demon remained silent with me.

“TURN!” Daphne kicked the back of mine and Demon seat. My teeth clenched at the impact of my seat and my back. Once more there was silence. A red light appeared. Demon came into a rough spot. I knew what the demon was doing. Daphne didn’t. She slammed her head forward into my seat. I lightly smile.

“Did you not hear me?” Daphne dryly asks. Yea, like for the third time! We don’t care!

“Damon you’re jealous of Seth. And Lexis is seeing Seth as you Damon. Oh and did you know what Seth did?” Daphne brought some drama involved. Daphne, we’re not going to listen to you. I know Damon is jealous and I know I’m not seeing Seth as Damon. My hand reaches backwards and I forcefully grab Daphne’s mirror and threw it out the window onto the curb. Daphne gasped loudly.

“I need to meet my fiancé to buy the cake!” Daphne yelps.

“Do you really want me to see Lucy?” I question her. Because I’ll beat him to a pulp if he’s fooling around. Demon gave the start of a laugh remembering our Lucy joke.

“Lucy...!? Who the hell is Lucy!?” Daphne scrunched up her nose.

“You’re fiancé,” Demon cracks an amused smile. I stare up into the red light. How long could a red light last? I look at the cross road and see an old woman slowly crossing the street with another old man starting to cross the street. Then I see somebody dressed in colourful colors starting to cross the street. Demon rested his shoulder.

“What do you know. It’s a clown crossing the street,” Demon swings his head with a charming smile on his face. The memory of the dinner arrived right back into my head. His excuse of why he stopped the car on how we met was that there was a clown crossing the street.

“A hippie is more believable,” I sting my tongue out.

        “Sure...” Demon rolls his eyes.

“Daphne, where are you going my love?” A voice echoed into my ears. Where is my baseball bat? I’ve got to get rid of another pervert. Who the hell speaks like that anyway!? Along with the British accent. Just so... The voice...sounds familiar. Oh no... Please don’t be...

“Hey Lucy babe. How have you been doing Lucy? Have you done something with your hair?” Demon moved his head toward the direction of Daphne. I look and find Lucien leaning against Daphne’s side of the car. Just great...! He’s here...! He got side bangs and let me say. He still looked like prince charming.

“Nice to meet you again too Damon,” Lucien sarcastically says and gazes at me. His smile lightened up brighter. His British accent still took place. He slides over to my side of the car “It’s nice to meet you again Lexis. You’re as beautiful as I remember you,” He charmingly says into my eyes.

“Lucien, my boyfriend is a player. Do you think I’m dumb enough to fall for that?” I test him. You ain’t fooling me buddy. Even if I didn’t know you were a player before, you still didn’t fool me. He kept his smile onboard.

“Yea, I didn’t think so but you still look good,” Lucien sweetly comments.

“So do you Lucy babe,” Demon teased. With his head still facing Lucien, he hits the gas and goes on forward. The face on both on Lucien and Daphne was hilarious. For once, I’m in love with Demon’s actions. I wasn’t in the mood to be near Lucien. He was getting with my sister and I wasn’t sure if I could trust him now that I found out he’s like Demon.

“Damon...! Stop the car...!” Daphne exclaimed.

“Nope,” Demon sincerely says with a smile on his face.

“I’ll hurt your car!” Daphne threatened. Demon mutters some swear words under his breath and then turns around and ended up on the street that Daphne said we were supposed to arrive. There was a large bakery right beside us.

“Thank you!” Daphne exclaims and gets out of the car “And both of you are coming with me or Damon’s car will get it.” Damon instantly got out of the car and dragged me out of the car by grabbing into my wrist. He better buy me something if he’s dragging me along with Daphne and Lucien. We walked into the restaurant and I stared at the delicious food.

“Hello, I have a request for a wedding cake,” Lucien speaks in his British accent to the main person. I was scanning for anything made out of chocolate.

“I’m getting something. What do you want Lexis?” Demon asks along beside me. He’s rich right? I smile largely.

“Knock yourself out. I’ve got enough money to buy the whole place,” Demon calmly tells me and has this tiring look over him. I stare over at the chocolate desserts and already in love with all of them.

“Okay, so... I want this one,” I tell Demon and then continue “This, this, this...oh and definitely that...! Oh, can you get me a chocolate fountain!?” Hope was rising to the top of my head. The front desk guy had this surprised expression. Demon stares down at the desserts I wanted.

“Yup,” He calmly responds folding his arms. There was something wrong. He never acted this calm.

“Are you going to tell me?” I ask quietly watching him from the corner of my eyes.

“Tell you what?” Demon obviously asks.

           “What’s wrong...”

            “Nothing,”

“I know how you act Demon, it’s not anything,”

“I’m afraid if seeing you with too much sugar,” He admits but that wasn’t it.

“I thought everything was okay with us now,”

           “Not yet,”

           “Why...?”

“Because I sleep on your couch,” He gave me a death glare.

“Don’t make me pick up something and smash it into your face,” I threatened. He rises in an eyebrow. Oh it’s on!

            “You wouldn’t dare,”

            “Oh I bet I do,”

“How much you want to bet?” Demon brought our betting thing into all of this. You’d think after losing each time, he’d learn by now.

            “Ten grand,”

“How about thirty...?” He smiles. Was he up to something?

            “Fine,” I shrug.

“I hope that covers the damage you make,” Demon sourly smiles. Oh...right...

“You’re paying for it,” I remind him “Thirty is more than enough to cover it.” I didn’t know he was dumb in math. Demon’s smile faded and shifted his head around the restaurant. I bet he was looking for a hiding place.

“Not the face okay,” Demon warned me. That’s my main target. I smile largely and as soon as he was going to jump over the counter. I picked a pie up and aimed for his head but it only smashed at the back of his head. Demon leapt over the counter and ducked.

