"you okay?" you asked reid after he came out of the room where his parents were. he shut the door behind himself as the two of them stayed together in the room as you looked up at him.

he nodded, looking off into the distance before finally letting out a sigh and leaning down, pressing his lips to yours.

you took a brief step back from the pressure but kept your lips on his before he heard the door open and his parents both stepped out. this caused reid to let go of your lips as he gave you a soft smile.

"see, spencer," his dad said as you stared up at reid in admiration. your hand found his as you held onto it tightly, pulling yourself towards him before fully leaning against him while he looked at his dad. "you would do anything to protect the woman you love, wouldn't you?" he asked as he looked down at you.

"of course i would," he replied, tightening his grip on your hand as you kept yourself pressed against the side of his arm.

his dad looked over at you. "then you understand where i was coming from with your mom. i loved her so much that i had to protect her," he said before looking back up at reid. "you can understand that now. look at her."

he looked down at you, seeing you look back up at him with a soft smile on your lips as you kept staring up at him.

"i'd do anything for her," he said, still staring down at you as you continued to look up at him. "i'd give anything for her."

his dad chuckled as his mom smiled at the two of you.

"so, dad," he said, looking away from you. "i understand now. i'm sorry, about everything," he said as he turned back to you, giving you a quick kiss on your forehead before the two of you began walking off.
