Sophia's first birthday is finally here, and I'm stuck at the studio. There was still so much to do.... pick up the cake, decorate the house, clean the house the list just goes on and on.

"Luke? You alright mate? Cal's voiced echoed through my thoughts

"Uh? Oh yeah. Sorry, lot on the brain today." I smiled sheepishly at him

"Totally understandable" Calum laughed "but help us out, we need one more song for the deluxe album!"

I couldn't help but laugh at his excitement "alright alright, let me think"

The room fell silent, and to be honest I wasn't thinking about ideas for a new song at the moment. My entire train of thought was on Sophia and her being one today. How did the last year fly by so damn fast? I felt my phone vibrate in my pocket, pulling it out and seeing Laur had mention me in a tweet I couldn't help but laugh.

"What are you laughing at?" Ashton asked

"Laur sent me this hilarious picture of Soph in the bathtub a few seconds ago" I said in between laughs

"And that's funny?"

"Yeah, cos above Soph's head spells out 'Fuck Baths' and Soph has a big smile on her face, see" I showed the guys the picture and of course that resulted in much more laughter

"She is going to be so embarrassed when she's older" Michael laughed

"Probably, but she can yell at Laur for that one" I laughed along with him

"Hey I got an idea, Luke remember that song we started writing when we first bumped into Emilee and Lauryn in that apartment building we used to live in?" Michael said

I thought back to that day, Michael and I had just gotten home from a long day at the stupid and our obnoxious neighbors were blasting Green Day from across the hall. Michael being Michael not wanting to go yell at them; so I did. Well yelling at the girl who answered the door turned into asking her on a date which lead to more dates which lead to me asking her out and then asking her to marry me and now we have Sophia. It took me a minute to realize what song he was talking about.

"Dude! Why didn't I think of that before? It should still be on my laptop" quickly getting up and striding over to my laptop, I began looking for what could hopefully be another hit. It only took a few more minuets before I had actually found it. "Found it"

" I love that accent you have when you say hello, you relocated from New York a month ago....... But wait I thought Laur and Emilee were in Australia for about two years before you met them" Cal pointed out

"They did, but relocated from New York two years ago just doesn't sound right, you know?" Michael replied

"Ah that make sense" Calum laughed before turning his attention back to the computer screen before speaking up again "if you guys want, i can have this finished by Soph's party tonight. I already have ideas coming to mind"

"Cal, you do realize that the party starts in like two hours?" I told him

"It'll get done, trust me. Now go get yourself and my little peanut ready"

"Why did you get a big ass cake?" Lauryn laughed at me

"Because it's Soph's first birthday and there's going to be a lot of people here" I gave her this 'DUH' look.

"Is this how it is going to be with the next kid's 1st birthday?" Laur questioned

I whipped my head around and looked at her "you're not...."

"Oh no!" Lauryn laughed "I was just saying for the future. I know we talked about more babies eventually"

I walked up to her and kissed her temple "well in that case yes. Stella's first birthday will have a big ass cake. Or Mason, who ever comes first"

"Stella? Why Stella?"

I smiled at her "so I can sing the song 'Stella' to her obviously"

"I love how you picked the names already"

"I pick the first names, you pick the middle names. We agreed on that" I stuck my tongue out at her

"You really are a dweeb" Laur laughed and kissed my cheek "come on, it's party time"

"Hemmings!"

"Gaskarth! What in the hell are you doing here?!" I haven't seen Alex or the rest of the guys from All Time Low in the longest time. I was in total surprise to see them walk through the door.

"Well someone saw we were in town for a couple days, called us up and invited us over. I believe it was that wife of yours" Alex said and motioned over towards Laur.

I shook my head but let a smile form on my face. "Have you met Sophia yet?"

"Not yet" Alex laughed "but I've seen photos and she is a spitting image of you... Except for the dark hair of course"

I felt someone come up next to me and an arm wrap around my waist, already knowing it was Laur "hey guys!"

"There she is, thanks so much for the invite it has been a crazy couple of days" Alex said giving Laur a hug

"Oh, don't mentioned it! I figured it would be nice for Luke and the guys to see you all again"

"See you are the best, hey does my mum still have mumble?" I asked looking at Laur

"I believe so, if not my dad has her"

I nodded my head and went off to find Soph. It only took me about five minutes but sure enough I found her with both my mum and Laur's dad

"Hey Luke, nice job with the party" Carl said to me

"Thanks, did it all myself" I let out a chuckle "mind if I steal little mumble for a few minutes"

"She is your daughter Luke, you don't have to ask"

"I know, but you don't always get to see her in person-"

"Luke, take her. I'm still going to be here for a couple more days" Carl laughed. I laughed along with him and took Sophia into my arms.

"There she is!" Alex said, who was now joined by Jack, Zack and Rian

"Soph, can you say hi to Alex, Jack, Zack and Rian?" I looked down at her only to see her face buried into my shoulder, I shouldn't help but laugh "Hey, come on don't be shy"

"Way to go Alex, you scared her" Zack laughed

"How?! All I did was say 'there she is!' How is that scaring?" Alex shot back with laughter

"You didn't scare her" Laur said taking Soph from me "she never met you before so she's just a little shy, that's all. Isn't that right little mumble" Soph nodded her head before looking back and forth between me and Rian.