“I can’t believe you did that...” Demon dryly says from behind. The cashier yelped out with madness. Daphne and Lucien weren’t too happy either.

“We’ll pay for everything,” I told the cashier and the cashier relaxed. The next moment I felt a splat of food into my ear. My jaw dropped and my hand touched over my ear to find a cupcake sticking me. I pull it off and Demon was laughing with another cupcake into his head.

“You’re so dead,” I warn him. He shrugs and kisses his teeth. Then he aims to throw another on me. I ducked and a scream echoed thru our ears. For a second, I thought the scream belonged to an opera singer. There was no time for hesitation. I quickly move over to the counter and pick a dessert into my hands.

“I’m very much alive,” Demon mutter, kneeling down the counter so that I wouldn’t be able to hit him. He didn’t think of how easy it would be to dunk something in his head.

“Oh really...?” I ask, slowly crept toward the counter, fully standing. I lean forward and pick another cake up and drop both of them onto his head. Demon gasps.

“You’re a demon, of course you’re dead,” I tease. Then he rises up and I knew what was coming. I run back to the corner of the restaurant but somebody was behind me. Demon aimed and I moved my shoulder to the left. It got my shoulder a little dirty but most of it I dodged.

“Ha...! I dodged it! You still owe me-“I say and got a cupcake thrown at my face. I loudly gasp and ignore the panic of people behind me. I ran into the counter again and dodged every single throw Demon threw. People behind was gasping every time something was thrown. You’d think they ran out of air.

“STOP...!” A high pitch scream went into my ears-Daphne. Good timing too. Demon and I were both armed with pie and facing each other. It was a tie.

“Peace...?” Demon asks. I nod and he lowers the pie and so do I. Then I smashed the pie into his face and rubbed. It. I was laughing while doing this. The pie dropped onto the floor and I couldn’t stop laughing at the cream on his face.

“You fell for it!” I exclaim.

“Should have known a psycho doesn’t follow the rules,” Demon mutters and then the next second he hit me with a pie. I put my hands in front of my face to reduce the mess.

“I SAID STOP!” Daphne screams. I sigh and decide to end it for today. I won thirty grand anyway.

“Fine,” Demon sighs and we end the war with a hand shake “That was fun.”

“You owe me thirty grand,” I remind him.

“Yea, I know,” Demon kept on smiling. His smile radiated in my heart. It was perfect just being friends. While every laugh we shared; I didn’t know the damage we had done. I scan the room and found Daphne and Lucien covered in desserts more than I and Demon.

“Lucy, you don’t mind paying for the ones we hit with you right?” Demon asks. Lucien rubs the dessert off his face. He gave demon a death glare. I guess that was a no. The total amount was only about four hundred.

“Sorry about the mess,” Demon apologized to the owner who came in “I’ll give you an extra thousand for it.” That was way more then they needed. I wasn’t going to tell him though.

“Come back any time,” The owner smiled at Demon for the money.

“Seems more like you two are having the wedding... Thanks a lot for getting us in a mess,” Lucy sarcastically says. I took some cream off Demon’s face.

“This look suits you Demon,” I tell him.

“What...? You don’t like my brilliant, hot face?” Demon asks in shock.

“I think this is prettier,” I shrug.

“You’re psycho, of course you think it is,” He snickers. Lucien and Daphne were still giving us dirty looks. They still had to order there cake. I and Demon decided we should head out and get cleaned. He drove us back to the apartment and I was the first to take the shower. We had to arrive back and get Daphne, as soon as she called. I changed into clothing and Demon went in and took a shower. Daphne called us at the time we both finished. I didn’t want to come but Demon threatened not to give me the thirty thousand he owed me. We went back into the car and arrived at the restaurant. Daphne was still in a mess. She climbed in and muttered swear words about getting herself messy.

I rest my head comfortably on the seat and stare ahead into the road. There were only a few cars up ahead. The only sound came from Daphne. I and Demon stood in comfortable silence. I completely forgot how much fun we had before my parents were in danger. A smile sat on my face. I watch the blue sky and shaped clouds. One of them was shaped like a cupcake. I think I had enough desserts for one day.

“Stop here,” Daphne demands. Not this time Daphne...! Demon ignored her too.

“Stop...!” Daphne screeched. She was so annoying. I felt like pulling her hair out until she was bald. We both gave her the silent treatment. Daphne became rougher and kicked my seat. At least she wasn’t kicking Demons. We would probably be in a car accident if she kicked Demons.

“Stop ruining the seats!” Demon exclaims “What the hell is wrong with you? You’re so immature.” Demon says this. The demon even thinks my sister is more immature than he is. This is why I hate my sister. What did Lucien see in her? I saw nothing. Another moments of our salience and Daphne’s yell.

“Stop, I need to get somewhere!” Daphne yells.

“Daphne, shut up!” I yell at her “Stop acting like a kid!”

“I’ll hurt your car Damon,” Daphne threatens.

“Daphne, don’t... This is not the area where you hit the car,” I warn her. Even I knew the measure. This was a highly dangerous area to be threatening Demon’s car. She narrowed her eyes at me. She stopped and I was relieved for my life. I could see the tension from how tight Demon was gripping the steering wheel. I patiently wait for us to arrive. The car speed sped up a little. One loud metal screech passed threw I and Demon’s ears. My heart beat sped up. Demon faced Daphne with rage. My eyes widen at the cars up ahead. I heard tire screeches and loud beeps.

“DAMON!” I yelled out and leaned forward for the steering wheel. My hands gripped into it the last second. The rough feel of the steering wheel was the last thing in my fingertips. The last thing I heard was my name being called out in a blur. Everything became pitch black.