"Ri!" Soph giggled

Rian's face broke out into a small smile before waving at Sophia "I think someone likes me the most"

"Ha! I doubt that" Jack said

"Happy birthday to, You!" Everyone finished singing happy birthday to Sophia, who was staring at everybody like they were crazy but more importantly kept putting her hands in her little cake in front of her. It was a really good thing Laur had taken her clothes off and left Soph in just her diaper. Just as I was scanning everyone out on the back patio, there was one face that I was incredibly surprised to see here.

Laur's Mum.

Quickly walking over to her with out any suspicion from anyone, her face turned to shock when she saw me approach her "Mrs. Dean"

"Hello Luke, I'm sorry if I'm intruding. I know I said I wouldn't come but.." Her voice trailed off

"It's completely okay. No need to explain" I smiled at her

"How has Laur been? I'm sure she's told you about our phone call on Halloween"

"She did. Laur's doing good, an amazing mum to Sop-"

Elizabeth cut me off "Luke, that's not what I meant"

"Right. Please don't get upset with me even more when I say this.... But Laur needs some time. I know it's going to take more than just one phone call to fix things with her. She's still pretty upset"

She sighed in defeat but let out a small chuckle " I was afraid you would say that. Look Luke, everything I said about you.. I take it back completely. I see all the photos with you and Sophia and Laur, and you are the opposite of what I said. I don't know what I was thinking when I said all those things. I am truly sorry, from the bottom of my heart. I hope you will forgive me eventually"

I looked down at my feet then back at her "I do, I do forgive you. My mum always said to forgive and forget and makes things better"

A calming silence settled over us before Laur's mum spoke again "I do have a gift here for Soph, would you mind giving it to her?"

"Would you like to come outside, with everyone?"

"No no. That's okay, I don't want to make Laur and her father feel uncomfortable with me being here"

"But you wouldn't" I tried to protest

"Trust me Luke, it's better she didn't know I was even here"

"Okay, I understand"

"You really are a special guy, Luke. Please always keep taking care of my girl" Elizabeth said with a small smile.

"I promise, I'll never stop" without thinking, I walked over and pulled Elizabeth into a hug. After a minute or two she let go and handed me Mumble's gift.

"Just say it came in the mail or something" Laur's mum gave me another hug before turning away and walking out the door.

"Today went so well!" Laur beamed walking into our bedroom. Sophia was incredibly tired from her birthday party and was a little more fussier than normal to put to sleep.

"Of course it did, I planned it!" I laughed her, then patted the spot next to me on the bed "come here, I have to tell you something"

Laur's eyes went wide "this isn't where you tell me you are cheating on me and want a divorce is it?"

"Never in a million years! I love you way to much to let you go. Now get your cute little bum next to me"

Lauryn's shoulders immediately relaxed as she walked to our bed and plopped down next to me. I reached under the bed and grabbed the gift Laur's mum had told me to give to sophia.

"What's this? Our anniversary was last week... And we agreed no presents!" Laur laughed

"This is Soph's birthday gift. It's from your mum.."

"My mom?! Really?" Laur said in shock

"Now this next part I am going to tell you, she told me not to tell you. But you are my wife, I love you and I am always honest with you. No matter what it is" I told her, looking her straight in her eyes

"Damnit Luke, just say it already"

"Your mum came to the party today. I saw her when you started to cut the cake. When I asked her if she wanted to join the party she said she didn't want to make you and your dad uncomfortable and it was best that you didn't know"

Laur went silent and sunk back against the headboard. "My mom was here?" She whispered

"Yes. But she didn't want to make you feel uncomfortable."

"I can't believe she came"

"Me either. But I think you should try talking to her again" I suggested

"There's no way. I'm not going to talk or make amends with her until she apologizes to you for everything she has ever said about you!" Laur said turning her body to face me

"Babe, she did. She said she takes back everything she ever said about me, that I'm the complete opposite of what she said" I pulled Laur into my lap "she also said I'm the most handsome guy she has ever met and wants me for my body"

Lauryn tilted her head back in laughter as she leaned more into my chest "there is no way in hell my mom said that"

I chuckled "okay, maybe not that last part...but she did say everything before that"

"She really said that?" Laur asked in disbelief

"Scouts honour babe" I kissed her cheek "now let's open the gift, I wanna see what it is!"

Lauryn giggled but reluctantly opened the wrapped package. Once the present was open, Laur held up a small pink Pearl bracelet with a small silver pendant that said 'Sophia' on it. The bracelet itself was absolutely beautiful.

"This is gorgeous" Laur said

"She has good taste in jewelry" I have a small chucked before resting my chin on Laur's shoulder.

Laur sighed "alright, I'll do it"

"Really?"

"Yeah. Not just for Soph, but for me as well"

"That's my girl" I pulled Laur back just the slightest bit to give her a soft kiss on the lips
